This thread reminds me of the political section on a gun forum.

Seriously. It's uncanny. Battling the same demons, the same misinformation. The same blanket types of legislation that make no sense. The same emotionalized arguments posing as facts, about inanimate objects, that are basically tools. Everyone in control is either oblivious - or leading the charge based on ulterior horse crap.

It's like being dropped in another universe (the same universe) where I have to fight for my right to not have cancer or be sick? Common sense and basic awareness has been completely gutted from the subject. My faith in humanity once again, eye rolling-ly shattered that - if you can't understand this. How do you even function every day?!

Ok so we have this safer alternative to smoking. It's basically benign to the people around them too. Holy crap! Can't have that! You should just smoke, and be treated like the horrible person you are! Back to your designated area 150ft from the building. No, you don't get a roof. Stand in the rain smokers. And die. Quickly.

But boo hoo hoo we don't want to pay for your health care.

The same extreme levels of logic failure are at play here as well. Mystifying...

The same rhetoric is in play. The same charges to destroy your personal freedom. Even, when it's a positive change millions of people are making to improve their health. (Provide self reliance, or security - independence on a gun forum. Protect their families etc) Anything this blatantly ridiculous that bursts the stratosphere of the stupid bubble means one thing. Ulterior motives. Follow the money, as that will be where the big stinking pile of truth is...
Should be similar. Many of the same people. Control freaks and those afraid of life.

Tell you one thing, whether it's guns or e-cigs, this is all very appealing to the ad agencies. They don't know who to work for anymore so they can go work for both sides. Guess it's like politics, both sides make Madison Avenue very happy. Remember Larry Tate, always looking to see which way the wind was blowing so he could jump on board?

So, by omission, they're basically saying that vodka and it's flavors like cotton candy, rainbow sherbet, root beer float, s'mores, red licorice, strawberry shortcake, pb&j and maple syrup are OK for an after school snack...

"They ask parents keep children away from e-cigarettes and its flavors like bubblegum, chocolate, and mint."

By omission or commission what they are basically saying is that no journalist assembled those words into a sentence. It makes no grammatical sense at all.

God, I thought I was the only one who still thought that those in broadcasting/journalism/mass media of any sort ought to be able to speak and write correctly! It's a vanishing skill!

LOL, incoming tweet, "you can't be serious! So people breathing offends them?"

Oh yeah, this could work to discredit them. :D
At least as a conversation starter to point out how ludicrous their claims are.

Oh yeh, now that's what we're talking about! And you can quite honestly tell them that they are against seeing anything that looks like vapor because it *might* look like smoke and then everyone will start smoking again! lose weight! and there goes their new obesity campaign.

I have a few catch phrases and slogans... but this forum has a G rating despite being an 18+ club.

I know right! Very uncanny! It's like they have the same tutorial book. Did you see David Knights show with the banana guy yet? He even mentioned the riff between the owners, about whether or not to do it in public!!
I love how he mentioned the lies, fear mongering, etc.. And how ALL bill of rights need to work together to fight for our constitution, not just our own particular right. We all have tunnel vision... Except those who have cross overs of course. He's dead on right. Even the obese now are under attack, and the gays again, and and and all of them I swear.
Everyone, read your bill of rights, especially the 9th & 14th amendments.

Yep, that's right on target. I can't quite believe it either, after all the years and years and years of QUIT SMOKING hollered from every rooftop and public service announcement and BS shoved under the windshield wipers at shopping centers. But if you can't QUIT SMOKING, then TOO DAMN BAD. QUIT IT ANYWAY. I've gotten so sick of that message. So hey, guess what? Now I'm going to quit! MY WAY, with a sweet little E-CIGARETTE. I was reading another site on this subject, and as he pointed out, the only thing they can really do at this point is make it difficult for us, delay it, make it costly -- but it's gone too far to shove under the rug with prohibitionist legislation. When I was re-tweeting some stuff about it, I noticed that quite a few of the tweets originated with actual Representatives, so we're not completely unrepresented. So, yeah, they can probably make it difficult for us for a while, but there's no way they can eradicate it. Especially if all of us spread the word about the truth of it as far and wide as we can.

Well... PG? That's how it seems to me, anyway.

ROFL!!!! The very first e-juice I bought, the pipe sauce called Oak Barrel Cider, says this on the back: "Surgeons in general warn living will cause death."

Couldn't have said it better myself! Big Pharma and all the doctors carry on like they think if you quit doing all those bad things, you'll be IMMORTAL!!! It hasn't worked so far, but that must be the patient's fault. :p And anyway, if you quit doing EVERY bad thing... what's the damn fun in living, I'd like to know!

I don't know why you feel that way. It's not as if they are reporting any news. They aim for the sensationalist viewpoint. Whatever will get the most viewers. THAT is news!!

From what I understand, the laws changed about 20 years ago that made "news" entertainment. At that point, they no longer had to be impartial and give both sides of an issue. They're no longer being held up to the same legal standards anymore.

The one thing I most hate about that is that they should, at the very least, have to admit that openly on every single broadcast. They pretend to be 'news' in the old sense of the word. But, they're not. They are legally now just entertainment. As long as they admit it, fine. But, so many people think they have some legal standards that they have to abide by. But, they don't!!!

Thank you, Ronald Regan & Co. His deregulation of the broadcasting industry helped unleash the tidal wave of "infomercials" when at one time you were able to watch at least old movies on TV at night. Suddenly "ketchup" was a "vegetable" for school kids and "trees" caused pollution. Classic times indeed.

You'd think he would have had a vested interest in keeping old movies being shown...

Mainly because television/radio is the only hope some folks have of learning correct grammar -- if the folks doing the broadcasting are slaughtering the language, people listening to them think it's ok too. It's the Dumbing Down of America. When the broadcasters were more literate, so were the listeners.

And it would also seem logical that if you want to impress people with the "news" you're reporting, you report it in correct grammar -- that way someone might think the broadcaster might actually know something.

We need advocates...doctors, politicians, media. The last time I saw a TV report on e-cigs, the anti side featured a learned professor (Glantz) and a researcher in a white lab coat. The advocate was a dude from the local vape shop. If you were uninformed, who would you believe? If there are good advocates, why don't we ever see them on a local news report. Because the media is lazy.

This.

The trouble is, not many people really know how actually "learned" Glantz is... Siegel's blog is full of stories dissecting his half-truths and blatant lies...!
