I got my first e-cig yesterday. I got a Blu starter kit (but bought some blank carts and a couple bottles of liquid, I haven't gotten them yet but I also got a differnt atty and liquid that I ordered from DIY (I've heard really good things and I'm excited))

Soo after trying one of the carts that came with Blu just to see if they were as bad as everyone said and finding they lived up to the hype for all the wrong reasons, I put the vanilla liquid I ordered in a blank and tried that. It was was pretty bad and I was nervous to even try the tobbacco flavored liquid I ordered.

I eventually did try it and I'm glad I did, while I did notice the tobbacco-y flavor it actually tasted more like caramel than anything else oddly enough.

Anyway I have a habit of running off at the fingertips and I digress.. So today when I pulled my ecig out, when I went to take a drag off it I noticed a bit of the liquid had leaked out and got on my lips. I cleaned it up, but a few hours later it happened again when I picked it up after leaving it setting for a while. I noticed my lips were kinda tingly afterwards but didn't think much of it.

So A) Is that normal? B) Is that okay/safe?

Last week I put a bottle of 18mg liquid in my pocket. Apparently the lid wasn't on tight, because it ended up leaking all over my leg. I got kind of a head rush, broke into a bit of a sweat, and it felt like my blood pressure had gone up. About 15 - 20 minutes later, I was fine. Probably wasted half a cart of liquid. So a little on the lips is really no big deal. Chances are you will become annoyed that you are wasting liquid enough to be more careful long before you ingest enough to harm you.

the carts could be over filled, you want there to be just a tiny puddle of liquid on the cart filler when u squeeze it between your fingers, but not after you let go. if the puddle remains after you let go just get a small piece of paper towel or a cotton swab and drain it away. as for the liquid being safe, the mg strength is really the determining factor in that, as 60mg/ml is generally regarded as dangerous and up around 80-90 is seen as toxic. one or two drops won't hurt anything, but u r better off not swallowing the liquid in any case. most newbies usually start between 12 and 18 mg/ml depending on your supplies as i don't believe any responsible supplier offers "ready-to-vape" liquids above 48mg/ml. if u r below that level, even swallowing a few drops won't really hurt u. soap and warm water is all u need to wash away the nic.

At vaping strengths there really isn't all that much of a problem. I've had more leaky cartos than I care to count. I would suggest that you invest in a really good lip balm though. Vaping dries out my lips anyway, and the occasional leak can sometimes make things worse. Keeping your lips coated in moisturizer will help.

Okay, so a liquid won't hurt, got it. But is it normal that it happened again when I picked it up after a few hours, even though I didn't add any more liquid? Basically I'm wondering if I put in my carrier the 'wrong way' or the carrier being tossed around in my purse as I went about my day had something to do with it, and SHOULD that even be an issue?

Not sure about the Blu Virginia, but it's certainly not uncommon for the 808 carts. I have some that will do it no matter how wet or dry they are, some that won't do it at all, and some that only do it if I mess up and put too much juice in them... always a possibility since I'm greedy. :D

Someone else will have to come along and tell you if there is a way to tell whether or not you've overfilled with a blu.

The tingle is from the nicotine - just like what you get from nicotine gum.

You may be over-filling the carts slightly. You'll get the hang of exactly how much they hold in time. You may also want to try taking slightly easier drags.

It's fine. You can absorb nicotine through your skin, but as an adult-sized smoker, your tolerance is quite high. You could spill a bottle all over yourself of average strength e-liquids and be fine.

But kids and pets will not be fine. The strength that is perfect to vape for you is possibly highly dangerous to them. So please be very sure you keep it out of their reach, and wipe down any surfaces they may be able to contact that have gotten e-liquid on them. Oh - and WASH YOUR HANDS!

I make my own juice. I use 60mg and 100mg to cut down from. Helps keep things cheap. But it can also be very dangerous if mishandled, especially the 100mg. I wear gloves when I handle it, and keep my 100mg in a separate box. I have had caps open on my bottles before, and spill. Spilling 100mg would literally be a biochemical hazard. This way, if it spills... at least it's all in one place, and I don't have to clean it up.

I'm still grasping how much I can and don't have to add in juice wise to my 510. I get leaks occasionally and I just take a baby wipe or washcloth and wipe it away and so forth. Sometimes I get juice in my mouth, on my lips, ect. But I haven't gotten sick, or anything horrid. Maybe a little light headed and that's my own fault really lol. I chain vape so ya lol. but anyways, you should be fine. And if you feel that you are getting an ill effect, try not so much liquid and wear some gloves if need be when filling ect.

2nd on keeping juice off of surfaces within reach of pets and kids. As a precaution, I wash my hands after vaping or filling carts...even if I don't spill.

Welcome Virginia Kay.
I just got my e-cig yesterday too.
I had the same experience with my tobacco flavors.
They taste a lot like caramel with a hint of apricot or peach, which is what makes this tranisition period more easier. I wonder if this is common among novice vapers trying the tobacco flavors.

The blu cigs were the first ones my husband and I ordered... the liquid leaked out all the time and was always getting on the cart and on our lips... more annoying then anything... we had a few other issues with the blu cigs, so we sent them back and switched to the tornado from totally wicked and havent had any probs.. but i dont think getting the liquid on u in small amounts is really dangerous

Hmm that's good to know about Blu. I debated for a while on whether to go with Blu or the Joye 510 but opted with Blu because of the hands-free aspect of the auto batteries and I thought their starter kit seemed more put together.. although I ended up buying a couple replacement attys and blank carts from Volcano after ordering it. :glare:

At any rate I'll probably get the 510 sometime in the future to add to my collection, possibly after the holidays or something. Thanks for the info everyone! :D
