At $4.00 a cartridge, which is supposedly equivalent to a pack of cigs, it's perilously close to the cost of smoking. Tax it like a tobacco product and it will be more expensive.

But I can indeed see how it might appeal to someone just getting started, or as a backup or stealth device. Like I said, it's probably the most *effective* teeny/tiny device available.

I saw a video on youtube where you can take the cartridge apart and refill it. I've been thinking about the Juul for one of my sisters who doesn't like ANY of my devises (and I have LOTS of different setups).

Well, here's there refilling video:

I still don't think it makes much sense. Someone in the big Juul thread we had a while back was refilling them and noted that there was a limit to how often it could be done. Having taken the pods apart just once (to get the juice to evaluate in a different device), I concur; they're just not designed to be repeatedly disassembled and reassembled.

I work in Las Vegas and this weekend a new e-cig developer was handing out these https://www.juulvapor.com/

It looks like a USB thumb drive and is $50. You have to buy their pods at $16 for a 4 pack. each pod, according to them, lasts about 200 puffs, roughly the same as 1 pack of cigarettes. I find this somewhat expensive, even for the cig-a-like vapors.

The reason I mention this is because I question if companies see this as viable product. I wonder if they see or know something about the future of vaping. In the casino biz I see a lot of vapors across a wide spectrum. Young, old, in between, and I go as far as say that about 90% of them use some sort of mod or ego battery and a wide variety toppers. I see very little cig-a-likes. So I wonder, is there really a market for this, or will there be?

The market for cigalikes is the existing smokers who have not yet made the switch to vape.

Cigs aren't cheap everywhere like they are in the south. Up here, you can expect to pay anywhere from 8 to 12 dollars for a pack of smokes depending on brand.

Yep, and I think one of the things that prevents a successful transition for many is the relatively slow way that then nic hits you when you vape conventional starter gear, which is what Juul is attempting to address with their very high, pH-lowered nic. It does work (to a degree).

I suspect an equally effective alternative is direct-lung hits from a high-powered device, but of course that's not going to be this small.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way back when I spent the better part of two weeks travelling across Canada back in '06. Since I was travelling by motorcycle, storage space was at a premium, so I only brought 3 packs with me, thinking I'd just buy more as I went along. Big mistake! First, I couldn't find my brand (Merits at the time) anywhere, and second, the DuMauriers that were recommended as "similar" were ~$9 a pack. I was used to paying under $4.00 then. Gasoline was also way more expensive.

@Hunter400 I have one. In fact, my car just straight up has. Usb port in it. The placement of the cigarette lighter means the juul hits the underside of my center console, leans at a slight angle, and doesn't charge. The usb port in my car has a rubber flap to protect it, which pushes against the juul, causing it to again lean at an angle and not charge. Basically nothing can touch it while it charges, or doesn't make a good connection.

I started the Juul in September. Within a week, I was OFF of my analogs!!! I was a two pack per day smoker for 30 years! This was a miracle for me! Since that time, I've bought the Ego system and a couple of other ECigs. I keep going back to my Juul!!! It's a cig-a-like to the fullest extent! I love the size, the weight, and the throat hit (if that's the right term) is perfect for me! The battery lasts almost all day and it charges fully within an hour!!! It's the only one I have found that is most like a cigarette. Also, with other juices, I end up, sometimes, having trouble breathing. With the Juul, I have not experienced this.
The only draw back, I have found, is the cost. Because I am such a frequent puffer, I go through 2 pods a day. This is NOT cost effective for me. At the same time, I figure it must still be safer than smoking analogs. So I will be staying with the Juul!

I like the Juul, I'd tried several mini & mid size products but just couldn't find one that really nixed my cravings. I was smoking about half a pack of American Spirits a day, so not that heavy a smoker but just couldn't quite drop the analogs. I think it's definitely good for people still using analogs, but I can see how once you've been off them for a bit it would be less appealing, especially if you use lower nicotine concentrations. The high nicotine concentration & using nicotinic salts instead of freebase nicotine (like most fluids) is (I think) really aimed helping people transition, as it more closely replicates the nicotine plasma concentrations one gets from an analog cigarette. Also, i'd say it's the first device i've tried that is superior to a cigarette in most ways.

The vapor did take a couple days to acclimate to, and now it seems quite smooth to me actually. The charger is a bit finicky at times, though I have found a car lighter to usb adapter that allows me to charge the Juul in my car, however I sometimes knock it off the charger when shifting into or out of park. The pods are also a bit pricey, but you can get them cheaper with the autoship program. All this being said, I'm working on getting a box mod & pipe mech mod set up for both home use & to gradually decrease my nicotine consumption. I'll probably still carry my juul to work or when i go out though as it's just so convenient.

The only recurrent issue I have with it is getting juice in my mouth when putting in a new pod. Given the concentration it's not a very pleasant experience, ha. & it seems to happen most with the bruule flavor, though i've gone through far more of those than any of the other flavors. Anyone else have that issue?

I love the juul. It does make me cough alot at times, but it seems to depend on the pod. It is hard for me to vape 1st thing in the morning, but I do adjust to it as the day goes on. What I love about it is..I can actually put it down. When I use my eroll, it never leaves my mouth..but the juul..7-10 puffs and I put it down. It is expensive when it comes to the pods, but I am hoping in time they will run some specials or something. Right now, I can't get it near me ( Panama city,fl) but I see circle k's and Murphy oil is getting them in some parts of Florida and geogia..so hoping I can get it locally soon.
