1 more question.. Is it possible to fit too much cotton (from a q-tip) through the 1/16th in coil?? It seems to not be giving me as thick of a vapor hit as before, before I cleaned the coil/changed the cotton & flavor. Thanks again guys!

EDIT: The coils not sizzling as loudly as it was at first and not giving me as thick of a vapor hit as before; maybe just need to build a new coil?

Oh boy temco's ebay department is fast. I ordered my 30 yesterday and it's already shipped. I hope I get it by the end of the week to experiment. I hope it's better than the 32.

Temco is fast fast fast. I'm basically a 20 minute drive from them so delivery from order to doorstep was 2 days. I got the 30awg and am quite happy with it.

ok, built my first few micro coils on my x9 protank clone BCC. first ones I was having flooding issues using cotton (cotton balls) because of the amount of cotton I was able to pull through the coil. so there were gaps. then I tried to use more cotton and really twist it up so i could feed more through and fluffled them back out at the ends. I added a huge flavor wick and placed the coil as low as i could. with 10 turns on a 1/16th drill bit shank I read about 2.8 ohms.

this thing really hits good. great throat hit. flavor is muted but I think I can live with it.

Too much cotton will choke the wick, it's better to go less. I lightly roll the cotton between my fingers and if it doesn't go through the coil without any resistance then I pull a little off and lightly roll it again. Cotton expands a lot when saturated with juice. I use the Protank post and don't have any issues. I do find that some juices don't quite suit the Protank, usually the more complex because it is always one flavor that wins out over the rest, i.e. Cinnamon Roll from MBV just tastes like cinnamon to me in the Protank.

Like Eric, I just pulse the coil and blow off the flaky gunk, I have also heard someone using the little brush from electric trimmers.

Are you guys using the protank heads or evod?

I've been using evod. I wonder if the protank heads would work better with the micro coil? Flavor and vapor wise.

I've never had an Evod or used their heads, I stay away from the plastic tanks. Been rocking the micro with them for awhile now and even when I get some extra heads for spare parts, I rip out the stock garbage and put mine in.

Good deal. I use the evod heads in the protank for a tighter draw.

Eric, when I first got my Protank, I tried using eVod-coils on it to tighten up the draw, but it leaked and gurgled pretty bad.. So I've been using protank coils, but with the evod top-post on them (this is all you need for a tighter draw). Until today, I switched back to the regular PT top post just to try it..

I just got my 1st eVod a couple weeks ago to see how I like it.. I had to get a 510-to-ego adaptor to even use it on my eVic, the draw was completely restricted without it. And even with the adaptor, think I got a faulty eVod or something, because it doesn't seem to connect to my evic well - I never get much vapor from it, I usually get mostly burnt air that makes my chest feel heavy and sometimes I'll cough.. Haven't used it much

Still loving my microcoil on my protank!! Might try to build another 1 tonight, maybe lower ohms (9 or 10 wraps this time instead of 11?).. I may even try to fit 12 or 13 wraps in (30g), if I can fit it.. The one I have now is 2.2ohm
:) I'm gonna buy some 28gauge kanthal too. What resistance should a microcoil be @, or is it all personal preference??

There is no set resistance to microcoils, the point is to get the sub ohm experience without the risk, whatever tastes good to you.

I just ordered some 28g kanthal. right now I'm running 12 turns with 32g kanthal @3.2 ohms. will my resistance be too low using 28g? I'm using a VW that won't fire under 1.4ohms. I'm hoping it will only drop down to about 2.5 ohms with the 28g.

For me, 29g kanthal at 10 wraps is around 1.8 ohms. You should be fine with 10-12 wraps of 28g.

ok i fit a 14 turn 28g kanthal in my protank. you physically cannot fit anymore using a 1/16" drill bit. I get about 1.7 ohms with this setup and fires beautifully. I made 4 of these for 4 protanks and each are performing great. It's performing so good that I will pass on buying a mechanical mod for awhile longer whilst I enjoy the microcoils that i have built.

it takes a little longer to fire off (i'm sure the mech. mod will fire instantly) but it's not like a min just 1 or 2 seconds.
