I have received my large sample of hemp fiber from th generous BSD. Its structure is an interesting cross between cotton and rayon. Possibly bringing the qualities of both together one thing that I noticed so far in a water test is that it seems to resist soaking in Initially. If my current viva core /rayon wick wasn't working so good I would take it out right away and try the hemp. Gonna wait another day probably.

I noticed that as well. But once liquid displaces the air in the fibers, it seems to change its state, it becomes a wicking machine.

Ok, I am on my third tank on the Kayfun with the R41 coil. Luv it...
Question to Mike and anyone else using R41. Did you notice how clean the flavor is with these coils? Just realized Kanthal has a flavor.
I see a future when coils will be permanent, replaced maybe every year if they pop which I doubt. We will have manufactured filler wick plugs that we replace weekly or when needed. Open the unit, remove the used hemp plug, dry burn and clean the coil, pop in a new hemp plug, fill with juice and you are good for another week.
So Bap, semi permanent coil, pop in filler plugs...:D

Picked up my Tibs hemp today and got it boiling as I type but just looking and thinking about my progress...CE4 starter and rebuilt with silica..bought miles of silica, then found ekowool..co-op after co-op of different sizes of wool for my protank heads, great vape quality compared to silica. Rewicked my first protank with a qtip swab and discovered cotton..awesome vape compared to ekowool, now have huge bag of cotton balls and a 1 lb roll of cotton baton. Got hemp fiber boiling upstairs from what i've read so far its going to be spectacular. Just reminiscing on my upward climb of vape quality and what to do with all this wicking material I have stockpiled and just might never use again or whats going to be the next step in wicking material.
I gave up feeling sorry for those who always have burn't taste and bad attys but DIY and I've not had a bad vape in months, my vape quality just keeps on getting better.
Thumbs up to those who have taken the time and helped my wife and I have the best possible vape experience with their experience.

that's funny, every time I try rene wire I get a metallic tasting sensation, doesn't agree with me for some reason

really liking this hemp wicking, the hemp seems to like being a bit denser in the coils than cotton and this helps feed long coils really well, did this dual build in my kayfun and it's wicking and vaping amazing ever since, cotton would have troubles and burn easily in the center but hemp is wicking like a champ, even with 50+ wraps here it's proving an amazing vape. cotton would not be able to keep up with this

Yep it is clean, but I really want to try the R41 on an AO wick. Would probably have to use the PetarK method though as I would be afraid to wrap it straight on the wick.

Edit: BUT...... I saved a coil since it is so robust, and then reused it again, upon reusing it I got a strong metallic taste. I wonder if it oxidized sitting in open air????

Nice build turbo I also wonder the ohms and how much power it's taking.

I dipped into my hemp. It looks really clean out of the box so I took some straight up and wicked my vertical oddy. It's working great. It does have a pretty strong hemp taste to it, and even though I love hemp.... I did end up boiling it with some peroxide. Dried over night and fluffed it with a fork. The hemp taste from the unwashed outa the box is starting to diminish as I get through this tank, but it definitely needs some processing.

I have no issues with it wicking. It seems to be replacing my viva & rayon pretty good. And I'm going to enjoy the higher resistance to heat for those time when I run my tank completely dry. ;)
