Rob, that CNC is awesome. It looks like you mastered the software - the CNC in action proves it :)

Can the CNC make all the cuts or do you still have to do some with other gear?

Thanks for sharing this tidbit with us. The mod looks amazing. :)
Yes the new machine is great. The machine doesn't make all the cuts . The wood starts off as rough lumber planks . You have to plane it size it . So there is allot of work just getting it to a block of wood ready for the machine . I do the well hole and the button hole on the machine . The top and bottom profile is done the old fashion way by hand . I use to use a cnc router on the insides of all the mods so its not new to me . The old machine was very limited in what size bits you could use . So all the profiling had to be done by hand . This machine will speed the proses up not to mention that I have a tool changer on this machine .

Just spent the whole morning researching the Tormach ....... Damm if I'm not thinking about one now.
I miss my machine shop days :( Only thing I kept was a huge surface table some measuring equipment and a couple chop saws. I really need a good lathe again and one of those 1100 babies would be sweet. My wife would never see me :D

looking forward to sale day, since my Mini has broken yet again :(

i've already sent it back to Rob once for a repair, which he did beautifully,... only to have it broken in the same fashion as the first time. i really need to stop letting people 'try it out'. it only leads to disaster.

i feel like the woody could absolve me of the usual button-breaking problem, since the fire button stands separate from the on/off switch.

we can expect the sale around december 12th-26th... is that right?

the delrin button cover has deceived many-a-newbs into believing the Mini was in the ON position, when in fact, it was still locked.

needless to say, they pressed and pressed away, until hearing that horrifying CRACK that gives us Mini owners nightmares.

it's the only part in my experience that can be broken on such a sturdy device... and i've managed to have it happen twice.

i'm not mechanically inclined in any sense of the phrase, so i will be sending it back to Rob sometime soon for repair once more, but having a Woodvil was my original desire when shopping for a REO, but alas, they were ever elusive. hopefully i'm off the bench and into the wood game this time around...

*fingers crossed*

Yeah, but playing with your woodie on Christmas morning will be a joyous occasion! :sneaky:

Just woke up from an old man nap, but this statement seems a little odd....
Is it appropriate to 'play with your woodie' in front of your grandkids on Christmas Day ?

maybe I'll just go make some coffee and think this over...
