I'm new to e-cigs and I ordered the xmod XL with the 50% discount. It arrived on saturday. When I popped the default 2.0 ohm atomizer in, it worked great for 1 days and I used it constantly.

When I decided to switch it up and swap to one of the extra 1.5 ohm atomizer I have, I keep getting a ton of smoke that tastes burnt. I tried the other 1.8 ohm atomizer as well and it has the same result. I tried dripping a few drops of eliquid on the top like some site suggested and it'd be ok for one or two pulls but afterwards it would taste like smoke again.

Yesterday I tried the two 1.8 ohm cartomizer that I ordered as well and after squeezing 4-5 drops of the e-liquid onto the top of the cartomizer, i let it sit for about 5 minutes. After i popped it in, the cartomizer burned for about 5 seconds (again, it was quite smoky) and after that the carto refuse to burn/heat up anymore. Thought I just had a defective unit, so I did the same with the other cart and the same exact thing happened.
I swapped back to the original atomizer that worked fine but that seems to be producing a lot more smoke than before. Am I doing something wrong that's causing all the atomizer/cartomizers to burn out? Is there something wrong with my unit in particular?

I also posted it on another forum and people told me that I need to put more into the carto and I mostly burned it out because I didn't put enough. My main concern is the atomizers. -_- It was pretty much working flawlessly until I decided to swap it out with a 1.5 ohm hybrid atty (default one is 2.0 atty), found out that it produced a LOT of burnt/smoke, swapped it back to the 2.0 default one, only to find that the original one was producing a lot of smoke/burnt taste that previously wasn't there. I'm really at a lost as to what's going on as I don't think a atty would burn out after a day of moderate use.

Any help/suggestions would be useful to a newbie like me!

The new hybrid attys love juice, don't be stingy with it. You should only need to drop like 6 drops on the top to get it primed. Then hold at a 90* angle and do a squish on the bottle and you will see some air bubbles come up which lets you know juice went into the well.
When you are using the device hold it a 90*+ degree so that you basically are gravity feeding the atty. If you are getting smoke and burn that is a sign that your atty needs juice.
Hope this helps.

^I agree with chief, bottom feeders take some finessing, even killed my favorite atty the same exact way. when you taste that dry burnt flavor, what you are doing is dry burning. which is bad for the atty, and most likely the one that wont fire was dry burned one too many times. if so may it rest in the big vapor cloud in the sky.
