Does the 3.1 update do anything other than up the watts to "200"?

Just so you know, I've noticed that it's not a true 200w device.. Yes price is great and it's a solid device BUT it seems to max out at 9v or 25amps. I had .15 build in, and it only went up to 100w (stopped at 25amps), then with a .22 build it stopped at 137.5w again around 25amps... I was VERY surprised to see this.. (yes I did the newest firmware upgrade)

That doesn't surprise me, and actually makes me a bit relieved. As I've said in many threads, a two-battery mod simply can't do 200w safely (and a single battery mod can't do 100w safely).

Weird that those are the limits though. Resistance doesn't really factor into the amp draw on the battery with regulated mods. The voltage limit is usually what hinders reaching certain wattages, and with a 9v maximum the Cuboid should be able to hit 100w with around a .8 ohm coil at vs battery cutoff at 6.4v (3.2v per battery), depending on the efficiency of the chip. That's an amp draw of about 17.4 (at any resistance. 50w is 9 amps, 150w 26 amps, and 200w 35 amps).

It appears Vaporizers Distributor just sent shipment notification to carrier on 1/8/15 with mine according to the tracking that just popped in. Not accepted yet.

Apparently my email inquiry about why my tracking number issued on 1/2/16 wasn't tracking in the system has had its desired effect and they actually notified the shipper a delivery needed to be dispatched.

Edit: It is now showing as accepted 1/8/16 @ 8:17pm on 17track. If you are not showing tracking yet on your shipments from them I suggest you email them sooner rather than later.

I ordered the ss/silver one because I wanted something that'll match my ss atties. There really aren't many ss mods. The only one this comes to mind is the Koopor Mini/Plus, and perhaps the xcube.

Yup and both of those suck lol. That's why I got silver and a black one. I don't own any silver box mods all mine are black. Should look nice!

I had a Koopor Mini. Loved it, while it worked. The replacement was great as, while it worked :) (I still think I simply had rotten luck though). I have two silver Vapor Flask clones, but they are indeed silver, not stainless steel. Otherwise all my mods are black (well except my Zna clone and Cloupor Mini, but I only use tc nowadays).

I have, and still use occasionally, a stainless SXK Zero DNA clone. It came w/several battery covers but the grey matte is my personal favorite. To my eyes it's one of the best looking mods out there. Too bad the chip is so bad. It was slated for a DNA 40 transplant but w/all the high quality/low cost TC mods coming out, who knows if I'll even bother.

Is the stainless version raw, uncoated stainless steel? Or is it coated in a glossy poly, like the Snow Wolf 200W 1.5, to hide the fact it's not truly SS?

Is the button solid metal as far as anyone can tell? Or a thin shell over a plastic housing? Does the button wobble when pressed off-axis? Clicky and "binary" or mushy / springy?

Thanks!

Hi,

This may have already been asked and answered, but I'm hoping someone will save me reading the entire thread.

How are you finding a proper TCR number for various wire types? How might they vary between single coils, dual coils, and triple coils? Should one TCR Number be good for a wire type, or do you find that it changes with things like coil diameter, and the number of coils? According to Steam Engine, it does.

I have a new Head type that has a 0.3Ω 5mm vertical coil made from three parallel and touching wraps of SS316L that appears to be 26g.

The Cuboid does not perform well with this Head when set to its SS316 setting, so I used the Steam Engine Wire Wizard to get some TCR Numbers...

SS316L 26g, 5mm coil
Resistivity 5.82 Ω/m = 0.0582 Ω/cm = 0.00582 Ω/mm = 6.365 Ω/yd = 2.122 Ω/foot = 0.177 Ω/inch

Single 26g ,0.879Ω <--- (the approximate wire length for one of the three in this Head)
Heat flux per Watt: 4.80 mW/mm² = 0.00480 W/mm²
TCR in vaping range 879×10-6 (that's 879×10 to the -6 power)
TC precision 773

Dual 26g, 0.440Ω <--- (the approximate Ohms for two of the three in this Head)
Heat flux per Watt: 2.60 mW/mm² = 0.00260 W/mm²
TCR in vaping range 879×10-6
TC precision 386

Triple 26g, 0.3Ω
Heat flux per Watt: 1.53 mW/mm² = 0.00153 W/mm²
TCR in vaping range 879×10-6
TC precision 292

The Memory setting default TCR value is 120. I have tried 120, 292 (for Triple), 386, 414, and 440. I did not try 773, but none of the other values worked adequately. The problem may well be that it has 3 parallel SS316L wires. So I'm wondering what you would set the TCR value to for this Head.

Thanks in advance,

VG
.

Hey there. So, "TC Precision" is not the "TCR" value.

TC Precision is an approximation of how accurate a given wire is when factoring in the TCR along with the base resistance of the wire and build (higher resistance builds are in theory more potentially accurate for temperature control).

What you'll want to do is take the TCR value in scientific notation and convert to decimal. E.g., 879x10-6 = 0.000879.

Then take that number and convert to Joyetech's four integer format: 0088 (after multiplying x10 -- Joyetech's format -- and rounding the last digit if required).

Also, the TCR will not change if using all of the same wire type. It doesn't change with mass, no matter how exotic the configuration. It's only when combining different material types that the TCR value will change.

This is why we'll see the same TCR for all the builds you posted (and why that TC Precision value was a red herring).

If you're using all of the same wire material, I've done the work of converting into Joyetech's format here, along with providing some alternate TCR values: The Ultimate TCR List

If you're going to mix metals in your builds, then of course you'll have to start with Steam Engine and convert from there.

Also, on why some of those large, crazy values worked at all for you: it essentially is putting the mod into wattage mode, except for maybe an extreme out-of-bounds heat value like dry firing a coil.
