I've always been a pretty loyal carto tank user. 90% of my tank collection consists of carto tanks and I've never been a huge fan of clearomizers. I have a couple vivi novas, and a kanger T3, and for the past 4 months, they have all been sitting in a drawer collecting dust. I always have problems with clearomizers. Mostly wicking problems. I would set one up, and it would be ok for five minutes, and then it would be one dry burnt hit after another. I gave up on them.
Now the Kanger Protank has been really popular around here lately. I figured it was worth a shot for twenty bucks. It came in the mail on thursday, and I've been using it on a provari mini ever since. I never thought a clearomizer could perform like this. TONS of vapor, loads of flavor, and the throat hit is awesome. I've read that some people have been using the same head in these things for over a month with no issues. If this ends up being the case I'll definitely be purchasing additional heads.
There have been a couple setbacks that I had to work around however. The kit comes with two heads. One is pre installed in the unit out of the box, and there is an additional replacement head. The first head didn't work out at all. It tasted burnt all the time. Even at 3.2v A quick ohm check on the provari showed the coil at 1.9 ohms. I know that these heads are supposed to be 2.5 ohms out of the box. It was a dud
So I switched to the other head. This one came out to 2.5 ohms like it should, and it performed decent. But I would still get an occasional dry hit when chain vaping. I had to take the head apart and remove one of the wicks. Keep in mind that I'm using 70/30 juice, so it's hard to believe that one little extra wick could cause a problem. But it did. After removing a wick, it's been smooth sailing ever since. I highly recommend this tank
Don't get me wrong, I still love my carto tanks, and they will still remain my primary vape, but if you haven't tried the protank yet, give it a shot. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.
