Yeah dice I'm not sure how you get ramie to work on the vcoils. It baffles me bro. I definately haven't figured it out yet.

Processing/ cutting/ blending it I think would make it easier for me to work with. I've tried something that looks like it will work good. To make it more cotton like, cut into 4- 1/4" pieces 4- 1/2"pieces 1 - 3/4" piece if you want, but I think I'm going to leave that out next time. then mix in pot for quite a while till it boils. Drain while bringin together to make a compacted ramie fiber. Dry it, and it becomes more workable almost like a cotton consistency. If anyone has trouble with the stiffness they could try this.

Dice says straight ramie is best for wicking, so that is something to consider

are there any posts with photos of your inverted v on the rose around online?

Yes have some
click on blue arrows above
there.

Also, for verts, I shape the ramie like ribbon, or a thick flat shoe string, so that it's width covers the entire length of the coil, kind of like wrapping it with a neck scarf. Works great for me on all my Vertical Builds.

thank you. Was hoping to see the wicking part, but alas, it was not meant to be.

Sorry about that, but scheduling photo opps often has time restraints. lol. Will make time on next build.

I run a thin strip between the coils then wrap the tails 360 degrees around the coils first then mount the coil. Once tightened down, I then straighten the ramie and place it in the aligned juice port. Once all fibers straight and aligned, I peel back half the wick to lay down along the bottom of the juice deck then out the opposing juice port. Repeat on the other side, screw funnel/drip tip down tight and trim the fibers. assemble and fill. Haven't messed with it since, but getting time to re-wick.

My complete lack of imagination let me down pretty much once I hit "360" hahahahah.

Can't wait for you to post a picture guide

This vegetable fiber comes from the plant known as “china grass” or Rhea, technically Boehmeria nivea. The plant grows in China and the Far East. Ramie fibers come from the inner portions of the plants bark. In processing, the fibers are degummed, bleached and combed. Ramie fibers are the strongest of all vegetable fibers. They are typically spun for weaving table linens because they lack elasticity. (...)

Hi all, back from the dead in this nice new thread :)

After 1+ yr "on hemp" (so to speak) exclusively I'd like to try the ramie fiber, but can't find the degummed variety in reasonable quantities.

All the pictures of ramie I see (on sellers' websites) show apparently identical nice white fluffy combed fibers, thus I'm wondering if ALL of the ramie fiber you can find around is degummed, after all...

If not, is there really a difference between degummed and not degummed ramie, for vaping, and in case what?

Thanks

Ramie love. I trimmed it down after the photo to fit it into the prometey clone, and swapped the 30 gauge to 28 in the second photo. Vapes well, but as you say, will need a tank full to settle in.

OK, so I've eventually pulled the trigger :)

Having read in a former post of yours that the ramie from the Woolery was fine, bought it from them.

Got quite a lot of it (8oz, approx 250gr for the metrically minded), hope to find it as good as hemp, or better.

Now it's just waiting for the next month or so, until it eventually arrives here in southern euroland... Hoping the customs gods to be benevolent, this time. Will let you know.

Very good question. The Ramie I received appears to be degummed, and the definition of "Ramie Fiber" appears to be that of being degummed. So thinking, if it hasn't been degummed, well then it isn't Ramie.

Quoted myself for timestamp purposes.

After I placed my order with The Woolery on Tuesday last week, I subsequently received an e-mail informing me they were out of stock; they expected to receive more by the end of last week or sometime this week.

My order is still "pending"; not surprisingly though, for I've completed it on a sunday :)

Thus basically I have no clues yet as to whether they do have ramie on stock, or not... I could add it to the shopping cart, and even pay for it when completing the order... but that may easiliy mean zip, from past experience. Well, tomorrow we'll see.

you can always order from canada worse case scenario. I drilled out my prometey clone today, and now she's really blasting the hot vape. I've been waiting almost two weeks for my rose v2 to arrive. Luckily just today after a 9 days of no movement on the usps tracking , USPS finally said it was in montreal (the city in canada I live in) . Thank God, I was starting to get worried. One thing is for sure, there is no way the silica I previously had in my prometey could have taken the lower ohms and wider air hole.
