These LM2596 seem to be rated for 2amps. So are you only using standard resistance coils then to stay within the amp specifications? Just wondering if someone could provide some further details regarding this.

The 2 amp rating is it's constant output...we pulse these things, I'm currently vaping on a .7 coil on my passthrough, these boards are the Russian tractor of regs.

Alright thanks. Do they have a rated pulse specification? Is a heat sink required on the voltage regulator chip?

No "duty-cycle" spec that I'm aware of...this is just anecdotal...I'm convinced that the QC of these regs is non existent, but they're so cheap I guess that can be expected...I've bought these in bulk to build basic passthroughs for me and my buddies, some blow from just a good stern lookin' at, others (like the one I'm using now) have been passing a 5A+ (5-10 sec. pulse) for over a year?

But I should qualify what I'm saying with mine are not in mods, they're "free air" so heat isn't really an issue...but even then, at a $1.50 ea. I don't stress over it, It's just stuck to the top of my XBox PSU with some blobs of duct seal, when it blows I just yank it off and solder in a new one...if I was going through a ton of effort to build it into a box...maybe just avoid crazy sub-ohm's and excessive dry burns...

Ive built a couple of these, wondering if anyone can assists with showing/telling me if it is okay to use a USB connection like on a DNA20 to charge the batteries and also use ... passthrough rather the standard way with the . I dont know if this is possible =)

Since these are stepdown and we use batteries in series, you would need a balancing 2 or more cell charger. The DNA uses one cell or more in parallel, so the single cell charger works.

How would you hook up the normal pass through using the chargers ? Sorry i am very interested in these. I will leave the usb to the DNA ;)

I do not use chargers with these as I do not have a small balancing charger and the wiring would be a PITA. All my 2596 mods are set up to be used as passthrus with a on off on switch which selects my source.

For those who doubt the power of these boards. Here is one of my old builds I pulled out of a drawer. 1.7 ohm 28g vertical nano coil with hemp fiber on a Rocket. Powered by a 12v 5 amp source. Set at 6.2V showing 6.1V under load. So old and so much use the black paint has worn off the meter.:)

1.74 ohms under load.

17 watts

2.97 amps

Another quick question...how would one wire up 2 2596's to one power source? Is this possible? something like this... is it okay to wire up two to the same power input?

That is ok also just never use both at a setting that will go over the limits of the source. A long time ago I picked up a 12v 5 amp with 4 outlets.:)

Very nice :toast: I have nice lunchbox tin hookah type mod that kept me up late thinking. Only thing i must figure out now is how easy it would be to mod out the hose and tip to house a small fire switch and about 4-5 feet of wire (without looking funky or easily pulling/breaking the inside connection wires. I think im ready to go shopping for parts. ;).....oh yeah and a freaking 510 connetion haha..... i think i need to do some research on an RCA 510 connetion.
