You wicked it though, right?

I did wick it, the cotton did not tug or move the coil in any way and went through it easily. You seem to keep attempting to find a reason why I caused this? I didn't. I am an experienced vaper, have built many many coils and have owned many devices over the years. The clear insulators are a known problem material, that is why Kanger released the brown/tank "peek" ones. The clear ones were mislabeled as peek and are now phased out. I wish I would have known that before I used my rba, but I watched a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1Th2lX8tCU) saying the clear ones were the fixed ones. Hadn't heard of any problems with the clear material until after my insulator had already melted. I am not the only one having this issue. Do you work for Kanger or something? I love their products, and am not trying to damage their reputation, I just want my product to work as advertised because I really enjoyed using it while it worked. If their customer service is as good as I've heard from numerous people, I would think they would have no problem making things right for their long time customers and fans.

Update

Ok guys I have been testing this build all day and for the last hour I have had this thing at 40watts and not even a hint of a dry hit with 70/30 juice, thats the highest i have ever vaped anything and it is a hot vape to say the least. The rDNA is set to 440F and looking at the mirror while hitting it and temp control did not come on so I know it is a strait 40watt hit. (I have a little head ake now) When I first set this thing up I said that at 25 watts it felt like it was on the verg of a dry hit, that must have been the new cotton taste comming threw now that is gone it has been great. We have a winner here guys I won't build my rba anyother way now, I hope some of you try this out and tell us how it preforms for you......
I've been having problems with horrible dry hits with both .5 occ coil and RNA section. Could you post some pics of your build?

I got my subtank from vapor dna. Just emailed them about the insulators as I have the clear ones as well and they too told me that all the subtank minis have the new insulators. Looks like a lot of people are unaware of this clear one being a problem as well. If you go to the official kanger website, the only replacement insulator they sell is the brown one.

So I've been playing with my Subtank Mini for the past few days, and I keep getting a really warm vape. Borderline too hot at times. EVEN when i set the wattage to something low like 12 watts. It seems that unless the wick is super wet, the vapor becomes really hot. But even when the wick is super wet its still warmer than most of my other tanks. This is with both the OCC coils and the RBA section. I even put a nickel build in the RBA, set to 430F, and the vapor is still hotter than I'm used to.

I guess I have one of the batches with the clear insulator. It just gets way too warm for me to be comfortable.

Super letdown, because I was pretty excited about these. Is anyone else getting a hot vape from theirs? I haven't really seen anything about it being too hot.

It's a known issue. See posts 26 and 27:

I didn't notice Phil mention that in his review, guess I missed it. But its not the drip tip getting hot, its the vapor that is really hot. I guess that can be misinterpreted as the drip tip being hot. But I put my tongue in the way of the airflow, and the vapor is getting my tongue hot, but not my lips around the drip tip. If that makes any sense, lol.

Not much I can do about it. I was just curious if others felt the same way. I thought maybe I'm just used to cool vapes and this sort of thing is more normal these days.

Mine had a warm, wet, juicy vape that had superb flavor until the insulator gave out. It was never too hot to cause discomfort. Sometimes the drip tip would heat up slightly and get a little uncomfortable, but it wasnt very noticable.

Hey I know what you mean. I changed the drip tip on my 25mm subtank for a pyrex glass one, there's pics around here somewhere. It made all the difference in the world.... cooled it right down.

I have a mini and nano on the way in the mail. I'll be changing the tips out first thing to something else.

The mini has the clear insulators. :D I'm looking forward to trying it out.

If you dont want to risk damaging your tank using the clear insulators that are defective, you can buy the latest upgraded ones here, though I think kanger really should provide them to anybody that received their RBA with the clear insulator. Notice the only insulators offered are the upgraded brown ones (blended peek material, their third revision of insulators)

I have been loving the Kanger Sub Tank mini, except for the REALLY hot drip tip!

Replaced it with the one in this photo, and it's solved the issue.

Really enjoying the Kanger Sub mini! Fantastic tank, great flavor, no leaking problems....

Yes, if you read back through this thread hot/warm vape has been discussed before. I noticed it as well, much warmer than my Atlantis.

Go back to post 214 and 215 on this thread there are some good pics of a build. I had trouble with dry hits on my first .5 occ coil, gave up on it after 1 day, the second one is doing much better. I'm running 15-18watts now was running higher watts on the first one.

I have been really enjoying my mini. It's been vaping really great. BUT --- The build deck is pixxing me off!! This is the second time replacing the wick. The first time it took me twenty minutes to get the sleeve unscrewed off of the deck, so I made sure not to screw them on tight last time. Now I am replacing the wick again and the same thing. The cap came off easily but there is nothing to grab on the deck. I was trying / trying / trying, so I put the cap on again and finally got the deck unscrewed using the cap for leverage. NOW the cap is really stuck to the sleeve. I finally just got it off by banging it on the counter. THIS REALLY SUKZZ.

Is anyone else having this problem?
I am going to sand the edges on the sleeve to see if it will help next time.
