I'd strongly suggest a metal mod as your first one.

That will be one less competitor on sale night!

Seriously though as many have said, woods are tougher than you'd think but I still have metals for hazardous duty use, like working out in the yard or in the garage, painting or a hard night out drinking. I typically vape both a Woodvil and Metal everyday.

Yeah what he said!

If my last post implied that Woodvils are as durable as metal REOs then that wasn't intention. Just that they are not porcelain dolls that require special handling/protection.

Thanks for the tip

Hey!

In all seriousness I probably will go for metal, and save up for a wood or resin at a later stage

I just hope that Rob doesn't tweak the current LP Grand with some more modern/efficient material as I purchase

I wouldn't worry about metal grands becoming obsolete. They're nigh indestructible and work superbly. Rob updates some of the working parts from time to time, but these have been retrofittable to date. New gold contacts were about a year ago and the new adjustable ss 510 connector just dropped - both can be put into reos that are years old.

Worst case, you can sell a grand in the classies for most of what you paid for it should you decide to move some as yet undiscovered unobtainium hover reo in 2020 :)

I have both and love them all for what they are. The metal for durability and the woods are beautiful and feel even better in the hand. Fortunately, I am not too hard on them and they look like they have all been babied. LOL But, if I were to drop one of my grands, I am sure it wouldn't even blink. The woods would probably just wince a little[emoji6]

bit late to the party but I'm another who vapes only woodvils, nothing feels like a woodvil in the hand. I'm hard on my stuff and drop stuff from time to time and yeah I have even cracked a few woodvils, but to that I say so what? a little crazy glue and sand it out, and it's almost good as new.

personally I don't expect anything I use heavily to last forever, I want to enjoy what I'm using while I'm using it. I know I'll use up and wear out and replace many things every few years, from cars to shoes to phones and yeah, vape gear too, doesn't mean I'm not going to use good stuff just because it will deteriorate, that's what I call getting my use out of it :) woodvil is the vape of kings, just grow a collection and use the hell out of them, life's too short to just stick it up on a shelf and vape anything less. there will always be new ones to collect :)

just did this crack a few days ago, haven't glued it yet. slipped on the ice while getting out of the car flew out of my hand (it's almost always in my hand :) ) slammed it flat on it's back hard on solid ice and cracked the top in half.

it's a battle scar, adds character, like a worn leather jacket. no big deal, it's a woodvil, even tattered it's an awesome vape :) I got it to use it and enjoy it and I really enjoy vaping it every day, wouldn't want to have to use anything less and I'm sure it'll give years of service even with daily use and abuse :) add a few more and they should last many years as a team :)

I hear you turbocad. I've always been a wood guy. Today I have 4 LP Grands, 1 VV Grand and 2 '650 Woodvil's on-line... and 90% of my vaping has been with the 2 Woodvil's. One with my #2ADV, the other with a joose I am just trying to use up and won't do again. So I've mostly ignored the ADV's in all 5 Grands. I've even ignored the TRA/TRB that is my favorite Grand with my #1ADV.

I've always been a metal guy, had no use for wood, didn't even like wood in general, but once I held and vaped a woodie the first day I was hooked, they've been my primary daily ever since

and Russ I wash my woods all the time and they also sit on the ledge with me in my shower as I shower and vape too. not sure why so many are afraid to get there natural finished woods wet, especially if you just dry it off afterwards, I do it almost every day, that's pretty much how I clean it. after a shower the mods all steamed up and wet I then just dry it to clean in a paper towel. always clean dry and smell free. never have any odors. I rarely leak anymore but if the inside gets a juice leak I run it under really hot water and scrub and wash it with soap and keep flushing it. wetting and especially just wiping a natural wood down damp occasionally hasn't been a problem for me at all. I also wetsand them whenever I do any kind of sanding.

I got one used woodvil that was really stinky but with enough water flushing and washing and even sanding the surfaces that were stained and re oiling, that one too is now 100% odor free. every used one I've ever gotten smelled at least a bit but after washing them down good all are now odor free and I keep them that way. you see how I am about details, I'd never be able to vape a stinky mod

I personally think that one of the nicest mods in the hand is the Woodvil...having said that, if I could only have one, it'd be a Grand...not for aesthetics, not for form or even function (I mod the crap out of both...same performance, and I HAVE to change the Woody's switch to a top switch, I hate side switches)...I just have this heightened anxiety when I'm out and about with a Woodvil that is non existent with a Grand.

Even when I'm modding them...working on a Woody is like surgery, working on a Grand is easy...just clamp it in a vice and grab the angle grinder...

Hm. Well... Any REO is a whole lot better than no REO... Multiple REOs is probably better than singular REOs... but how many can you vape at once anyway?

Once upon a time, a REO 14500 mini was with me all the time. Then there was a VV Woodville on my person all day every day for ~2.5 years or so. Then I got a Grand. It has been with me all day every day for about 8 months... But, sitting here at my desk, what I see in front of me is that REO 14500 mini, that Woodville, and that Grand. ----> My point being that any REO is in fact -=AWESOME!=-

So can the batch of woodvils that are coming soon be submerged in water? Or at least rinsed with water?

As someone who knows jack about the properties of different types of wood, how does one identify the 'natural' ones from the 'poly' ones? Which type of wood is the most hardy?

Are these things gonna be sold out hours after the sale opens? I mean, is the mad sale night so people can get the one they want, or get one full stop

Completely agree with danny. I think the woodies are beautiful, but realistically, id utterly destroy them. Not on purpose mind you. Ive litterally dropped my grand off a 12 ft ladder onto pavement. All that happened was my atty cap went flying.

This also happened to my woodvil, exact same circumstance=exact same result. Had another cap nearby and continued vaping on. Oak is tuff as nails :toast:
I have a black palm and a jatoba I baby. My oak and dibi race the dakar. I haven't carried a metal out for a long time. I vape them mostly at home. I hope to score a new woodvil and I hope it can be my new daily driver :vapor:
