Do you think twisted 30 gauge would fit in the egrip?

30ga twisted is to low res for the limited space we have to work with in the rba. The coil in the pic is 32ga twisted on 3/32" dia. Even using that larger than factory diameter it came in at 1.3 ohms (.2 ohms below target res). It's that doggone bend that the the wick has to make that's kill'n us for space. I'd really like to run a spaced twisted in it but there may not be enough room.

30AWG TLP 6/5, 2.5mm i.d., 9mm L/L, t.m.c. = .4345Ω

A straight line length comparison as there's no way to break out a lead twist comp in S-E. Res is closer to .5Ω, a wee bit on the high side.

But this…

Now Captain, didya not believe me post? <In my best Scotty.>

:D

Take a wind off this for a bit higher res. Likewise I'l try an extra wind and higher Ø for the SubT rba as I have the chance. And yes, your spaced wind should fit with a bit larger loop dia., no cig? I'd try that. Prolly will.

This build's in almost another week in on the first rewick, kickin' some serious.

BTW, all your twisted spacers look tensioned.

:p

Good luck cig. Hope you know we're just funnin' ya.

:)

So Cal
the drip tip is a viscous ant Chaplin. pretty easy to find.

Yes, that tip goes well with the ST! I'm guessing the red is delrin? Does it have a single or double O-rings?

Mac... I still have to give this build a shot! Looks awesome and the ability to link to the coils specs via Steam Engine is just so freaking cool! Thanks!

BTW... has anyone told you that you resemble Detective John McClane? LOL!

Open your pictures on your PC first and save them with the correct orientation. Even though they are sideways, when you open them on your PC they will seem correct, the program auto-corrects it, if you save it you should get a popup asking if you want to replace the original. The small has to do with settings on ECF I'm guessing.

Thanks Randy. I will give that a try next time.

Soooo, back to wicking material for the STmini...got that Cotton Bacon today and rewicked the 0.49 ohm, twisted 28g. First, all the reviews said it had no cottony flavor...or any flavor, just neutral...BS. It has more of a flavor than JC, but it does dissipate quickly and breaks in to full juice flavor after 10 minutes or so. It says it's enough in the bag for 40 wicks...not sure what they are wicking (the Olympic Torch?) cause there is enough for me to do at least 90 to 100 wicks in the STmini.

It does wick very well, and is clean and sterile, organic, high quality cotton. Bright white, but says no bleach. Dense with long fibers. Fluffs up nicely. Overall, the JC seems just as good or better to me. Nothing to make me howl at the moon.

From the reviews I thought it was some major breakthrough, and maybe if you are wicking a dripper it has an edge over the JC cotton due to longer pieces for covering the bottom of your dripper deck.

Does it pop?
I'm driving my wife nuts, I have 3mm coil 5 wraps of 27awg drill twisted pair at 1ohm and it's popping corn.
Working well but it's loud :p

They don't ordinarily if there's enough cotton density. But they can as any wick if it's drying out too quickly. If it's an ordinary parallel and you just twained the leads it will stay hot. This is a tensioned wind. Let us know as the cotton breaks in. You should still enjoy some stability given the support for the parallels the tight leads bring.

You should make sure you're end-turn cotton is not sagging. I wrote about "pouffy" earlier. The clouds this chucker produces are very real especially with a fresh build and wick.

It should really be poppin', LOL. :D

Good luck.
