I just read the thread - "If the REO is your first mod (what you will need)" - and so far I ordered three AW IMR 14500 batteries and a charger. Now I guess I just need an atomizer

"Preference for attys and cartos tends to depend on the type of juice you vape."

Most of the juices I got so far are from BWB which I believe is 20 or 30% VG, and from Halo. So how would this help me pick what kind of atomizer I want? I've never used an atomizer before..

I briefly skimmed through the thread "See What atomizers do you like on the REO" and it seems like the ideal choice so far is LR or Low Resistance(?) atomizers. Cisco seems like the most mentioned brand so far.

"satisfying as a LR (1.5-2.0 ohm) atty or carto"

I'm at the avidvaper.com website and I see Cisco 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 ohms.

My Questions
1) What's the difference between the 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 ohm atomizers? Which one is good for the juices that I use?

2) What's the difference between the models (510, 306, 901, 801) other than the shapes from what I can tell?

3) How many atomizers should I initially purchase?

4) Do I have everything I need now to get started? (REO Mini, Battery, Charger + atomizer)

5) Do I need a drip tip? Can someone explain to me the difference between using one or not? Kinda confused if I need one

Thanks everyone.

EDIT:
6) I just read right now the different model atomizers have differenta battery threading.. do all these fit straight into the REO Mini? Or do I have to buy some sort of adapter?

Here's ones I can answer:

2) What's the difference between the models (510, 306, 901, 801) other than the shapes from what I can tell?
Different throat hit, vapor production and flavor. Everyone has their preferred atty. I use 510s myself, but have just ordered a couple of 306s from Cisco to try
3) How many atomizers should I initially purchase?
I always have a few (about 5) spare. I do live on the other side of the world, so if my attys die on me it's a long wait for a replacement to arrive. I would recommend two backups to start off with. You don't want to be left without a working atomizer :)
4) Do I have everything I need now to get started? (REO Mini, Battery, Charger + atomizer)
Throw in your preferred juice and you're good to go :)
5) Do I need a drip tip? Can someone explain to me the difference between using one or not? Kinda confused if I need one
Because the Reo is a bottom fed mod, drip tips aren't necessary. In saying that I'm so used to them, I can't see myself using anything else :)

Thanks everyone.

I've never used LR attys with different ohms, so I can't comment on that, but from my understanding, the lower the ohms, the warmer the vape.

No probs ... happy to help where I can :)

1) What's the difference between the 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 ohm atomizers? Which one is good for the juices that I use?
Found this post which explains the different LR attys. I'm using a Chinese LR 510 (just measured at 1.5 ohms) atty with Halo e-liquids, and they're great. Clouds of vapor and just the right amount of throat hit for me.
6) I just read right now the different model atomizers have differenta battery threading.. do all these fit straight into the REO Mini? Or do I have to buy some sort of adapter?
The Reo has the 510/306 (same threads) threading. 801s and 901s have different threads. I think the Reo comes with adaptors for these threads. Someone can confirm this.

For a REO Mini .... To keep it simple for starting out I would say:

Cisco 510 in either 1.5 or 1.8 ohms from Avid.

Or better yet 2 of each :)

There is no way of knowing what you will like best till you try them all.
The 510 is by far the most tolerant for newbs IMO .... Its still my favorite and I've been using a REO for 8 months.

And YES you wan't a drip tip :)

You said you've never used an atty before so remember the 10/10 rule

New atty, screw on REO .... add 10 drops of e-juice and wait 10 min before you vape on it.
If you don't do that you can burn the wick on the first hit :(

Good luck.

your going to need drip tips on the attys.... 510 and 306 attys work fine, but the drip tips will be different for each (altho there is an adaptor which will let you use a 510 dt on a 306 atty)
The lower res attys will also drain the battery faster I believe.
I prefer a cooler vape, so a standard 510 works fine for me...I have been using a 306 2.0 lately, however. It's a little warmer but not bad.
Congrats on getting the reo...hope you love it.

ah, 2nd time i heard the 510 is the most newb tolerant so I guess i'm going with that.. I hear alot about the 306 so what i'm gonna get is 2x510 and 2x306. I'm thinking of going 1.8ohm as a happy medium between the 1.5 and 2.0ohm.

thanks again everyone. i hope i love it too.. been kinda frustrated with my last one.. so this is my last chance at the whole e-cig thing >.< I have a high expectation for this hopefully it doesn't let me down lol....

Personally, I think the Cisco 2ohm 510 is the best all-around atomizer, and one of the easiest to get along with. I keep that on my Woodvil. I keep a Cisco 1.5ohm 306 on my Minis for heat and throat hit, but I wouldn't recommend that to start because the 306 is finicky, and it's expensive to burn through a bunch of them while you are getting the hang of using attys.

do you find the 2.0 vapor it produces "cold" at all? kinda confusing because i read LR is supposed to make the vapor warmer, but i heard a couple times already from research that the 2.0 is cold o_O

If you are having trouble getting the hang of atomizers don't forget you can use a LR Cartomizer too :)

Those are foolproof IMO :)

i hate cartomizers right now =( had a bad experience with them.. half the reason I went with this mod because I have a choice about not dealing with that crap ;D

Understandable, but most of that was probably due to variables that are eliminated by the REO.

just throwing it out there. I use both attys and cartos and either one can be flawless on a REO with a bit of experience under your belt.

Boge LR cartos. They always meter at 2.0 Ω for me.

I know you asked BH, but this is what he's gonna tell you. :p

Abso-freakin-lutely .... !!

Hands down, the Boge 2Ω carto is a masterpiece.
Mine usually work out to just under a buck fifty each with shipping and its amazing how well they work for that price.

To be honest with you, I do jump back and forth between attys and cartos often ..... but.....
other than the 901 atty I'm trying its been a couple of week since I've had an atty on any of my 4 REOs :)

The cartos work great and are really foolproof. No cleaning attys .... Yay.
For 1.50 I just use them till I'm not happy anymore and chuck it.
I don't care if its 2 days or 2 weeks .... Yes I've done both.

I kind of think of a break down like this:

1-3 hours - atty tastes better than carto
3hrs - 24 hours - atty and carto taste and perform about the same
1 day - 3 days - carto still tasting/performing great and atty would be in the "to be cleaned" pile :)
3 days and over .... nothing to compare because I can't make an atty work for three days.

If you are new at using a 306 atty, I can highly recommend getting a clear Cannon drip tip from Cherry Vapes. Because you can see the liquid, it makes it easy for you to figure out when to squeeze the bottle to get more juice in your atty.

As much as I like the idea of cartomizers, I just don't have very good luck with them.
