Hey all,
i just cracked my dead laptop battery and found 12x 18650 batteries. I'm looking for my first mod, so whatt to do with the batteries??? Any suggestions of simple mod for first timers?? I now own a Ego-T, and want something better, maybe a 5V mod or VV if i can get hands on the parts.
I als found found a Li-ion 7,4V 2000mah/15Wh battery, it's a flat stick about 12cm's long, 0,8cm thick and 2,5cm wide, maybe also good for a mod?? Nice and light battery. It'from a portable radio set.

Hope you have some suggestions.

Eek, I don't think I'd use batteries I found in a laptop, may not be protected and such. As far as first mod ever, you can never go wrong trying a silver bullet! Unless you mean VV mod which I'd try the a buzz pro, not too pricey and very nice. Unless money is no object then I'd go right to the Provari :)

the batts are samsung icr 18650, someone knows them??
How about charging single cell, 18650's is there a low cost solution on that, can i use my ego-t 650 charger for it?
Still haven't found good parts to make an VV mod yet, still have to look in some old PCB's of electronic stuff for recycling parts.
Can't find a good regulator.

Those are the same ones I got out of a laptop battery pack as well.

They work well in a lavatube.

I want to have a cheap solution to upgrade my EGO-T. I was hoping VV could give me just a little bit extra.
I was looking for parts i can recycle from old stuff, like computer parts for instance for making a mod.
So i found the 18650 and was thinking what to do with them, i want to build it myself, it's more fun than buying.
I also found the 7,4V batt, i thought maybe it could be of any use in a mod.
VV i like because i can then find out what my sweet spot is in vaping without rebuilding the whole thing, don't know if it is 3,7 V,4,2 or maybe 5V.

Sorry for my Engrish, i'm from Holland.

The cells are unprotected. The circuit board in the laptop pack was the protection circuit.
You said the pack was "dead". Some of the cells may be bad, all are OLD.

Old, unprotected cells should NEVER be stacked.

The DealExtreme protection board comes in two flavors. One has a single mosfet and the other has two (better).
Buy 5 and I think they are less than a dollar each.

I would read up on mod making before considering using these in a mod.

delchrys,
is seems you have a problem sourcing mod parts in Holland. That is a real shame as modding can be interesting. In addition to vaping something you made, it can be a learning experience.

With the 18650 cells (toss out any that are less than 2.5 volts) from the laptop pack I would only use a plastic box. At full charge they will hit harder than your eGo but it will be up to you to stop vaping when the cell gets low. Nothing to flash at you like the eGo.

I know a lot about batteries, mosty NiMH type from my Radio controlled hobby, just stopped when the LiPo's came into play.
My NiMH i charged with an Lab-power supply, i did it manual with an Fluke (voltmeter) attached, When the voltage dropped, i disconnected them and started racing. Then discharge with lightbulbs and recharged to race again :)
