I don't know that juice getting into the button would make it "weak", but it can't be good for it. As for "weak", there is probably juice in the end of the battery too, and will need to be cleaned out with a cotton swab and let it dry. That could give a poor connection.

I know somebody has posted about how to clean out the button area, but I don't know personally, so I will bump in hopes somebody else will post the solution.

Juice can gum up the manual switch. I've had the same thing happen when I started dripping and put too many drops in. Had a flood and got juice all over the battery and around the switch. I took some electronic contact cleaner I had sitting around for cleaning switch or relay contacts and carefully sprayed a little around the switch. Then pushed the switch a few times and laid the battery in such a position so the switch was pretty much facing down. Left if sit for a while and it seemed to work much better. You just don't want to flood the switch with the cleaner. You can find the cleaner at Rat Shack or online at say Jameco. It evaps. quickly, so not much of a residue problem and I think it diluted the juice enough to let it flow away from the contacts on the switch.
That is just my experience with one battery.... YMMV... Good luck......

The weakness is probably due to something else, the button should either make contact or not. You must have done some major dripping since it's a sealed battery. I'd recommend always using the cone when dripping and make sure the cone is snug so if you do over drip the cone will catch it before it has a chance to get outside and in the battery button again.

As far as cleaning, get a Q-Tip with alcohol and clean the inside of top of the battery good along with the threads, both inside and out. Blow that out good to get rid of any access and give the rest a chance to evaporate. As far as the button get some contact cleaner with that wittle bitty straw nozzle and position it, best you can in between the body and button and just give it a quick squirt. Give that a chance to dry good and you should be good to go.

Don't see what that would hurt. I use Q-tips moistened in some solvent that will cut the built up juice, be it vodka, isopropyl alcohol, whatever. I don't have the cotton dripping wet, just moist. Then I gently clean the threads, and whatever else is exposed and needs to be cleaned up. Then let it air dry or you could use a blow dryer on a low temp. setting. This has worked fine for me and I so far have not killed a battery.
Hope this helps.....
