Not my intent at all, I'm not one to kick folks when they're down. I *do* enjoy getting everyone stirred up about the upcoming sale though.

On a more mature note, it's my understanding that Robert, being the kindly mod Master that he is, holds back a few of the woods, for folks that weren't able to snag one during the free-for-all. It's sad to come away from a Friday night brawl all bloody and bruised with nothing to show for it :)

shame on you :)

Hi everyone. On my 3d week of no vaping and its been easier while being distracted by contractors. The renters we had here before we moved back really tore up the place. Last is the painters and after $7K the inside will be quite nice. Next its the landscaping. Having family owning 5 of the 12 homes on our street we have a little juice with the city and I got THIS THIS directly in front of house. Not easy to have done in a residential area. :)

I hope each of you get your favorite wood REO on sale night. I know the anticipation is a killer and no matter how many how many times I have gone through it and it never gets easier....even if I'm allowed only one day's usage.

EDIT:

Congrats in advance to whomever is luckiest enough to get Woodvil #50!!!

OK, even though I'm to broke to even pay attention (Papaw has been through 29 Christmas' with 3 kids and 7 grands ;))

How far back in this thread does one have to go to find the Durability and Color (Fading) characteristics of each wood ?

EDIT; Nevermind, Found something called wood-database.com.

Not to stir the fire or anything ( ;) ), but we have to do *something* to kill time until Friday. So, for those of you who are looking to get a woodvil come Friday, here's a chart of what Robert has listed on his site as of earlier today. (Note that a different door causes a separate count, so a blood wood, will be counted separately from a blood wood with maple door). Maybe knowing how many are going to be on sale will affect your choice of which ones to try for, maybe not.

Oh, and before anyone asks, no, I'm really sorry, but I won't be doing this for mini's and 18490's, it's too much work :(

No - no need to do the 18490's and Mini's - don't need to draw any more attention to them! ;)

You can do it on your phone. Sale starts at 7 p.m. sometimes it is a few minutes late. That is the site comes back online a little after 7. Usually it is pretty darn close though. It should not take you too long to grab one and check out. Worth a try at least!!

Karen - a few times you've posted about care for the woods, and I've meant to bookmark it, but have forgotten. As we near the sale date, can you post it again for folks to see! The wax you recommended I ordered and will be here tomorrow!

It should be a sticky on the love and care of the Woodvils! :nods:

With the wood REO"s sale date getting closer I hope all the potential buyers have their Howard's Feed & Wax!

Even with the oiled REO's you can use the wax! Especially on the inside!

SunSheild is what I use. The UV protectant helps keep the colors from darkening or fading.

You can find it online or at some local stores. A bottle will last a very long time!

Use the Howard's Feed and Wax on them inside and out. I use a Q-Tip to get into all the inside crevices. Use a soft cloth and my fingers to do the outside of the body and door. Don't forget the back of the door!

You can get the Sunshield that has UV protection. It is recommended for woods that lose color or change color over time.

I have lots of wood REO's and they ALL get Howard's SunShield.

If you can, put it on and let it sit overnight. Next morning wipe and buff to a shine.

It is true that the poly coat won't absorb the wax or oil in the wax. But it forms a coating on the poly. Read what they say on the Howard's site.
