I have had 2 provari's fail in the past 3 years and was wondering if anyone else is starting to have issues with theirs, and I take care of mine, clean at least once a week and has never been dropped. Unit 1- intermittently wont fire, Unit 2- Just started firing at 6 volts output only no matter what its set at. Maybe its just my luck and I am not downing Provari's since I own two,, just don't know that I will be buying another one.

Sounds like bad luck on your part. Three years of use isn't too shabby in my book, but you don't want to hear that now. Sorry they're being rude.

I've been following posts on ECF and the Provari sub-forum for 1.5 years and Provari's seem to have the best track record of any PV. My first Provari turned 1 year old last month and my second one will turn 6 months old next month and I've had no problems with mine.

What's great about owning a Provari is you can ACTUALLY GET IT REPAIRED for a reasonable cost and have it back within a week. Try doing that with any other company.

Standard Service Repair Costs

Replace Window and screws- $10.00
Replace Circuit Board - $65.00
Upgrade to V2 - $20.00
Replace plastic pushbutton - $5.00
Repairs to the circuit board - $25.00
Cleaning - $20.00
Replace top cap - $15.00
Broken Cartomizer Service - $10.00
Return shipping within the USA - $5.00

Have you cleaned the battery contacts inside the Provari with isopropyl alcohol? Provape suggests doing an alcohol dip for routine maintanance. Also have you cleaned the battery cap threads with an antioxidant like Noaloxx? With unit 1 it sounds like you are having a disruption of the battery's conduction, and these two tips might help.

Sorry about your Provari trouble. Three years is a long time for an APV, imho, but not long enough, I understand. The Provari though does require repairs from time to time, and I'm quite happy that no matter what goes wrong with them, they can be repaired at reasonable prices and returned to "like new" condition. I've heard many stories in this regard. I understand that you might want to replace them with something else, but wonder what you could replace a Provari with? I have a Semovar, and it has better performance than the Provari in tests, but only slightly, the Nivel chip is considered by most experts to be superior, but no one can tell me how long it will last, and it costs more than the Provari, so I use it far less, and really baby it. Not so with my two Provari's, and I've dropped my full size black Provari more times than I want to admit. The mini has never seen the floor yet, knock on wood. I have found them to be unbelievably durable, especially compared with my other 16 APV's, the worst of which has been the popular eVic (V1). I haven't used any China device for any extended length of time because I've used so many over only 9 months, but I certainly don't expect them to last much longer than a year as a full time device. Plus, my Provari's get all the daily work, anyway. I'm going to sell at least half my collection soon, as I know exactly what works for me, and the Provari's and Semovar and iTaste 3.0's serve my needs better than anything else. I also love the sigelei V3/V5. My next PV will be a Just GG with an Ithaka, then I'm completely done on gear. I have found the high-end stuff performs best, has all the qualities I'm looking for, and is just better, as you would expect, i.e., you get what you pay for. I don't need 25 PV/APV's, but I probably need 10 or 12, so half my gear is going bye bye, but not the Provari's. Love them, and certainly didn't when I started. I know I'm not telling you anything as a three year Provari owner, but I guess I'm just giving my two cents to other posters and readers of your original post. Again, so very sorry for your Provari's. When are you going to get them fixed? I believe they have value even not working right if you wanted to pass on your problem to someone else using the classies. Best of luck to you. Feel your pain.

Wow, those services prices are really reasonable. I had no idea they provided service like that for the Provari! One more reason to love mine.

Do any of you know when they switched over to 2.0? How do you know if you have a 2.0 or a 2.5 version compared to the original?

No, not really. Pretty sure they had already switched from 1.0 to 2.0 before I started vaping in 4/2012. This was the upgrade of total amp limit from 2.5 to 3.5 amps.

Version 2.5 was released in Spring 2013 if I recall. Purely a cosmetic change in the milled design for both the Standard and Mini versions, the inner electronics stayed the same.

The Standard's straight vertical lines became swirly "crop circle" designs. The Mini added a horizontal line on either end of the teardrops. Both lost the painted Provari logo and adopted the milled Provari logo.

Current is measured in amperes and I suspect that's what you meant 'cause if your ProVari is capped at 2.5-3.5 watts from the factory, I'll eat it!
