I just ordered an evic today and I can't claim to be any sort of expert on these kinds of batteries as I've only ever used ego batteries but I know that most electronics with rechargeable batteries advise to avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 120 F. Whether this holds true for 18650s I don't know, but 98 F seems a bit lower than it really needs to be. Obviously it's better to be on the conservative side than risk a catastrophic failure but in most parts of the country the ambient temperature is going to go above this and it would render the device unusable outdoors. I can't imagine these batteries being terribly useful in any device PV or otherwise if they couldn't take more heat than that. That's just my best rational guesstimation though.

When I hear prolonged exposure I think like sitting on a dash in the summer being exposed to that temp. not operating temp. However, the ambient outdoor temp arguement does make a lot of sense. I know there are some battery experts in here. I just set it at 35 C because it was running at 32 C and when I did the upgrade to 1.1 it set the alarm to 0 so it was on all the time.

I love my evic. its sleek and works fine. It only goes to 11 watts and 5 volts but that's fine for me. The only thing that bothers me is the rattle of the clicker and the sleep function but now I found that I can change the time for when it sleeps.

Just got my evic about 30 minutes ago and have to say I absolutely LOVE it! Of course this is my first AVP but compared to my twists this thing rocks, flavors are soo much better. Not a huge fan of the turn dial but I can live with it.

Doesn't hurt that I got it for 40% off either.

What is a good temperature to set the alarm at?? I don't know how hot the batteries can normal run safely. I set mine at 35 C which I believe is about 98 F. I am just not familiar with these batteries enough to what what is to hot.

I used 40 C which is about 104 F for nothing but arbitrary reasons. I think the alarm is more protecting the electronics than the battery. When it gets hot enough to cause battery safety issues, you would have put it down already.

Looks like I'm the contrarian here but I've had my Evic for about 3 weeks now and I'm a bit disappointed in it. I use a lot of different RBA's and Evic doesn't seem to like most of them. I used to think my Provari was picky about attys but Evic is even more sensitive than Provari. Many attys that won't fire on Evic will fire just fine on Provari, Ego Twist and GGTS so I know the problem is with Evic and not the attys. The sleep mode thing is pretty aggravating too and I really don't need a PV to count how many puffs I took and how many seconds & tenths of a second each puff was lol. All in all wish I had my $100 back. I could buy 4 Ego Twists for that.

Just got my evic in the mail about an hour ago. Just wanted to give my first impressions on it. It is smaller and slightly heavier than I was expecting. Of course this is my first mod so I can only compare the size and weight to a 1000 mAh ego-twist. I was pleased to see that it came with the v1.1 firmware already installed. As far as the control ring is concerned, I can see why people comment on it having a little bit of a rattle though it doesn't really bother me all that much. What does bother me is the left/right movements of the control ring to navigate the menu seem the opposite of what is intuitive to me. When I use it to adjust voltage/wattage I turn left to decrease and right to increase (which makes sense). However, when navigating the menu system It seems to me that it should be turn left to move up and right to move down. Maybe that is just me though. All in all though, I am pleased with it and am looking forward to seeing what changes v1.2 brings.

I was fortunate enough to run into a deal I could not refuse here on the ECF yesterday & long story short bought a New JoyeTech Evic kit in box never opened really really a steal of a price. Thing is I only had a tiny window of time yesterday to read up on the battery and its specs and what all it does. So im looking for some Owner experience and info. Tips, warnings, do's & dont's etc.. Thanks for your time! Kelly (super excited) Henning.
100% positive. Had it for a month now, would buy it all over again.

I read that the new update on joyetech.com fixes the issues wiyh the sleep limitations.
Yup, 1.1 firmware update did.

Anyobe have an accurate amp limit on this?
5 volts & 11 watts max.

Well- I've had mine for some time now.

There's two sides to it.

First, it's an excellent VV/VW/Regulated PV for low wattage vapers. Also very good as a first regulated device.

On the other hand, I don't like the draw on the 510 connection, it's finicky about what can connect to it, and the software does not work on both of my computers (Or stopped working after firmware 1.1)

It kinda leaves me feeling "meh". I use it all the time- but never end up loving it or hating it. Maybe that's a marketing ploy.... if you cannot tell if you like it.... you keep using it trying to figure it out?

:p

Sorry if I am retreading but I noticed a bunch of new color tubes, top and bottom caps for it on Joye's site. Also, I noticed a 3400mah Sanyo NCR on there too.

I like the new color options

MSRP looks to be 15 bucks but I am not sure if that is just the tube or tube/top cap/bottom
Cool beans !!! Thanks for posting.

The beta lets you do exactly that. Looks just like the photo above shows, W/O, or V/O.
Oh yeah ... just saw that ... lol ... I didn't suspect it would be on there. Looking really good.

I also just noted after getting some instant roof patch tar on the eVic it came off with a paper towel only, so I assume it must be a special anti-stick surface on the handle not too dissimilar to that found on cookware. Usually acetone/white gas is required to get this stuff off.
