Don't have my Evic yet, but if I can't use my favorite atomizer witch is running with a 1.2 ohm kanthal coil at 13 watt and it does boost to 30 watts for a second it would be really bad.
I wouldn't worry about it for a second.

I'd like to know how the 30w pulse is used to determine whether the coil is VT capable or not. It seems probable to me that the autosensing algorythm that Joytech uses with the information obtained from the pulse is related to the issue of dropping out of TP and into power mode as well. They really seemed to have designed it to work best with their TP coils, which doesn't bother me because as a slow direct lung hitter, the ego one mega fits me fine. The VT doesn't even detect my V1 Kanger Subtank, apparently because, as someone said earlier in the thread, the spring loaded pin of the Subtank doesn't play well with the spring loaded 510 on the VT.The joyetech reply...
I use 3 sub tank minis on it and they're perfect. 510 on the subtanks are held in with a grommet, not spring loaded.Damn! I use Kanger STM and plus!

The STM works fine with the VT apparently. I'm not sure, but I think that in the plus Kanger dropped the spring loaded pin which was in the original V1 that I have, so you're probably OK there as well.Damn! I use Kanger STM and plus!

The original Subtank had (has) a spring loaded 510. I was an early adopter.I use 3 sub tank minis on it and they're perfect. 510 on the subtanks are held in with a grommet, not spring loaded.

It runs kanthal normally. No boost. It's only in temp mode that it does warm up at 30, then control to the set temp.
Hope your right, but I read something else on Busardo's folowup testing.

It only does that once... The first time you fire a new coil.... Once that is done, vaping the way you are accustomed to will be fineStill haven't watched his review. It doesn't seem to have any issues for me running kanthal. But I don't run it very low. Turned it down for a buddy to try at 15w for a while and it didn't seem to be an issue. But its not something I do regularly to be able to tell I guess.
If it does do a 30w quick heat-up then your best NOT to hit the button before your draw like your probably used to to warm up the coil. Start your draw a split second or more before you hit the button so the coil is sufficiently cooled when the 30w hits it at start-up.

If this is firmwarerelated do you guys think Joyetech will fix that if we buy bad vts?

Well its not bad if its designed to do this.
I assume it's to check the coil type to determine if its ni, ti, or kanthal
I don't think I would have. In six months not only the firmware but the hardware itself will be possibly be outdated. Sure, some people have experienced it dropping out of TP (never happened to me), and if it's in power mode it probes a new coil with a 30 watt pulse (I haven't had a problem with it) and it doesn't play nice with my old subtank, but I am enjoying its looks, ergonomics, functionality, build quality and yeah, despite the small wick holes on the ego one mega tank, it's a great vape for a slow direct lung inhaler like me. So it's nice to save some money for the new technology down the road and still have a quality product. I think reviewers and some consumers are getting a wee too picky out there.I would've paid double for the ability to update firmware
