Was going to order one, might wait on that now. Thanks

It is still a one of a kind device. How many other tube mods can reach 50 watts and function down to .3 ohms regulated (and, I believe, lower unregulated in mech mode). How many are supposed to reach 100 watts in the near future? No, it is not perfect, but there are no perfect mods on the market.

I've been bugging my Smoktech rep who is in China about the display and at least allowing it to stay on a few seconds after vaping. So far he insists that nothing can be done but I'm not giving up.

At one point he said the that you really don't need the screen as you can always use the app. I asked him about vaping in a car in locations that do not allow cell phone use. His response was to use the buttons on the mod so I gave him an example of what I would have to do:

So you suggest I do the following to read the ohms, output, and battery:

While driving push the button 3 times
Push the button three more times to get to i
Push the button then select battery
Fire the mod to read the battery.

Next I want to see ohms so while driving:
Push the button 3 times
Push the button three more times to get to i
Push the button then select ohms
Fire the mod to read the ohms.

Next I want to see temp so while driving:
Push the button 3 times
Push the button three more times to get to i
Push the button then select temp
Fire the mod to read the temp.

If I did all that while driving I would crash. If you just placed that information on the display like every other mod in the world, I could just look at the display without having to push any button. After vaping I could just look at the screen and see everything.

I appreciate the info put forth so far on this mod. This thing has been on my radar for a few weeks. Sort of glad I didn't pre-order. While it certainly doesn't sound like a bust, it obviously has room for refinement. I believe I'll wait to see how/if/when Smoktech shakes out the "bugs". I'm still enamored with the aesthetics and the BT app connectivity but I think I'll wait to see if it matures.

Again, thanks to the owners who have shared their experiences.

Can you bug him to make the app compatible with earlier versions of Android or even Windows? I e-mailed Smok about this but they did not respond.

I do not regret my purchase. After a rough start (a coil came "unglued" from its post on my Kaiser RTA somehow when moving it from my Sigelei 20W to the BEC and I could not figure out why it wasn't firing), it's definitely growing on me. The display works, but yes, it could use some refinement. Looking at everything else that's out there and knowing what I know now about it, I would buy it again. I spent more on my Sigelei 20W a few months ago, and except for the display, the BEC is definitely a better unit (so far).

The perfect PV does not exist.

Got an answer back for your questions. I doubt Smok will ever answer you because they seem not willing to push their product.

Hello.

Many thanks for your feedback!

I just talked to our engineers, please see below for details:

1. Can you make it work with earlier versions of Android? Not everyone has the latest version.

Sorry, it just works on Andriod 4.3+ and IOS 6.0+

2. Do you have plans to release a version for Windows Phone?

Please kindly understand we are a e cigarette manufacturer, not a software engineering company,

so far, we have no plan on designing a Windows Phone version.

3. What about a version of the app for use on a Windows laptop computer since laptops mostly have bluetooth?

Sorry but it's not avaialble so far, but our engineers will consider it.

Any other questions, please feel free to let us know!

Thank you!

Thanks.

I've noticed a bit of cloudiness in the display last night. I don't know if it's from juice (I am not careful in regards to preventing juice leaks), an imperfection in the plastic, or just the nature of the beast.

Edit: You can only see the cloudiness in very dim lighting with the unit activated.

Any additional input, good or bad ,from BEC owners? I've got $300 burning a hole in my pocket and am entertaining using $100 of that for a BEC.

I've had mine for a few days. I really like it. Feels solid, has nice features, very capable and it looks nice. I have a Plume Veil clone on it and it looks slick. What sold me is that it's upgradeable, so if there are any problems (like no temp regulation), they can potentially be fixed with an upgrade. Only time will tell with this device. I think it's worth the $100ish dollars. I don't chain vape it, and only push the button for about 2 seconds at a time, so I haven't had any problems with over-heating. So far so good.IMG_20140927_133830481.jpg

Did anyone see Phil's review on it? He got the temp of the device over 200 degrees! Holy crap you think it would have a safety cutoff!

Yes I watched. Phil obviously is living in another world at times. He didn't read the instructions as he would have known it is only three presses to get to the menu. His thumbs down rating is totally off base. Did you see how many times he had to fire the mod for the full 13 second cutoff before it really got hot? Not too many people would be taking 13 second hits without pausing and taking another and another back to back. No one could possible do that. In real use I have never seen it go above 100 degrees. Mine usually is in the 80s.

Now if a chip set (like the DNA 30) didn't have reverse battery protection and would self destruct and smoke if it happened that would be a thumbs down. Yet Phil's review of the DNA 30 chip is an overwhelming thumbs up.

There are many devices and mods if abused could be dangerous. Just like my car if I drove it 120 MPH on back country curvy roads I could possibly get hurt. I just don't think anyone would do what Phil did. "Hey look, my temperature is 195 and the mod is too hot to hold! I think I'll have another drag on it."
