Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary BJ
Thanks for all of your contributions to the forum. I personally have learned a lot from you.
Just wanted to thank you guys for figuring this hemp out.. The taste.. well, the best and then some.
Is anyone rewicking Evods or AspireBDC's with hemp? I always end up back with my provari, but the evods taste dry most of the time I always start dripping when I get home.
Happy turkey/food coma day!!!!
I have all three TGT's going with three different coil diameters 1.7mm/2mm/2.3mm. So far it seems a full 12 strand thread is to much for the 1.7mm coil, removing 4 strands will be my next test with that size coil. A full 12 strand thread seems about right for a 2mm coil, removing or adding a couple strands to dial it in. 18 strands seems to be perfect for the 2.3mm coil, I just combed out a couple lengths of the thread and added the extra strands and then loosely rolled back into a 18 strand thread.
Really digging this Taifun clone!
After changing the coil orientation yesterday I am very pleased. This is a very versatile setup. If I vape it at 13w it hits hard like a VNH coil on an R91, if I vape it at 11w it hits like a hard hitting high end genny, if I vape it at 9w it hits nice and mellow.
Here is where I landed:
- Cut the AO short so that there is about a 1.5mm gap between the ends of the wick and the chamber walls.
- I used my chopped and saturated hemp rather than the uncut long dry fibers. I found that it molded easily
- Filled that 1.5mm gap with hemp, and then looped the hemp over any exposed AO beyond the width of the coil.
- Packed the hemp even with the outside of the juice channel walls.
I am using the hemp just as a juice conduit, but actually vaporizing the juice off of pure AO. The flavor is clean, like we are used to with AO. The issue I had yesterday was just a new batch of juice where the juice itself was weak. I put the last of my Worcestershire juice in this build and it lived up to expectations.
The only downside is that there is a very slight lag because of the AO. Not bad, just hit button when I pick up the Mod and by the time it reaches my lips it is good to go.
Notice how far the coil is above the airhole when I attached the leads from the BOTTOM of the coil to the terminals.

Note: the black look at the deck is just the lighting.

Same concept but with a Fogger:

The hemp makes a wonderful "juice conduit" and reserve. The same great flavor that we expect from AO.
In the interest of full disclosure, I had already widened the 2 wick channels to 3mm in an attempt to use an AO wick going all the way through the walls. That failed, I started seeing animals coming two by two it flooded so bad. Anyway, the point being that the wick channels where wider than stock.
