So I got a PM that my video on the cloverleaf .9 ohm was too short to prove it can handle 12 second double draw. here is a 27 second vape on the same coil, now three days old, the batt was at 3.5v and the reading on the meter was over 3amps. The spitting of vaper even at the end shows that the coils were still getting wet and no coil glow. Clic on pic for video.

Just got my first evod and was planning to replace ALL silica with hemp but now I might try this. The question is...does this remove the health hazards that have been discussed about silica? Hemp being a healthier alternative is one of the reasons I started using it but is that being voided by leaving some silica in the setup? Don't get me wrong...I love the idea of being able to dry burn while still using replacement hemp wicks...and I'm loving the evod vape compared to vivi nova.

Eliminate, NO.
The probability of vaping a silica shard from wet silica wick is very small, and even smaller if you have a wet hemp wick covering it.

Setup a Kanger Protank with some Canadian 2mm hemp a friend sent me to test. 30g five wraps 1.3 ohms, one 2mm wick thru coil and 1 2mm overwick. Vaping Hangsen Indian at 9 watts and it is excellent. The 2mm Canadian is very similar if not the same as the first Lovepedal 2mm. Keeping up with my 10/12 second double draws.

Is the Canadian a 12 strand? Sorry, I can't remember...

Then I think you'd be satisfied with the French 1.5mm/12, as well: I find it on par with the Canadian 2mm, despite its smaller section.

So after trying cotton with success and wasn't happy with how long a wick will last me I stumbled upon this gold mine. I just got in my 7 strand from lovepedal today and I am done with cotton. BJ you have saved my vaping life. I tried to go back to silica but I am one who chases the flavor dragon and silica and carto wasn't able to do it for me anymore.

I have tried the oval coil with cotton before my hemp came in and it was an improvement over a round coil. I was always able to taste slight cotton with all the cotton wick since i chain. I followed your instruction on rinsing with dish detergent and followed by 2 boil with water change. I notice the water in the first boil was just slightly yellow.

I was almost going to stop vaping all together because I was not getting the flavor I wanted from my juices but not since the problem is solved thanks to this thread I am enjoying vaping with a book again.

So now I have gotten samples of the French and the Canadian 2mm/12 from friends and they seem the same as my original 2mm/12 from Lovepedal. All three are excellent. Also the new 2mm that I got from Lovepedal that seems to be a 3mm/12 is also excellent.

The French is a bit smaller and the same as my original 1mm/12 from Lovepedal that is actually a 1.5mm/12.

Here is my premium hemp stash. From left to right. New 2mm/3mm/12 from Lovepedal, original 2mm/12 from Lovepedal, Canadian 2mm/12, French 2mm/12, 1/1.5mm/12 from Lovepedal, 1mm/7 from Lovepedal.
My original 2mm from Lovepedal and the Canadian are the same, the French and the 1/1.5 Lovepedal are the same.

Do you notice a difference using multiple 1mm 7S from love pedal over the new 2mm?

If there is a difference I would love to pick up the 2mm just to have around for future tanks. I am using 3 strands of the 1mm 7S in my vivi nova, Vapeonly BCC, and Protank and they are all good. I can chain vape this stuff without a problem.

Also a sidenote. I have built a couple heads with the 30 guage wire and for some weird reason 1 head in the vivi nova and 1 head in the bcc suddenly dropped in flavor and vapor production. When I pulled out the heads for closer inspection I don't see anything wrong. The wire is still clean and no charing on the wick either.

Can't really say I have seen any vaping difference using multiple strands of 1mm instead of 2mm. Hard for me to setup multiple strands on the kerosine lamp to compare the wicking, one against the other..
As to your coil, drop in flavor/vapor production if it is not a false electrical connection (ck ohms), it is usually dirty wick. Juices with a lot of sugar can quickly caramelize inside the wick (especially at high temp from low ohms).

I totally agree, this is the big reason I switched from cotton to bamboo...I ran identical devices and coils, one with baton, one with cheese cloth and one with bamboo, all with the same juice (TPA juicey peach) as a life span test. The baton was the first to become unvapable, then the cheese cloth then waaay down the road, the Aunt Lydia's...I chalked it up to heat resistance/transfer. My theory (as BJ noted) is the cotton is pretty susceptible to heat transfer, the sugars in the core of the wick cook and clog further wicking, sure, the material of all 3 wicks in contact with the coil caramelized but it's still porous, as long as the inner wick can still pass juice you're good to go...just my (or more like BJ's) theory of course.
