I've just now discovered this thread after thinking "wouldn't it be nice to have a plug in style vape at home"
What I'm looking for is an AC to DC mod that can be inserted into the end of a Mechanical tube and deliver VV. I'd really like to plug this thing into the wall 120 or 240v and get a consistent vape using the tube. I see that provari has its own passthrough but would that work for any device? My aim is to either find or build something that will allow vaping at sub ohm .6-.8 consistently while having the convenience of a wall plug and a standard tube with firing button. Has it been done? Please direct me. Search just isn't working for me on this one.
Sorry if this is already in this thread. 99 pages is a bit much to sort through.

Are you talking about using a tactile switch with LM2596 regulator boards, or like, using a MOSFET so you can use a tactile switch on straight battery mods?

Hey RatDadJoe. I would like to know the answer to this question for straight battery mods. And if you know of a diagram to point me towards that would be great. Thanks

I have been working on solving the sub ohm part myself, and have been worrying about the amp limit of 3amps.. a 1.5 ohm coil at 5 volts goes over the limit.

I did find this... 5V 10A DC Cnoverter Buck 4 30V 12V to 1 2 30V 5V Adjustable Voltage Regulator | eBay

I would think this should be sorted out by now. When I imagined a wall plug passthrough for vaping I thought it was going to be an easy find. I don't understand why there are no battery sized inserts for tubes that would push variable voltage to any battery capable device. I'm going to look into the provari pass through and figure out a way to use it with a mechanical tube.
Where are the boards that allow >3 amps?

With the 2amp limit on these boards what is the limit on coil ohm?

Assuming you run at 5 volts at 2 amps, the lowest resistance allowed would be 2.5 ohms.

At a more normal 4 volts, you could go as low as 2.0 ohms without exceeding the 2 amp limit.

So even at a resonable 4.2 volts with a 1.8 or 1.5 your passing the 2 amp limit
