Just curious. Has the Subtank ruined you on other tanks? I rebuild my own Protank 3's and others of similar. the Subtank is the first with this much airflow. I am now trading off and on with a subtank and a protank and I now find the PT (with and adjustable airflow base) way too tight, my wife has a ego and a clearomizer that I feel like im trying to pull a battleship through a drinkbox straw.

No NR wire needed T. Thanks for the question. Good one.

The leads are stable on this parallel from the jump because it's just very symmetrical. Starting with the coil itself wound with tension. The purpose of the twisted leads is to protect that symmetry. It is fascinating that it looks like flatwire. That's the effect of uniformity I talk about. Running at about 15-18W it's producing every bit the vapor volume of the OCC @ 30W but with exceptional density. And I'm running the slot full out open to support that vaporization rate. Result, a very luxuriously warm vape with the flavor density normally associated with a much cooler vape (lower watts). However, not any way as airy or hot as the OCC at rated power.

Best part, once you've got a tensioned wind down this one's easy. Thicker wire that's holding it's shape is a lot less challenging to situate, .... with a screwdriver to hold ends in and screw leads down. Why I recommend tension winding to both new vapers and for advanced builds.

Good luck.

:)

That picture isn't of an OCC head ....so can similar be done on a SubTank using the OCC platform? Any recommended vid's on accomplishing this for such a platform?

You nailed it.. I was used to a tight draw mouth to lung until this RTA.. Now I am done with all my old gear, hopefully someone will take all of it off my hands soon.

Same thing here too. Even the kayfun's aren't seeing much love around here anymore.

Whats wrong on my RBA setup ? I am using the pre-build spaced RBA 0.5 ohm coil (measured as 0.6 ohm on my mod) with KGD cotton and vaping at 20 watts I can only take around 3 seconds pulls mostly before it starts to be unpleasable and somewhat too hot. Also the vapour isn't good as well. I am vaping with the biggest airflow open .. what actually sucks on it ?
As you can see I am trying to keep the juice channels free and etc. I am not sure what cause that ... I tried multiple times to build it with more or less cotton and etc but its the same ... Any ideas what to change or what kind of build to test out ? I will gladly appreciate it to help me out on the build.

wick looks too long, maybe a bit too loose through the coil, my setup w/stock coil.

thick through the coil, ends cut angled slightly and short to just reach deck

wick2.jpg

ends cut so they just reach the deck, juice channel clear

How are you keeping the legs from turning red? Are these NR (non-resistant) wire leads?

Simple answer Taylor, the screw posts suck the heat out of legs. If you fired it long enough to heat up the screw posts the legs would begin to turn red. Of course hot legs are caused by a different reason. More on that later.

Isn't this considered as under wicked ? I will have to try it but mine is similiar. It has 'shoulders' but its just slightly touching the deck. What else may cause my current issue .. maybe you could suggest me a build to try that should be better ? let me know please ..

Also at what watts you vape this stock rba coil at 0.5 ohm ?

Wow, you guys weren't kidding about wicking it chunky! I rewicked two of mine this morning, and stuffed that wick with KGD so much it should have choked it! It's amazingly good and wicking like a champ. There was so much in there I really didn't even push it away from the juice channels (I was prepared to thin the tails if necessary) and it's working very well - thanks for the great advice:D

Some insights on my post Considering an OCC rebuild?

Good luck.

:)

p.s. I guess Rip T's OCC vid is about as good as any to dup the fact OCC at about 3mm.

ive done a loose fitting wick going through the coil so it doesnt deform the coil == fail.
ive done a thick fitting wick going through coil so it wants to deform coil == success

i have to twist/screw in the wick as im pulling it through the coil or else it wont go through the coil, i then undo the twisted wick cut the tail short and thin some of the tail out to not jam up the deck, its been working for me but ymmv.
yes it goes against everything i seen and heard about rba's in general, bwtf it works.

That much for 25w or so.....more than that for 30w

Thats my current wick:
Image02.jpg

At around 20 watts and 2-3 second pulls at maximum its too damn hot. It's not good at all. I cant get it past 20 watts at all and what's for sure not good and stable. What may cause that, so I can test out something different?

I am using the stock rba pre-build coil at 0.6 ohm as measured by my mod.
