I have been really enjoying my mini. It's been vaping really great. BUT --- The build deck is pixxing me off!! This is the second time replacing the wick. The first time it took me twenty minutes to get the sleeve unscrewed off of the deck, so I made sure not to screw them on tight last time. Now I am replacing the wick again and the same thing. The cap came off easily but there is nothing to grab on the deck. I was trying / trying / trying, so I put the cap on again and finally got the deck unscrewed using the cap for leverage. NOW the cap is really stuck to the sleeve. I finally just got it off by banging it on the counter. THIS REALLY SUKZZ.

Is anyone else having this problem?
I am going to sand the edges on the sleeve to see if it will help next time.

It seems to happen only when the deck has been coated in juice. When dry, I havent seen that issue arise. You could try the pliers method but you risk damaging your threads. I would not recommend it unless its a last resort. Also, be careful if your insulator is the clear variety and not the brown peek material or else it could melt on you from normal use. Mine did. Good luck!

Right after I posted I sanded the edges a little then "lightly" put the cap back on again, it stuck again. It cam off faster after smacking it on the counter (AGAIN). Come to think of it, I think that's what I did to finally get the base off the first time.

You're braver than I am! But hey, if it works for you, then vape on man!

I emailed kanger USA with all my info and they emailed me back saying all subtank minis come with the new insulators...

Change the drip tip. I didn't have any extra tips and didn't like the wide tip of the Subtank, so I swapped it out with the tip for my Protank 2. Now, I get the spitting (whenever there is crackling) on my Protank, but not the Subtank. I currently have a SmokTech Mega Pyrex tip. You problem is 100% drip tip related.

You are 100% correct. I had a pyrex drip tip on an old protank - that did the trick on the mini. Thanks!! Comfortably vaping the crap out of the .5 OCC again, - Nice tip.

Did you ask whether they meant the clear ones or the brown peek ones? As far as Im aware, all of the minis will come with the brown insulators from now on. Its only those already on shelves that have the clear ones (which have issues)

I have been loving the Kanger Sub Tank mini, except for the REALLY hot drip tip!

Replaced it with the one in this photo, and it's solved the issue.

Really enjoying the Kanger Sub mini! Fantastic tank, great flavor, no leaking problems....

Where did you get the drip tip? I found a pirex one place online but was $12.

I don't know why I'm having a different experience but with the 0.5 OCC and rba I'm having a great cool flavorful vape at 22 watts and no desire to go higher :/. I went to 24-25 watts and felt the heat but the vapor/flavor wasn't noticeably better to me. It certainly wasn't worth burning my lips.

I just emailed them back detailing exactly which insulators I have. Still awaiting their response. Has anyone just bought the brown ones off their website? I'm just wondering what the delivery time is like...

Its relatively fast from what I've heard. Dont forget you would have to pay shipping if you went that route. That being said, if you bought a unit that has the clear insulator, in my opinion it should be up to kanger to provide you with the updated safe insulator free of charge....

Let us know how it goes :)

Alright here it is, directly from kanger:
"Please be informed that the Mini RBA already upgraded and both transparent and light brown insulator is in same function. Kangertech only send the SUBTANK RBA insulator in free of charge, for Mini RBA insulator, you need to send back the insulator to our customer service center at 11555 Medlock Bridge Rd. Suite 100, Johns Creek, GA 30097. Once receive your Mini RBA insulator, we will arrange the insulator for you"

That seems very odd to me. If they are the "same function" why have they made the newest brown ones in two sizes? One fits the original subtank and the other fits the mini. They are shipping them together from what Ive witnessed on reddit. If they are truly the same function (which they aren't, otherwise they would be selling the clear ones on their service page and have no need to make an upgraded brown one) then why are they asking you to send them back? And why are they replacing other people's clear insulators free of charge? I feel they are giving you the run around on this one.... Kinda shady honestly...

and here is a post made by a user on the vape underground forums having the same issues I am

Kanger has kind of screwed the pooch on this one. They now have 3 different insulators, and the first 2 are a problem... and not just with tank cracker juices. The first insulator, the white one, has been admitted by Kanger to be a problem. The second, the clear PEEK insulator replaced the original white and is also a problem material. Kanger has admitted this too. I have the Kanger mini with the clear insulator (that was supposed to fix the problem) and it has deteriorated on my tank after 3 fills by visible cracks around the airflow hole and discoloration of the material from clear to an opaque muddy color. I have only vaped a strawberry with a little caramel in it, so tank cracking juice is not an issue here. Kanger has, since the release of the mini with the clear PEEK insulator, released a new blended PEEK material that is light brown. I have ordered this to see how it performs. The new insulators are on sale at $0.49 for 2... 1 for the 25mm tank and 1 for the 22mm mini. You can contact them for a free replacement but you will need your box for the serial number, authenticity number, where you bought the tank, and address information. I just decided to buy the insulators rather than dig up all the information. Hopefully this newest material is tested well and will work better. Time will tell. I do appreciate Kanger is responding fast to the issue and hope the latest insulator has been properly tested and vetted.

Maybe because they want mine to melt before they replace it. What should I do?
