wow Denis that's a nice collection, love the purplehart birdseye and the walnut birdseye and the koa doored one, all were on my radar :). I wish I could have gotten 3 but I was stretching it a bit at 2. also I really had no idea I'd love them anywhere near as much as I do.

tonight I sanded my fiddleback black walnut down a bit and man what a difference. the natural wood finish is really spectacular. funny how I originally thought I wanted urethane and now I really don't even like the urethane. don't like the smell and the way it shines looked almost fake to me, almost like it was plastic. I really liked my natural finish ebony one so much better than the fiddleback when I first got them, but now that I stripped the fiddleback I can't believe how much more I like it, now I think I love them both equally. I'm amazed that I got 2 absolutely beautiful woods without even being able to even see what the main mod body even looked like before hand. I hold these 2 and think I got so lucky, these are probably 2 of the most beautiful mods out of this whole batch, but then I think hey, wait a minute, I bet everyone holds theirs and thinks the same thing  I'm still always going to miss that rosewood that got away though :( if that rosewood ever gets sold I would love to buy it or trade something for it

I'm really shocked at how much I love these. it's almost illogical for me, I really should like and appreciate the metal mods more. wood is soft and weak and delicate and logic should tell me I'm much better off with a metal mod, I never really had any love for wood anything but all of that goes away when I look at and hold these things. today I ran out of juice in my woody and I went so far as to take the juice out of my metal reo just so I can continue to use the woody. the shape and feel and look is just so damn good that I really love them so much more than I ever thought I could :)

I feel you - my metal REO's have been ignored since my Woodvils arrived. I'm sort of, well, in love with them!

I want to sand my poly, but I'm skeered I might mess it up! But the feel of the natural oil is amazing!

I bought the #40 Cocobolo Woodvil and the #89 Bloodwood/Birdseye 18490. They were both listed as oil finish but the 18490 came poly. They are both beautiful!! These are my 1st REOs and I can't believe how well they work.

I talked to Rob about the poly and he said I could send it back and he would make it natural but the dam little thing is growing on me!! Since I have both, if I want the feel of soft wood (EASY FELLAS) I can grab the Coco and if I want the feel of hard wood (omg) I can grab the 18490.

50! I can't tell you what this Reo Angel did for me! all week long I was looking at that mod thinking I didn't have a chance in hell. then I started having problems with my internet and knew I was doomed.

I just want all my other Reo lovers who think they too don't have a chance in hell to know that anything can happen on Reoville! I believe in miracles!

This miracle touched me on a more deeply personal level as well, and I feel it's good to share this. For a long time it has come to my attention that I tend to think the worst in people and situations. I've lost my faith in humanity. This gesture from a Reo Angel was like a message from my own angels that people can do things just to be kind.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here.... Dennis might play 'creepy stalker' and pretend to be underhanded, but those fine selections will not remain his forever. It would not surprise me if some of our Fixed Income REONauts get a PM from Dennis soon, with an offer tailored more to their price range. After all, this is REOVille. Even our Creepy Stalker has a Heart of (Woodvil) gold.
And I'm sure whoever gets them will love them as I love my three.
Yes he does!

The bottom one is gorgeous. Yes, you are so correct about angels in Reoville :) I have discovered this first hand also.

Is anybody else spending a lot of time scrolling backwards & jumping threads to look at the pictures? I was thinking in my spare time, I could grab all the pictures and put them in a thread with no talking. Anybody opposed to me taking their pics to yet another picture thread?

No objection with mine! Although I don't think I posted mine in this thread (my own pictures, anyway)

Jen, just a suggestion here. What about doing a album on Imgur with everyone's woods. One click to go and see all of them. You could then take your time putting it together.

I am thinking that another pic thread would be confusing. Right now people are posting pics in three threads and it is a lot of hunting as you said.

Whatever you decide will be fine with me Jen. You are a doll for doing this!

i'm on the fence about what to do with my 18490 walnut. I love the front, but not the back

I thought about sanding the back and re-staining or something

I love that back! Very unique. To me it is all about the grain patterns. Yours shows wonderful patterning and also different shades they just add to the beauty. I don't see the back as being flawed, rather as a pure statement that it is real wood, just as it formed.

Stunning!

No matter what, it's unique. My walnut is totally different. I wonder if they are from the same tree?
