The whole point is that most people who smoke...want it to be as easy as possible to transition to eCigs. That means prefills...not eliquid. That means retail devices, not mods. That means smaller units...not bigger units.

I'm talking to the main stream...not the hobbyists. It's important to make this distinction and to remember that just because you don't mind the "work" that comes with owning a 510, that doesn't mean that mainstream america will.

If you watch my review of the JOYE and the Genuine cartomizers you will see that I like them. You will also note in my original post that I HAVE PLACED AN ORDER FOR 8 MORE PACKS.

I'm not against this unit. I am using it right this second.

Being able to see both sides of the coin is what makes someone business oriented vs. not being business oriented. Makes someone a good reviewer vs. a mediocre reviewer. I own a software business...I'm reviewing for the mainstream...not the modders, dripper, dippers or syringe fillers (even though I'm one of them). I can smell the eliquid on my hands...every day...I'm not sure if that's something that appeals to mainstream.

Why do you think that BLU is so popular? because they present you with a package that is easy to swallow for someone who has never seen these devices before. And that is why lots of people start with that unit, then seek out something better. (I'm not saying BLU is good...I trash it in my review).

All that said...I doubt you have actually used a GreenCig (not Green Smoke, easily confused) because you refer them as being the "EXACT" same product. And when I say GreenCig...I mean the actual unit...not just the cartomizers. The unit, PCC and cartomizers are by far one of the easiest and best QUALITY products on the market today. I can't count the number of thank you emails I get from people who use other units who decided to spend the (admitting high) price for the GreenCig G300 Nobel Pack.

The battery is different inside and out. It is not produced by anyone other then GreenCig. The lithium Ion battery is of a different quality which let's it hold it's charge longer. The PCC is above and beyond the quality of any other PCC I have used and again uses a higher quality batter.

I dont' like their higher prices...but I look at it as minimal for what is IN MY EXPERIENCE the best product I have used.

At least I have tried both products EXTENSIVELY...and given then both good reviews for different reasons.

Try not to look at it as SEGA vs. Nintendo...I'm not against you bro...but you have to have actually tried these things to pass judgment...and while I don't know if you have...I assume from your staments that you haven't...and therefor your knowledge on the subject (GreenCig) is nothing more then hearsay.

All that said...this is a 510 Thread...so...if you like the 510...already have one...and want cartomizers...you can't go wrong with the Genuine 510 cartos.

I'll be testing out the battery end drip method as soon as I get home :)

Hate to leave that whole quote up there but...

I totally agree with what you said. Although I am enjoying vaping in the style I am (using an eGo, discovering other mods, etc. - as a product to keep me off analgues but also to discover nuances as a hobbyist) it can be combersome and very expensive to find the juices you prefer, myriads amount of time to read the forum and find out which cartos work and don't work so well, methodoliges for cleaning attys and cartos, refilling them, etc. ad nauseum, you get the drift).

For a person asking you for advice, getting in to the e-cig world, to help them quit smoking I would very much hesitate them to troll the forums here at ECF, at least not initially. They NEED something that will work out of the box to start with and work WELL. If you have found something in GreenCig that does that, then, even if it is more expensive of a kit, is it really more expensive than the person trying so many other things hit and miss - and let alone the TIME involved!?

I have spent hundreds of dollars in the past few weeks AFTER I had spent 130.00 on a Green Smoke kit (I know, not the same). If someone could have directed me to a GreenCig (if it works so well out of the box as you say) I would have been so grateful. Then, as I discovered more and more knowledge about things I could try other things at my leisure and within budget. As it is you can almost feel like you are constantly doubling down until you find the right system and combination. A kit that gives proven performance, proven flavor, etc is valuable. That company did alot of R&R to present something palatable to the mainstream and packaged it for a one-stop option - you can't compare the cost of a kit like that with $29.95 for a Riva (which I just recently also purchased). There is much less of a learning curve with what you are presenting and it will get them off on the right foot. No e-liquids to buy, no hit and miss on what cartomizers and attys to buy, etc. etc.

IN the past two weeks I have purchased e-liquid from five different vendors and 75 percent of it I would not buy again, so money down the drain while I find out what I like (read: expensive!). I have had troubles with a certain advanced carto design that a whole thread is based on modding it and getting it to work properly (read: expensive to buy the cartos, throw some away, buy different versions of it, etc). And this is just the monies spent, I am not even addressing the enormous amounts of time needed to become knowledgeable about it. I purchased a bottom feedign device that still required alot of effort to make work properly (squeezing a bottle to drip, how much is too much of a squeee, oops I flooded the damn atty, etc., etc.). I purchased other mods (maybe this will work better, etc., maybe this has the voltage to give me a better vape, etc). While those things can be fun to do if you have the will to do it and enjoy it, its not for everyone, it has become more of a expensive hobby for me. But you don't want to START someone else on e-cigs in this fashion.

I am liek you. I appreciate a streamlined and efficient well-made product and then give myself personally the option, as this has developed into a fine art and hobbyist pursuit, to further enhance that experience if I wish. But its really no way of getting in to it. Its no way of introducing your sister or brother or mother of acquaintance. I'd rather tell them..."hey go to xxxx.com site (in your case GreenCig) they have a great kit there that will get you going strong. Then later there are lots of other things you can discover, but just to get you started and avoid alot of frustration, start there." I probably wouldn't bother to mention ECF to them at first - LOL.

Here, there, everywhere!
So I love my Joye 510 Cartomizers, BUT.....

I would suggest don't try cleaning them. I soaked them in Vodka then rinsed with hot water. after 3 days when I would drip juice in them it would just run out the mouthpiece. So I took one apart and the filler was full of water still. So I took them all apart - 1st one ruined the thread with my pliers so I suggest putting a paper towel in between the pliers and the threads. 2nd one I cracked the plastic - so I used the plastic from the first one with the atomizer of the second one. On all of them the filler was still soaking wet. I dried all the filler off - put 15 drops in - put filler back in - put 5 more drops in - put the atomizer back on and to my surprise - no leaking and the plastic (since I didn't crack the rest) stays on with no problem.

I have been vaping on the same on all day.

Just my input - just be very careful when pulling them apart - you crack the plastic or mess up the threads - they are done:)

I love these cartomizers and do plan on ordering some more. I fill mine with the "dripping thru the threads" method, then I kinda roll them around in my hands, maybe to even out the liquid inside. I put the condoms back on them and let them sit overnight (initial fill). I store mine in an Altoids tin- with a paper towel folded on the bottom so they're not quite as messy. They seem to last a long time this way, way better than the regular atomizers and carts that came with my kit. I carry a couple of bottles of juice in my purse, my altoid tin full of pre-filled cartos, and my pcc and I am set for the day!!

Also, do NOT try to clean these by boiling in water over the stove- what a mess lol! They kinda just melted after only 2 minutes. Deback (caramel apple icon) has a great cleaning method (using a syring w/cone that you can buy @ Walmart) in her blogs right under her user-name, if ya'all wanna check that method out. Mine are toast, so I will try cleaning my new batch after I'm done with them.
Have a good week everyone!!

Laura - It's better to flush out cartos, rather than soak them in vodka or anything else. Then flush out the excess water with a syringe and plunger. Leaving cartos saturated with water will take a very long time to dry.

I've described all of this in my blog (the link is over to the left). It takes about a minute to flush out a carto, and then dry by a fan for at least 2 1/2 days.

I'm referring to the Boge/SLB 510 and KR808D-1 type of cartos. If you're referring to the Joye cartos that are enclosed and have to be filled with a needle (or drip into the threaded end hole), then I agree, I would never clean them.

Thanks, Heartbskts! Yes, I just remembered that Joye 510 cartos can be flushed using the method I've described in one of my blogs. Srcowell has used this method, and he actually gave me some extra tips after he found a message I had posted about this flushing method (which I found when watching a YouTube video).

I'll mention here that the Joye eGo Mega cartomizer cannot be flushed using this method (for anyone wondering...)

Teh mega cartos seem kinda "airy"..but they both work well, and produce. For how cheap they are made, they do good. Just the build quality is iffy with all the plastic. Only other downside if you have to give them time to wick during a hard vape session. 10-20 pulls and they will burn. And it makes sense with how tight the coil is wrapped around the wick...but all in all, its a just a preference..boge and joye are both good, just have their strong suits and downfalls.

I would recommend not cleaning the Joye 510 cartos unless you are changing flavors, and even then it may not be necessary if the old flavor is not overpowering, and the new flavor is strong or would blend well with the old flavor. Definitely you should not boil them or even use heated water. No hotter than your tap provides. I just use tepid water myself. But the key to making them usable again quickly is to use a syringe like this to flush the water through them, then pump the cleaning syringe forcefully until you feel the water has been mostly pushed out. 50 quick pushes with the plunger is adequate, but be careful because these cheap plastic syringes break easily. Don't draw back to far while plunging it.

What I do next is optional, and some may disagree, but I use the same syringe to draw Everclear (180 proof clear alcohol, available at liquor stores) through the syringe. The alcohol works as a solvent to break down anything the water didn't, but it also dries out the fiber filler quickly. You can try this outside the carto first to see how it works. Put a drop of water on a paper towel, then put a drop or two of the Everclear where the wet spot it... and watch it dry! If you rinse with the Everclear, be sure to use the same method to pump out the excess, forcefully pumping the syringe into the sink until the spray coming out is minimal. If you have a spot in the sun to set them, they will finish drying faster. The alcohol will dry very fast and may even add a little kick to your e-juice. BE ADVISED, EVERCLEAR IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR CONSUMPTION (except by die-hard alcoholics). It's used as a solvent to clean machinery. It's doubtful that it would ignite from an atomizer, but you use it at your own risk. Let it dry out first. Sometimes, if e-liquid is too thick, I'll add a few drops of the Everclear to dillute it. It's also a good base for making menthol drops by crushing menthol crystals and dissolving them in a little Everclear. You can then add a few drops to any e-juice to make it into a menthol juice.

Frankly, after having cleaned a couple dozen of these at a time, I was tuckered out. It's more work than it's worth, IMO. Just keep the same flavor in them, then toss them when they are not working well anymore. But the syringe I linked to is useful for cleaning out a bad flavor in a carto. The rubber cone perfectly fits onto the 510 carto and holds it firmly while you flush it.

I will say that teh joye cartos both break pretty easily if ya need to..Teh threaded end is just pressed in, and will snap off easily to expose the filler inside..so if ya break one, don't stress it, just press it back in, and dont lose the top of it...easier to clean that way too...to each their own:p

I've accidentally pulled the plastic body of the carto off the metal base simply by over-tightening them onto the battery. The metal threaded end with the atomizer is a whole working unit by itself, while the plastic body holds the filler. I've thought about replacing that filler with something more durable, but since they only cost about $1.60 each, I can't justify working that hard at it! :)

The same syringe kit is available at Walmart for about $1.76. Save about 60 cents and get it at Walmart! haha

I'll agree with you about not cleaning cartos. Having done that, I think it's pretty much a waste of time, unless I need to flush out some old nasty juice.

I haven't tried it with genuine Joye cartos (those are hard tip/glued right?) but on the Boge/SLB 510 cartos with the pop out soft tip, I've gotten some decent results with the boiling method. They don't seem to get as "refreshed" as a normal atomizer does after a boil and I haven't had much success really getting flavors out, but once the juice starts getting a little gummed and gunked up down inside the boiling seems to help clear the works out. Just pop out the soft tip and go to town.

I am only 1 week into my new vaping hobbie ... I have only been using carts .... but after reading all of this I think I will be trying cartomizers. After week 1 .... I have already purchased over 10 diff flavors, and I only have 5 carts, so I have no choice but to mix a few juices. So, 1 cart could be a combo of ... Menthol, Coffee, Blueberry, Strawberry, Grape .... No Complaints though, as it still is a great experience!
