What the heck happened? Can anyone float a theory for me?

I got the Protank two days ago. It was too airy, so I took the advice of some on here and covered up three air holes with a bandaid. That worked pretty good and I vaped it straight for two days. (I'm using a basic eGo battery, nothing fancy).

Suddenly, this morning, I refilled it with the same liquid I was using before (Razzle from Apollo), and on my first pull it tasted like I inhaled burning paper. I let it sit - still burning paper. I took the bandaid off and let all the air holes open - still burning paper. Even my Vivi Nova never burned liquid this bad.

Gaaahhh! What should I do?

"...replacing the head..."

So in other words, I may have ruined the head by restricting the air flow? Damn, I knew I shouldn't have tried to do things over my head.

UPDATE - I unscrewed the head and the wicks were black. Probably indicates I fried them. I replaced it and it seems fine now. No more bandaids. Gonna have to learn to live with airy draw.

Ive been covering the airflow with plumbers thread tape since i got mine and never have had a problem with burning. My second head. I keep it pretty tight draw too. Im glad! Mine was $36.00 with shipping because i thought i was being clever by getting it on preorder from China! Dang. Lost out on that one but it hasnt had any problems if i could have lived with the airy draw and noisey stuff. Seeing as how the eads are $1.00-ish and the device is really selling for $16-ish im happy with it because i cant stand plastic clearo taste. I really dont know why they keep putting them out. Smoktech came out with a new pyrex with an aluminum cover tank thing $6.00-$12.00-ish. Vapor Joes anounced its availability for preorder? Im going to wait on user experience before buying a couple.

I've heard about plugging one or two holes three may have been to much. Have you tried washing the tank and head with PGA or alcohol? Dry burning is also another option but UNDERSTAND some have had luck with dry burning while others haven't. Apparently some are washing their tank and heads every 2-3 days. Haven't ordered one yet as I'm still torn as to the questionable improvement over my present delivery system.

I would definitely try dry burning the first head - just sounds like the coils got 'gunked up'. Pull the air tube off the head and just put the base with the head on your battery; press the 'vape button' until the coil starts to glow, release the vape button and repeat until the coil glows evenly (probably ~4 or 5 times). Replace the air tube/gasket and try it out.

I've adjusted to the airy draw by doing it nice and slow. Really prefer it now. ProTanks are the way to go for clearomizers.

I haven't adjusted how fast I take a draw for, but I have had a lot longer draws using my protanks. Its more comfortable taking toots from it because of the more airy draw I think. To the Op, I had a burnt taste once in my protanks, and it was because my settings on my APV somehow jumped 10watts without me being aware. Man was it a bad taste, but once I fixed my issue it was all good. Let us know what you end up doing with that head if you can salvage it.
