So far so good with the Vamo and the kayfun. I picked up 2 Sony VTC5 18650 2600mah yesterday, and damn these things take forever to charge. I actually pulled them off about 45min ago and checked them with a volt meter, they are charging, but very slowly...which I guess is actually a good thing, the slower the charge the better.

I had to stick a small piece of brass in the air hole on my kayfun though, It was making a terribly annoying whistle sound. The good news is I dropped from 12mg to 8mg now! and to be honest the kayfun makes such a thick warm vape that even 8mg is starting to bother me already. Well on my way to omg, considering I was at 24mg only 3 weeks ago im really happy.

Well, it's what we're here for. All of us started knowing nothing about vaping, other than maybe the hard sell at a B&M :)

Like any new endeavor, there's a learning curve, and those of us who've struggled through - and gotten good help here - are happy to help others over that hump and stay non-smokers :)

Wow you got that right on. When I started in 2009 they didn't have the great stuff thats around now. I usually ended up with more juice on me than in me. The equipment has come a long way, I'm glad I stuck it out and I am still learning. Thought I had the best there was with carto tanks then I tried a Kayfun. Anybody remember the teabag atomizer thing. I tried that and the filter for fish tanks. Plus if you are a person who doesn't like having to mess around with stuff they have great things like cartotanks, Nautilus, Kanger aerotanks. You can really get a good vape now. You used to once in a while then it wouldn't work the next time.

Not to mention when they came out with the Provari. I couldn't wait and got one of their Provape 1's which by the way is a great little mechanical still. Lifetime warranty. The first Provari's had their bugs but they got them worked out. As soon as they were available I ordered had to wait 5 weeks. Then had to send it back to have it upgraded, one of their flaws too low of an amperage limit. I have a Vamo also but it is the version 1. The threads aren't the greatest but I use a little cheapo tank air controller and it still work fine. I've had it over a year. I still take a cartotank to bed. The cartos have gotten so much better. I used to be lucky to get 3 out of 5 that worked properly.

I've never owned a vamo, but have several kfls- they are great! Get yourself some 28g kanthal and a bag of organic cotton. Watch some YouTube vids on how to set up the kfl; there are plenty of them available. Get a decent torch/lighter some tweezers, nail clipper and small needle nose and start practicing wrapping coils. You're gonna be so excited when the vapemail arrives that you're gonna wanna set up and try it.

I havent orderd any kanthal yet because I'm not sure what the best coil to do in this is. My Vamo cannot go below 1.2Ohm, so what would be the best coil to make to put in this thing?

To start just a simple 28g micro coil.
A lot of people use drill bits to wrap- I have to be different and macguyver stuff. I took a wire cost hanger and cut 6-8 inch piece of and use that as my guide. The cost hangers are 2mm diameter and that seems to work perfect for me. Figure 8-10 wraps gets me 1.4-1.5 ohm. So 7 wraps would be a gold place for you to start experimenting I think.
No matter what though you'll need the kanthal. They say they come with a kit of sorts but usually it's just enough to wrap one coil. And first try's don't always go perfectly; so you may want to order a few feet or get some from a local
Shop. You may even want to take it to the shop for its first build. The cats at the b&ms are usually pretty good at helping out a first timer on builds. One here even does coil building tutorials.
At minimum get yoursf some wire and start watching some you tube

I actually have a 1.5ohm coil in here made with 28awg kanthal that a local shop hooked me up with, and they even taught me how to make them. I guess im wondering now, is this the "best" coil I can do? I see people on youtube doing some crazy coils, but there all on mechs. Im trying to figure out what the best coil I can do is on a Vamo?

I don't know what the limits are on a vamo; but most regulated mods have limits set whee they won't fire below certain resistances. 1.5 is generally a good one to use though. The sweet spot on both my regulated mods is 1.4. They both seem to give me the best performance there; so, I would speculate that 1.5 would be good.
A lot of cats with the mech mods like the lowers Rt possible because it maximizes power output. On a mech you're gonna get whatever the battery is as output. On a regulated you are going to get whatever you have set as your output (in theory some do a better job than others) both have their pluses and minuses this is the point of a lot of debate and and tension between some of the people that feel they know is best and how dare you disagree crowds on both sides. I tend to think both have there place and prefer regulated for all day and once I'm a while break out my mech.
It's really a trial and error thing till you find what you enjoy most, which is the fun part for me.
My favorite is a good regulated mod, and a kayfun with a 1.4-1.6 coil set at 3.5 volts- nothing but pure flavor right there.

After 4 or 5 coils you will have it down. I use a screwdriver from a precision Jevelers screwdriver set. There is usually a 2mm and a 2.4mm in there. There is a video on YouTube about wrapping a coil with a jeweler screwdriver( outdated - Micro Coils 101 - Part One - Making The Tightest Coil You've Ever Made). This is what it is called and it works really well. Getting the cotton right is another trick too much or too little you end up with a flooded KF or a burnt cotton. Once you get it right best vape you will ever get IMO. I have 2 and want another. I have the real one not a clone and have never had a problem with either one that wasn't my own fault. Learning to build the coil and I use cellucotton, easier to work with also IMO. I use my KFL on my Provari's makes them even better then the Vamo also IMO the signal output on the Vamo works fine but the Provari will even make them better. Also I use 28 gauge Kanthal about 8 wraps works great should be between 1.4 and 1.6
