Wow a bit pricey got a link for the display ? Do you just connect to the out on the board ?and got to 510 connection.
Did my first 2596 box last night. So much easier ! Had someone express to me concerns about running 2 of the 14500s on it. Is this an issue to worry about ?
Also since I am new to this how does this compare to the ever cool unit Ive seen people talking about ?

You can use 2 14500s, no problem you can also go bigger and more batteries if you want, I use 11.1v Lipo.

I tried to get that to work BJ, never could...Jhonutz tried to walk me through it...seems it works when just using the IC but not in module form...however...this is off of one of Nicotimes threads...it's how to wire a mosfet into a cct that's more like a drawing and a little clearer to follow...the thing to remember is you're switching the negative not the positive. Be mindful of your polarities but just pretend that the atty con is the 2596's inputs...I'm no rocket surgeon but it should work...

Oh wait, I remember now...the reason it doesn't work in module form is because the trigger is hard wired to ground...I never did do it but if you de-soldered and lifted pin 5 off the board then you could use the trigger...I'm just waiting on a shipment of 2596's (long list of buddies wanting PT's, plus I'm hard installing one in the ashtray of my car and pwr it off my cigarette lighter cct, now that'll be a weird mod:p )...I'll be wrapping my head around this subject again when they show...

I here you on Digikey shipping but at least you get the stuff super quick...even here in canada...3-4 days and the FedEx guy is at the door...I just wish you lived down the street BJ, I'd give you the stuff, lol...I have this pretty serious electronics store (almost commercial level) near by

RP Electronics - Test Instruments , Power Supplies , Inverters , Electronic Project Kits and more!

I'm swimming in resistors, trimmers, switches, Hammond boxes, etc...sure makes things easier, I go there on my lunch break and just think, oh and btw...what they don't have they'll order it in for you, guess where the get it from?...Digikey:p

All they need to do now is toss an ammeter on it a well and it'd be just about perfect...funny, I put an ammeter on my last PT if only for the bling factor...man!, I use it all the time....very helpful with SS wick re-buildables and spotting shorts
