Guess who is the proud new owner of a 18650 Zebra? Yep that would be me. It's sitting soaking up Howard's until tomorrow. I'm having a terrible time just letting it soak. It's just so beautiful!! I had pretty much given up hope that anyone would part with 1 much less that I would get it. I'm so happy!!! I'll post an updated family photo in a couple of days. :)

Question for my Woodvil peeps:

My 18650 Woodvil works beautifully with an AW 1600mAh 18650. It does not work at all with a Sony VTC5. All of the contacts appear to be clean and the flat top Sony battery appears to be making good contact at the positive and negative. Why wouldn't a flat top battery function in a Woodvil?

I've been using VCT4s in mine with no problems.

Mudflap, if you have a multimeter you could check that the battery is making contact to the positive and negative battery contacts, just to be sure. Because if you can measure battery voltage on the positive and negative contacts (the ones in the mod, not the battery terminals), there is likely a fault somewhere else within the mod. I use flat tops in my 18650 woodvil, the simplest problems are often the most frustrating.

Depends on the woodvil ..... sometimes the rounded corner of the wood will stop the battery from making good connection on the top. It hits the wood corner on the corner of the batt before the metal on metal connection occurs. Take a look and you can eyeball if its going to be a problem.

Or just pop a battery in upside down and make sure its making firm contact..... great test.

OOops I see you all ready have flat tops ..... when its in see if you can slide a piece of paper between the contacts ?? It may just look like they are touching well but still a bit of space there.

I use nothing but flat tops in mine with no problems... but... is the spring on the woodvil also a fuse? Maybe yours collapsed??

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll do some more involved troubleshooting and figure it out.

Right now, I'm disassembling two Grands and getting them cleaned up in preparation for the upgraded contacts which should arrive tomorrow. They gotta be freshly showered before they put on brand new underwear!
