Or one of mine.....from back in my "contact coils are better" days. :D

To be clear, I am in no way advocating tensioned spaced twisted coils as the "do all-end all" for every device out there. I run them in all my RTAs for the exceptional flavor production, extended wick life and excellent temperature stability. And they fire very fast at 20-25w. Tensioned contact coils are still my preference for my RDAs due to the abundant airflow available to keep things cool and because of the ease of wick changes. I honestly haven't tried many twisted winds in my drippers and never spaced. That's coming though.

We each have to make our own decisions as to what works best...but that's just it...what works best...not what someone says will work best. I haven't seen one post with a link to proven physics or microscopic images supporting their claims of the science of vaping coils...it doesn't exist to my knowledge and I probably wouldn't understand it if it did...lol.....so I go on with trial and error methods and observations until I'm happy with my vape...hope you all will too!

Cig I'm happy, if you're happy with your vape.

:D

We're both happy if we can get 'em to a vape…

(not, but I did it just like the video.)

G'luck.

I had the Aspire Atlantis tank for a month but was watching a lot of reviews and they all, but one, said the Kanger subtank mini has better flavor. I got it Feb 23 but the 0.5ohm coil was just too hot and i wasn't pushing it wattage wise [had it at 10w]. I have a light tobacco/grape/honey 70vg/30pg - 3mg nic v-juice and i was getting a bad feeling in my chest and throat. I had a feeling i was getting a burning heavy feeling there. I was definitely getting great flavor but the physical effects didn't seem worth it. I have a iPV min mod.

I took a day off of the Kanger and went back to the Atlantis for a day. Today i primed and put in the 1.2ohm coil to see if that would help. So far i'm not getting the flavor from it at 17w.

I only started subohm vaping on Jan. 23rd with the Atlantis. I smoked for 40+ years. I wonder if my respiratory system can really handle subohm heat.

Just wondering, what set up do you use? I have the ipv mini 30 watt... when I vape pwm mode I can vape higher wattage on my .5 coils when it's on dc-dc most anything over 10-12 watts is too much.... there are bunch of tips in this thread about the vape being too hot. I am new to sub ohm and learned here that just because it's sub ohm, doesn't mean it has to be hot... warm, sure... but there are ways to set yourself up at low/sub ohm and high wattage with a nice cool to warm vape. You can explore and you may be surprised what you come up with. I sure was/am, lol... I thought high wattage would be hot vapor... some have set up long drip tips and other tricks to help too but, even for me with .5 ohm coil (rba pre made coil, with my own wicking-cotton) @ 20-22 watts, second to widest airflow setting (two-hole setting) my regular drip tip never gets hot and my vapor is deliciously warm-ish... :) keep playing with different ways to set it up, you will find a way that works for you :)

Nice combo here. The SXmini (Yihi) and the SubTank mini...perfect match.

(why do my pics always come out sideways and small???) mercy.

Great looking together, I looked up your SXmini and i am envious. On the other hand mine was only $54 [online] but it only goes to 30w. I also think mine can only handle 0.5ohm and higher coils or builds. But it more then suits my needs at this time. -- I am not smoking combustibles.

Joey, the SXmini is about accuracy, flexibility (has 5 preset power settings X 3 power modes for each of those settings), and dependability. Yeah, $189 was more than I would normally pay, but it was my 2 year No-Smoking b-day present from the wifey. (Me providing the wish-list, of course)
Is it worth it? Yup, it is to me. I can get so many variations out of those combination of settings that it is truly amazing the fine tuning I can get out of my vapes. The price is still less than I would have paid for my monthly smokes in the old days.

Best of luck as you start your vape journey,

DP

Open your pictures on your PC first and save them with the correct orientation. Even though they are sideways, when you open them on your PC they will seem correct, the program auto-corrects it, if you save it you should get a popup asking if you want to replace the original. The small has to do with settings on ECF I'm guessing.

So Cal
Before i had issues with the heat i did a video test with a logitech cam ... vaping the Kanger mini and the Atlantis @ 15w .. I am using a 70vg/30pg juice. Both are 0.5ohm coils. The newer all cotton coil for the Atlantis.

The flavor is much richer with the Kanger mini.

I have both tanks as well. I have found that the Kanger ST mini burns hotter at the same wattage as the Atlantis, so if I like an eliquid at 20W on the ST, I tend to like it at 25-30 in the Atlantis. Do you find the same to hold true for you?

how in the holy do you change the o-rings?

can't seem to get the tank apart..

The 1st time is the worst! Get a coffee cup fill it with water and place it in the microwave set for beverage. DO NOT PUT YOUR SUBTANK IN YET! Once the water is nice and hot, remove from the microwave and drop ST in. let it soak for a good 15 minutes, then remove and while still hot use a twist and pull motion to remove glass from the top cage. Many have used those rubber grippers meant for removing lids from jars for extra gripping power. Mine was a real bear to remove the first time, now its easy!

I hold the glass while pushing up and in on inner metal tube while giving it a slight twist

what tools are you using? it hurts if I use my finger, and there's no way to twist, push and hold with only two hands and some sort of utensil...

eta: used a grippy pad to hold the top and twist off the glass
