I'm new to vaping about 10 days in,... I got an ego starter kit that came with a clearomizer. A friend recommend I ditch the clearomizer and go with a tank, would the Kanger Pro Tank be a good choice?

I was thinking of upgrading my tank to the Pro Tank 2 and watched PBusardo's three-way comparison of the Pro Tank 2, Mini, and another brand. The one that came out on top was the PT 2 for cleaning ease, removable drip tip and good draw. Hope that helps. Imma gonna get me a PT2 so I can carry more liquid and try dripping.

I love and use EVODs and ProTanks.

-Someone earlier asked about the ProTank - you're friend probably meant switch to a CARTO-TANK, which is a different beast. The ProTank, despite the name, isn't really what people mean usually when they say a "tank". It's a "clearomizer" or "glassomizer". But it IS a good step up, too. Or the Mini ProTank which just looks sweet on an EGO battery...

-I also agree that the FastTech EVODs may not be worth the savings. I love FastTech, but I buy Kanger EVODs from other sources, as the FastTech EVOD is not a Kanger (Note - FastTech has BOTH a real Kanger ProTank, AND a knockoff - they're not dishonest about it, just make sure if you want a BRAND, that is SAYS the brand, or it may be a copy). I got a "fake" EVOD (on purpose) and the threads were terrible, and it was leaky and more trouble than the price difference was worth.

I got the two EVODs in with some replacement coils Friday morning. after 3 days of using them, i'm not sure they are for me. They do look real sleek on the ego batts, however for me the drawl is way too airy, I'm getting very inconsistent vapes, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's dry, and sometimes it's a very nasty burnt taste. I can honestly say that my cheap Bauway CE4 LR Clearomizers way out performs, they give tones of vape and taste better. Never a dry hit or burnt taste since I've been using those. Maybe i got 2 EVOD duds here ... Note; I did not get the EVODs from fastTech, I did get the Kranger. Also I am using fixed ego style batteries, I've tried the 2.5 ohm and the 2.2 ohm coils, I've removed the top wick, then removed the top 2 wicks, put both the wicks back, as that seemed to make it produce a lot less vapor without them. I've also had to remove clean and burn off the coils 4-5 times now in each one the past 3 days.
I'm not giving up on these just yet. I will be getting a VV battery and will try them on it and see if they improve any.

I want something that I can fill it & forget it. not really looking to constantly clean & maintenance a few times a day, or have to recoil to get it to work good.

Saturday I picked up a Vision 3.5ml ViVi Nova Tank Clearomizer, V3... the lady at the locale vape shop recommended. First thing I did was to swap out the 2.4 ohm coil for the 1.8 ohm, filled it up, let it set a few minutes & stating vaping ... WOW! the drawl is very nice and not airy,( Feels right to me, however it's a personal preference ) it brings out the flavor. Been vaping on it on & off for 2 days now & its been 100% consistent. not yet have i had any issues dry hits or burnt taste. I'm very happy with it.
Now to get a smaller one for when i am out n about.

I can't believe all the love for the EVOD tanks. I can't stand them. I bought 3 of them because of all the great reviews. I get low vapor, low flavor, lots of leaking and spitting juice in my mouth and I just don't like a bottom coil. I've had much better results from the T2's and CE's and Redux's. Oh, and the Mini Vivi Nova, which is probably my favorite clearo. But I do have to clean/dry burn on a daily basis.

Not only will you like the Evod tanks that came with your kit, the Evod Ego style batteries are consistently good performers. The nominal capacity on mine (900mAh) is a total lie. It has to be 1100 because I can go all day long on a single charge.

My only nit with Kanger is the high resistance of the coils that ship with the Evod. In most cases, those are going onto fixed voltage Ego style batteries or VV batteries with a limited range. The 2.5 ohm coils are great with VV mods that let you consistently push 4.0+ volts. But most people will find that 1.8 or 2.0 ohm heads work better on their Ego batteries.

I had a stock Protank coil rated at 2.5 that actually tested out at 2.8 on my Vamo. I don't have a fixed voltage Ego battery in my whole inventory that can drive that coil well enough to produce a suitable cloud, flavor and kick.

All of the ones I've bought online were genuine Kanger's, but the one I bought at a local shop when I didn't know any better ($12.95!) was a clone. I even asked the clerk if they were clones; he replied that they were genuine...

I found out when I went to replace the head and it didn't fit. The post wouldn't go into the center tube of the EVOD.

I was able to use the old post from the old head, so no big deal. Lesson learned. Keep your old posts :)

Busardo's review of the PT mini and PT II demonstrates the quality control problems with Chinese made parts. He had issues with the mini until he removed a wick and the one PT II he got had no airflow on a tube device. This is the kind of stuff that discourages people because my Protank I is awesome (I have a II but haven't used it yet), but have read about others on here having issues.

As far as the EVODs, I agree with anyone suggesting to get the real Kanger article. I have two clones (got off ebay so no idea where they really came from)and they are just trash, terrible heads, one of the tanks came apart at the seams (glue from window came apart after just two weeks). I ordered a real one from Sure Vapes, and the thing works like a well-oiled vape machine.

I now have 11 bottom coil systems including genuine Kanger Evods, MT3S', Protank 1 and Protank 2. I've never had a leaking problem that I didn't cause myself or fix very easily. I also have the new SmokTech Aro BCC, which is competitive in price and performance with the MT3S from Kanger. No problems there, either.

As noted above, the 2.5 ohm heads aren't always well suited for Ego batteries. If the coil isn't vaporizing the liquid quickly enough, it's going to leak. They do perform much better with lower resistance heads and/or additional flavor wicks tucked in over the coil. If you have an Evod (or any other BCC) that's leaking and spitting, this usually fixes the problem. It always has for me.

Does being able to change the voltage make a big difference? I'm already pretty sure ill eventually try something like that but I always like to learn as much as I can before I try it :D

Yes it can make a big difference. Some juices vape better at different voltages than others. Also if you have different atomizer heads at different resistances, then you'd definitely need a variable voltage device to dial in a good vape.

Another Evod lover here...like someone said earlier...great having different colour tanks.to keep track of flavours..only negative for me ..is the clear mouth piece.

I like my EVOD, but my only complaint is that it doesn't hold enough juice!

To Evod or not to Evod. It's all personal but I love the Evod and how the bottom coil and wicks are always wet.

I do believe if you are using a standard ego battery you need the 1.8 ohm coil for a stronger draw. I use the Joye C twist set at 4.2 volts along with 2.2 ohm coils. That works best for me.
