I've been noticing something with my brass Infinite version Stingray. Now I use a brass Magneto all day at work and it has no smell. The stingray on the other hand has a slight smell of pennies to it. I wonder if there is some brass mixed in these tubes. Anyone else notice that pennies smell. It's not strong but it's there.

They are brass? Did you mean copper?

Both are brass. Yet I get a little bit of a penny type smell from the Infinite Stingray that I never get with the smok Magneto. I work in a shipping/receiving area and can vape whenever I want so the magneto gets used a lot during the day. I've had the magneto for a while now and never noticed it. I've had the stingray around a month and just started to notice it. I was wondering if they mixed some copper into the brass to make that "phantom brass" that JD is supposed to be using.

I have come to the conclusion that the stingray is a flawed/poor design. namely the switch contact. as you all know it is a "dish". causing the only contact to be on the edges. subsequently that is where the batteries wrapper is! so it is actually making very little contact for most of us.

plus a spring has a much more linear feel than magnets. that is preference though.

I had used this thing exclusively for three weeks. I loved it. it is just very cool. than today I set up my brass king and there is no comparison. to the jd either. I have a bunch of mods. the stingray is the one I have to push hardest to get a good hit. even the scorpion(real) is much better.

I think what is happening at least for me is it is having to crush the battery wrapper to make contact. I f anyone can advise me on how to rectify this situation I would appreciate that. since I really do like the stingray. both the real one and mine that may or may not be a clone.

I guess you are very lucky then. it seems the wobble is inherent in the design. I did not even care about that. the clone and the jd are like the leaning tower. I mean most mods wobble a little on me unlocked unless they are recessed. these things are nearly lying flat standing up lol.

perhaps I am just very unlucky. I mean even my best mods all came with a scratch or whatever. I don't really care about that anyways. I am just saying I don't play the lottery or anything.

Here's my suggestion for what it's worth. Trade off a longer throw distance for a smaller diameter contact area to solve your switch hitting the battery wrapper problem. Disassemble the switch and reduce the diameter of the dished end. A Dremel with a grinding attachment should do it pretty quickly. 2mm reduction should do the trick.

I am using vtc5. I am now noticing I have to press hard on other mods with these four batteries I have. i tired some new ones and they work. sorry i jumped the gun and blamed it on the stingray design. i guess i wore out these batteries. they hold a charge. they have over 100 charges on them and i have run them down to 2.5v before. they work fine in the provari but i figured that. i guess these are done.

That would do it, running them down so low. They should be good for a couple more hundred charges but not when you strain the battery so. Try to never go below 3.3, 3.2 minimum before you recharge and you'll get much better life from the battery.

Thanks for the info - I didn't know that Fusionsmods made them for the Stingray. I purchased one on Saturday and it shipped today.

I think its new, or somewhat new, I saw it on YouTube. I definitely like this mod a lot more with the hybrid top cap, cleans things up a bit and makes it smaller, cant go wrong! And they do ship pretty fast, you'll have it in no time.

I have their FM-201 kit (20x1 threaded mods like the GP Paps) and the NEM-1 kit (for a Nemesis). They're calling the Stingray adapter the ST/R kit. From this and my past experience, they seem to regularly update their inventory with small batches (they had the ST/R kit in stock last week, but out of stock on Friday, but back in stock on Saturday for example).
