my take on it is if its not ok to smoke, its not ok to vape ( unless with permission )....the self-entitlement of "some" vapers just blows me away, pun intended. Next thing will be its ok to let a big fat stinky one "rip" in an elevator because no one said no.

Oh, come on... Crop dusting an elevator with a well placed "Silent But Violent" right before you get out is the greatest thing ever!

Seriously though, vaping big huge clouds in a theater would get real annoying real quick... I remember when it was acceptable to smoke in theaters, and that was pretty annoying as well.

If I lost a bet and had to go to a theater, I'd just buy a cola wid extra ice and exhale my vape thru da straw into da cup; open stealth vaping at its best! Just think of da flav combo possibilities...
BigGrin-1.gif

Good idea! BUT! What would be more annoying? Big vapor clouds? Or the guy in front of me blowing bubbles in his cup every few minutes like a little kid? LoL

I would like to see and end to the practice of the continued repetition of urban legend/myth of the ban-causing militant vaper. (aka BCMV)

I have repeatedly asked for documentation, pictures, video, etc. throughout this thread of this elusive creature. Many people who disdain public vaping are here taking the usual shots at the practice, and I respect that right to speak their minds and I respect their decisions. We all must make our own decision for ourselves of when to vape, and when not to. What I cannot stomach, is the repetition of this canard when there is zero documentation to substantiate this absurd fantasy. I interpret this myth creation of the BCMV as some sort of guilt/manipulation tactic with no basis in fact. I am not going to let it go unchallenged.

Someone prove me wrong, if you can...I am prepared to be proven wrong. It certainly won't be the first time!

The ban-causing militant vaper doesn't exist! The tooth fairy, the Unicorn, and the honest politician are the equivalent of the ban-causing militant vaper.

I read here many times a week about ban X because guy X was running around "blowing clouds of vapor in people's faces". I am not denying militant vapers exist (but I do think they are very rare). I am not denying bans happen. I challenge the causality between the two.

I am challenging the purveyors of this tale: give concrete evidence that a militant vapor X caused ban X. Continuing to represent that as a factual sequence of events (without citations) will be challenged by me every time I see it.

Expect it!

now you made me sad.... :(

But I do agree with those who have rarely seen a vaper in the wild - same here.
Let alone one blowing those legendary big huge clouds - same here.

And I no longer go to movie theaters either.
Too much money to waste on short entertainment preceded by 30 minutes of advertising, even if I do bring my own bag of gummi bears in my purse, as I never chose to pay those outrageous prices for the snacks and drinks.

Oh, and if NiNi's son actually saw some teenagers doing that .... hm..... I have seen a lot of teenagers do a lot of things in the 53 years that I have walked on this earth.... (heck, I even WAS a crazy teenager once ;) ) - and if public opinion turned against every thing that crazy teenagers can use to do crazy things.... oh my.. there would not be many things left in this world :D Heck, in the Stone Ages they probably beat each other over the head with sticks ... and to this day, I have not seen people turn against trees :D

As with anything how you do it matters. In a movie theater just sit in the back and your cloud won't obscure anyone's view. But vaping WILL be banned soon because of selfish users. Just like anything else.

My dog is well trained, if she can see (or hear) me I have control. She will lay down by hand signal from a hundred yards away, regardless of her surroundings, she trusts me because I have not abused that trust. But I cannot take her to public places off leash because others have abused this and now it is a law.

The more popular vaping becomes the more abusers there will be, the less places you can do it. Get used to it.

I was on a light rail train late in the evening with 4 others in the car. Only one guy close to me and he was texting or playing a game on his phone. Every time I exhaled his head snapped up, but not in time to see the vapor. He KNEW something was there, his peripheral vision was picking it up, but never did know what. It was amusing.

I never vape at church or inside during retreats. Most of the men at my church are smokers, so I just pop out when they have their analogs and vape away. It's a good way to get conversations started about vaping vs. smoking. Actually converted one guy to the vape side :)

I always take my PV to movies but never use it in the theatre itself. I reserve it for the lobby and the restrooms if I feel particularly bored or anxious during a flick.

On another note, I went to the State Fair in Dallas and they have a parade near the end of every day. I sat towards the rear, away from most people so I could vape without bothering anyone. There were 4 others there doing the same! We had a good time comparing equipment. It struck me as odd that we all chose the same place. Anyway, there are plenty of responsible vapers also.

:smokie:I think it would be rude and inconsiderate to vape in a theatre and the worst part is it could cause non vapers to have a negative attitude towards vaping before it ever becomes a norm of everyday life.
If you have to vape while watching the latest movie, I believe there are still a few drive ins around and you can hide your buddies in the trunk. lol

Last week, I blew a HUGE cloud of vape directly into someone's face. A stranger's face. Because the ......... asked for it. I was walking with my wife and son through the mall, and the eager but idiotic salesman for a e-cig kiosk blew vape from a cig-alike into the faces of passer-byers with a sales pitch of "It's just vapor bro, not real smoke. Try one" Yeah... Not the best pitch in the world.

So when I was walking by, he blew in my face. I took out my mech with my Nimbus and a dragon coil. Took a HUGE hit, and blew it all in his face. He wasn't happy with that. I told him to keep the good work if he wants to end up getting punched in the face in the near future.

These Kiosk guys (all of them in general) need to get punched in the face.

Generally, I would never blow anything in anyone's face. But yes, this guy had it coming.

Back on Topic. I hate movie theaters. Especially when people have a whole theater to sit in and decide to sit right next to me.

No one ever went to the movies when they were still smokers?? You sat through the whole movie without smoking. If you can't sit for two hours without vaping, you might consider upping your nicotine level. :)

Nicotine has a half life of 2 hours so upping the level isn't going to help those who need a more consistent supply. It could possibly make it worse in the long run.

But speaking of movies when there were smokers, nobody remembers when smoking was allowed? Why wasn't the smoke blocking the screen a problem then? They even had the smokers in the balcony where it was directly blocking the projector.

Me, I quit going to movies long ago. $15 to walk in the door to get way overpriced popcorn? I'll pass.
But if I did and I needed a puff I'd take one and be respectful about the exhale. At those prices there's some room for my enjoyment too.

I can't believe someone could not sit through a 1.5 hour movie without vaping. Is it really that hard? If someone really can't vape for 1.5 hours that person has a serious addiction problem.

People have lost any clue of common courtesy.

Ever hear the phrase, "people who live in glass houses..."?
Even if you are at 0mg you really have no room to talk about someone else's addiction just because they're more addicted than you are. You may as well go the rest of the way and join the ANTZ if that's how you think.
