I can't find anything related to my issue so I'm starting this. Sorry if I missed the answer.

i have an Aerotank 2 and started trying to rebuild the dual coils. I've failed on the dual coils so went to just putting in one. I have finally made two good ones, but I have a few issues I need help with..
  1. i cant ant get the chimney back on by hand. I have to tap back on but see lots of people doing it by hand. Is there some trick to that?
  2. my ohms fluctuate from 1.4 to 2.0 to 3's and back to 1.5. I have been using 30 gage kantrel wrapping 7 to 8 times on a 1/16 drill bit and cotton for the wick. One leg of the coil outside the rubber grommet etc. what's up with that?
  3. would like to know a trick to getting the dual coils set up, but that's minor.

I appreciate any advice given. LOVE the cotton so much more than the silica wicks. That's why I'm rebuilding. It's a time consuming process for me. I have been tossing a lot of coils I've built as the don't register on my iTaste vv2.

Thanks.

Same here. I have one of those small bench vices with the half-moons on one side that hold round objects. (Lowes) Use a Evod tank base to screw all my atty's into. Use bent nose small piers to pry off the chimney cap. I-Clear B is a separate cap and chimney. On that one I use a small bushing spacer to press it back together with the vice. Dual coil was a pain. I went to making them a single coil (8 wrap 28g) for 1.5 ohms. Cotton wick and then just fill the top void with another cotton or silica wick. Cut short and close to the cap to keep the gurgle down. Usually doesn't, but if it starts to I just take it out, blow through it and put it back together and works fine.

Thanks for that Strings. I'll have to try it. I tried to do BVC but using cotton from the balls didn't work well. That was my very first attempt and it worked in that it fired but not much draw. I think the flat cotton is designed for that, and I have an Aspire Nautilus Mini which are designed for that style. I don't have an issue buying their replacements though. They are good. The Kangers are horrible. Taste burnt right from the start.

Thanks that's exactly how I put the wick in, and lay one on top. It gurgles a bit but I lung hit or just burn it off
when it starts and that seems to clear it. Guess I'm off to lowes for a vice. :)

Oh...and you ohms flux problem may be from the ground wire not trimmed off enough. When you put the center plug back in with the rubber sleeve, just a slight pressure will squeeze them together causing a short. I flush cut and tuck the ground lead in after trimming the center (hot lead).

I thought that about the wires. I try to keep the hot and ground on opposite sides. It looks so easy, LOL..

Coils I put in a vice and gently wind the vice closed. I also have a hard time getting chimney back on by hand. Fluxing most time I did not pull one of the wires tight enough and it is grounding out inside the barrel. Could also be a little stub of wire grounding out on bottom where insulator and pin goes in. I use a magnifier glass to see them as I am over 50 and not good eyes anymore. LOL
