Has anyone gotten a unit without the "happy new year" message on the back? If so, where?

Also, is the stainless version coated with a glossy lacquer?
My grey one was from Vapor Tek. Only thing it says on the back is joyetech and Cuboid 150 w. It's now a 200 watt after the update. Guess they could have left the 150 off.

It seems slightly warm in color, like a zinc alloy, but that could be the gloss coating, or both.
I swear I read that the silver one was a "zinc-alloy drawn finish" meaning to resemble a brushed stainless appearance. I just can't find it again.

Keep in touch !

They sent my tracking # on the 2nd. Took more than 24hrs after my reply was received from Kevin for my tracking just to say the shipper was notified. It was almost like they printed the labels in anticipation of a delivery from JT and it was delayed and shorted badly and if you complain, they bump you up the waiting list.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that too and thought the same thing.

It bugs me when materials try to masquerade as something else. Just let it be the thing it is. The "truth to materials" tenet and all that. That brushing looks like it was trapped in a car wash. They should have just let it be polished Zinc.

I only have one "stainless steel" regulated mod that is real 304 SS and it wasn't cheap.

So I guess at its price point, I shouldn't complain.

Has it been confirmed this can be charged through USB at all? Be it plugged to a PC or to an outlet? I love my VTC Mini, size, power, etc but battery life is a bit meh :/
I believe onboard charging is provided but Joytech recommends against it. I have one on the way. My plan is to use a separate charger for overnight charging and use onboard charging only when I am present such as at my desk or in the car.

It appears that joytech also recomends the batteries used should be operating within .3 volts of each other and this may be the main safety issue for both firing and recharging in a series setup. May be there is someone in the forum who understand the technical issue better than me.

Thanks, I'd get a pair of LG HG2's anyway (3000mah), I was just concerned with onboard charging as I don't feel like having an extra charger laying about :/

Joytech recommends 25 amp batteries if you plan to go to 150 or 200 watts. The LG HG2 is 20 amp. I too will use the LG's but I never fire above 40 watts so now I'll be more careful to keep it that way. I have an external charger and will use it for overnight charging on the batteries for the cuboid. I wonder if the cuboid can display the volts of each individual battery so it's more convenient to see if they are within .3 volts of each other.

It can. While "Off" hold the fire and "down" buttons for a few seconds... It will display the voltage of each battery

Someone should give the hint to joyetech that a future update should allow a choice between battery bars or battery voltage on the main screen.
