This I copied and pasted from a board support web site"
"Thought of soldering a small piece of wire securing the negative connection between the outer barrel of the 510 to the plate itself (under the plate), but realised the DESIGN FLAW.... the 510 is press fitted onto the plate which was not giving a secure negative connection. Noticed, that the 510 was protruding half a mm above the plate. All I did was put all the screws back in place, put the mod on the floor , and with a small flat hammer gave the 510, 2-3 shots. All this did was, make the connection between the 510 and the plate solid. The protusion of half a mm also became negligible and the resistance on my JAC is back to perfect"

This sounds similar to the issues we had with the hcigar VT75 Nano. It was common with that mod, but this is the first I've seen of it with a JAC.

With the former though, there was a noticeable change in the vape, so it may or may not be related (uncertain, I).

I pulled mine out this morning to see if it was accurate. It’s off by .04 oHms pretty consistently. I build relatively high, so the difference isn’t a deal breaker for me. My 510 is slightly raised. Not sure I have the nerve to swat my sandstorm with a hammer though!

How did I miss that one. Engineering 101.

hit it with a hammer
if that doesn't work
hit it with a bigger hammer
if that doesn't work

OK. Pretty sure you have identified the problem. I haven't quite wrangled a solution out of it yet though. My 510 was almost flush with the top so there wasn't much movement available. I tapped it a few times with a hammer and put a drop of electrical contact cleaner down around the 510. It did move a little, now it's all the way flush. After that the resistance went down from 1.15 to 1.0, About half way to where it should be. Since then it's been going up and down between 1.0 and 1.1.

Fixing it might require taking the top off and trying to tap it up from underneath, it that's possible. Or using solder like your quote mentioned. But I just put a wrap on the mod so taking the top off would mean losing the wrap. Think I'll just wait until the wrap gets ratty and try it then. Maybe.

Seems like a press fit isn't a great design, especially with 2 different metals. The body is zinc and the 510 is SS.

Is there a ground wire from the board attached to the plate that the 510 is pressed into or is a chassis ground used?

I took the top off when I was messing with the paint. I remember seeing 2 wires coming from the top. I think they were red and white. Didn't notice where they went. I assume one was from the 510 pos, the other one probably from the underside of the top plate.

Hello, wondering if anyone in Canada have ordered from Jac Vapour and received the package with out an issue.

I will really like to get the sandstorm (25mm) mod. Thanks!!

Yes, twice. The mod shouldn't be much of a problem, although there's a small chance it could catch their eye for taxes. That would probably be about $15, but it didn't happen with either of my purchases. The main thing is not to get batteries or ejuice. If you do it will probably come though OK, but if it does get stopped customs could refuse to let the package through.

If Jac Vapour is selling the mod as a package with juice or batteries, get in touch with them and tell them you just want the mod because other items can cause customs problems. I did it once, and they were very helpful.

Hello everyone,

Just heads up to all of you that are not aware that is a 23mm size of the sandstorm.

I ordered couple of this Sandstorm mods yesterday. This morning I was checking my email and realized the confirmation email shows:

SERIES-B DNA 75W 23mm - Sandstorm

23mm!!!! I got super confused because I need the 25mm.

Tried to look at the website and is no information at all about the 23mm size.

Talked with the amazing customer service (chat) and well.....the 25mm is out of stock and yes now they are aware that is not information about this 23mm size on their site.

Order is already shipped and my only option will be return the package to UK from my pocket to be refund or exchange when the 25mm is available. Hope the manager can help me out on Monday....sigh* little dissapointed.

Seriously is not information or at least choose option from 25mm to 23mm when you place your order.

That's messed up.

I don't blame you for being disappointed. They packaged a product that there's literally zero evidence of existence?

Not good.

I agree. I wonder what's going on?

I know there were some issues with the rubberized black finish on the 22mm. I had issues with mine and ended up putting a wrap on it. Then I read JAC Vapour had improved the finish to allegedly alleviate that issue.

Maybe they gave up on the black finish and have started using the Sandstorm on both the 22mm and 25mm models. But one would think they would have updated the home page to express that change.

I've seen that the 25mm has been out of stock for some time now. It's not right to substitute the 22mm for the 25mm if you ordered the 25mm. Seems to be a communication breakdown or perhaps it was simply a human packaging error.

I'm willing to bet JAC Vapour will set this straight for you if you communicate with them.

Yes that is exactly what happened, a communication breakdown on both sides. Jac Vapour failed to inform on their website about this new 23mm sandstorm mod size and I failed to double check my order and did not catch the 23mm instead of the 25mm.

The chat customer service being really great so far (Sarah and Cleo) and hopefully is going to be a good resolution this Monday. But at this point JV only gave me 2 options, get the package and send it back paying from my pocket for a refund or exchange OR refuse delivery and will be automatically going back to the sender.

What is crazy is not even Customer service knew about the 23mm this morning. When I asked about sizes they replied with "Only two sizes 22mm and 25mm" and gave me the link:

The SERIES-B DNA 75W Box Mod | JAC Vapour

As you can see is not information anywhere about the 23mm. Only the black 22mm that is now discontinued and the 25mm sandstorm

Anyways they are going to talk with the web team about this Issue. Sorry about the long post I just trying to vent my frustration a little.

I've looked at the site, and the main description is still showing just the 22 and 25 mm. The part where you order does say 23 mm, but with that being new it's far too easy to misread it as 25 mm. I don't think they have any excuse for not making it clearer that this is a new/different option.

Sorry, Columbia, no wonder you're disappointed. I hope the manager can offer you a better resolution.

I hope so too. It's a large order. I've generally heard good things about their customer support, so hopefully they will handle it for you. It's a shame that you are going to have to wait longer than you might like for your Sandstorms, but hopefully a return and exchange can be made. Fingers crossed.

Thank you guys, yes their customer service is being really helpful so far.

One VERY important thing I learned from this experience is to never never never do an impulsive purchase 10 seconds after I wake up .....seriously now I see and underestand the importance of my morning coffee :)
