Hey Bammer555 I know what you mean. I am new to it to, alot of trial and error. Evey time I think I have it figured out bam burnt hit....grrrrr... but this rba build is the real deal, I am so glad i watched that video instead of passing on it because it is in a different language. You should check it out, I am new to building coils to. just take your time and you wont be disapointed. Just go to youtube and search for this title and watch the video...note I didn't do the twisted wire I just used one pice of 28 guage ni200. Just use a coil calculator for what ever wire and ohms you want.....

this is the title to search for
[h=1]RBA Rebuild Verical Capillary Coil, Kanger SubTank - 1.[/h]

Thanks Cooney, I'll check that video out. Boy your right about trial and error, I usually get about 20 or so hits and then it starts getting dry hits. I rewicked it last night with what I thought was going to be to much cotton and so far it's working great! I've gone through half a tank and it's wicking perfectly, fingers crossed.

Ok, back in the loop. Sorry dk. Slipped my mind this is a kayfun style RBA. And I'm still workin' the stock coils. Thx for the pic.

G'luck.

:)

no worries Mac, as of the moment I'm using the 1.2 OCC, so far so good man. nice flavor and vapor. but still kinda like my kfl+ because of its tight drag!

I tried skimming through all the pages of this thread and searching but I couldn't find what I was looking for so I hope I don't get blasted for asking some simple noob questions here:

Just got my subtank mini last night, using the 1.2 ohm OCC at 17-19 Watts, I tried "breaking-in" the coil at first starting at 12W and it was leaking through the airholes so I learned that lesson.

But anyway, my question is this: How long, typically, does your wicking and coil last on the RBA if you do, say, a 1.0 ohm build on it?

A lot depends on the juice you are using if it is a thicker dark juice it wont last as long as a lighter thinner juice. Also depends on how high of watts you run You will be replacing the wick before the coil. You can dry burn just the coil to get the gunk off. My lasted for over 30ml. Thicker and higher watts

So say I'm using a 70/30 vg/pg light colored or clear juice at 18-20 watts on the 1.2 OCC head, and I use the same juice and wattage on a built 1 ohm rba head. Which should last longer?

About how long do you think before I have to rewick the cotton?
How long should the coil last overall?

Hey, any of you had the subtank mini's airflow disassembled?
Mine just unscrewed from the first time I had my hands on it. A very little spring came out and had to pull it to make it larget so it clicks when you adjust the holes.
This happens very often when I try to unscrew the tank, so if it happens to any of you, be careful not to loose that little spring.
Would like to buy 10 of those springs if I can, just to be sure :)

Tried, couldn't. Get a back-up when available and before initial stocks run out. Kanger has a habit of letting that happen and then you're out weeks waiting. Or, paying top $ for those who have a few. Same thing when replacement silicone hits. At least if you have one back-up you can ride things out.

Good luck S.

:)

Mmmm looks like there is also a little metal ball that goes there also ( the spring pushes the ball for the click steps)... it probably flew away... :-(

Usuing the subtank mini on my Doomsday v1 mech mod. Wish I had a regulated mod for it but I don't. Used the preinstalled .5 ohm OCC and primed it...got nothing but dry or burnt tasting hits. Realized my battery was fully charged so it was putting out around 35 watts. I switched the battery out for one charged to about 3.9V and it got better. No burnt taste but dry hits remained, just not as frequent. Decided to try out the RBA using the provided coil and cotton..SO much better than the OCC. Granted the first few hits had a very odd taste to them...I struggled through it and that went away. Now nothing but flavorful, vaporful, dry free hits.

The juice channels on the RBA section are just freakin tiny! I'm going to open them up a little. Seems to be wicking fine with J. Cotton, but I think just increasing the size of the channels (especially where they meet the deck) will help a bunch.

I was thinking the same thing. Whats your plan drill, dremmel tool?

It has been reported by some reviews that the Subtank models aren't as power hungry as the Atlantis. It will perform similarly at lower power. At the same time, it will produce a burned taste at higher power. I would dare to say that an unregulated battery is not ideal for use of this tank. Get yourself a regulated battery, start at a lower setting and work your way up until you achieve the desired effect.

I’ve been running the mini with the occ coils for a few days and I think it’s been spitting hot juice into my mouth. – Its weird. I can’t really feel individual hot drops of juice but my tongue and the roof of my mouth fell like they are burnt. Like when you eat a really hot piece of pizza. I’m running the 1.2ohm OCC at about 15 watts and the .5 at about 24 watts. Is anyone else experiencing a burnt mouth from these?
Anyway – I just switched to the RBA hoping it’s different – I think the coil sits lower in the device with the RBA..
Thanks

Could be the heat from the vape, I noticed the same thing. Definetely a very warm vape especially if you chain vape:vapor:
