Thanks Supply Daddy, I'm aware of what a mech mod is. As you can see by the previous posts, I am talking about the "2cent fuse". Some vendors sell the K100 with, most without, which is why I asked my question. Appreciate the reply.

I guess Kamry made some fuses and some vendors sell the K101 with the fuse. The K101 is the new version. I haven't seen any vendors selling them with the fuse but I haven't looked too much either. I've never seen the K100 being sold with a fuse. The fuse is good to have if you are going to be running a higher ohm coil like 1.5-2.0 ohm or something and are going to be using SS mesh for the wick. I run ceramic wicks and don't see the point in using one as there isn't really anything to short. Most of them have I think a 5 amp limit and that is why with lower ohm coils you don't really want to run one because it will probably trip because with the lower ohms it will be pulling more amps from the battery.

I know the Short Stop is 5 amps. Here is some info from the PDF link below the quote. I actually got mine from myvaporstore for ~$8 or so.

ShortStop is not designed to operate above 12 volts DC, it can be used with single or multi cell applications. ShortStop will begin current limiting around 5 Amperes. ShortStop will become warm after limiting current, this is normal. Please allow it to cool for at least two minutes. When ShortStop is actively limiting current, your device may not function, this is normal. After ShortStop cools it should
function normally again.

Here is the instruction sheet too:

Just got one a few days ago. The battery spring is so strong that it makes for painful battery changes.

I ended up pulling the battery spring out (along with the white plastic insulator) and replacing with a thick hard rubber washer. Now I just tighten it on the battery until it stops. Adjusting the thickness of the washer also allowed me to reduce the throw of the button to about 1mm.

gotta love the k100 + igo-l setup. my setup is dual coil that comes out to 0.3 ohms. what gauge coil do you use, if you dont mind me asking?

Sorry this is a late reply.

I use 30 and 32 gauge wires. I actually use a mini-DID clone on the k100 generally and it sits around 1.3 ohms. (With SS mesh I tend to use ribbon wire, I am not sure about the dimensions but I believe it is equivalent to 30gauge). For igo-l, I switch between regulated and mech but stay in 1.3 - 1.7 range.

Probably you can tell I am not a sub-ohm / stormy cloud kind of vaper :) (7-10 watts is generally where I vape).

Interesting. I might give something like that a try. When I replace a battery I (not for too long but still) struggle with finding the firing location without over-tightening. Since you can have a more solid/fixed spot maybe it even helps with decreasing the wobble of the telescoping tube?

This explains why my China GG wouldn't fire my RSST build (which was just over 1Ohm) until I took my reuseable 2Cents for Safety fuse out. I thought for a while that I had fried the fuse completely. Good thing I didn't toss it!

Even with a freshly charged battery, a 1ohm coil should not yield more than 4 amps, me thinks.

Love my K100. As long as you aren't running super low resistance coils you don't really need a kick. Especially if you're using 2.5 ohm cartos or clearos. I've been running a .8 ohm cyclone and a .7 ohm aga t2 on my mechs with no kick or 2 cent fuse with no issues for the last couple months. Some common sense and a multimeter will go a long way.

Yes. I got it from Fasttech as well. But I would suggest to skip the set and get the device by itself.

$24.60 Empire KeCig K100 Mechanical Rechargeable Electronic Cigarettes - blue / no battery at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

You can get good batteries and a good charger for an additional ~$10 and ~$14 respectively, unless you already have enough.
(Fasttech search sucks, but "18650" and "nitecore" searches should give you good options).

Thanks for some reason that didn't come up in my search.

Now to find a kick .

whitestagvapor has the clones. i've got one from there but i haven't used it yet.
didn't think about the absence of heat shrink wrapping so i'm going to wait until i
can get that done myself. still though, way cheaper than a real Kick....

I'm on day 2 with my K-100 and I dig it a lot

Source- Gotvapes, added 2Cent
Color- champage/brown

-I love how this thing hits.... I dont know if its the fact that its mechanical, or that I have brand new batteries, but it seems to hit a heck of a lot harder than my plastic 2AA box i had before
-It is beautiful- obviously
-i got 2 18500's and 2 18650s, and I find it to be a little big and heavy for me to be carrying around everywhere (way to big in 18650 mode) but since I found that an 18500 easily lasts all day for me (with 1.5 ohm DC to boot!) , I will pick up some 18350's and be golden for any situation
-I really wish i could have gotten a red one maybe in the future tube and beauty ring replacements will be available :)

in short, love it!

Where do you find the clone at? What is it even called?

Right on the front end of their web site, whitestagvapor.com
scroll down and you'll see a pre-order for $20 and one for in-stock ones for $30.
At $20 it's reasonable. For $30 you might as well save up another $15 or so and get
a real Kick by Evolv.

I hope that helps....
