Does a regular 510 drip tip fit in a Subtank Mini? Does it have to be wide bore (and if it doesn't have to be do you personally recommend it)?

I'm going to order my first Subtank Mini tomorrow along with an istick, and I was thinking about color-coordinating the whole thing (either blue or black with the istick, O-Rings on STM, and drip tip).

Yes it takes a regular drip tip, and no doesn't have to wide bore, I have replaced both of mine, but they are still wide bore though.

Does the wide bore really affect the hit at all?

yes, it does, and not necessarily in a good or bad way, I switch out DTs on the reg just for the different vape I get from different tips.

I have found that some drip tips fit the stm loosely. Those with a double o-ring or a wide overhang fit best. It's always nice to get extra tips; they can be had from $3 to $25 and can drastically alter the flavor and overall vape quality. I tend to prefer pyrex tips myself. <--- Not a fan of either metal or plastic taste in my mouth.

I ordered a wide bore carbon fiber drip tip at the same time that I ordered my Subtank, simply because number one I love the way carbon fiber looks on anything and two because I heard people talking about how hot the stock drip tip could get. I personally would recommend a wide bore, since the Subtank cranks out a lot of vapor in the first place.

One other thing I like about glass drip tips is you can see and know they're clean!

I've got a slow leak at the bottom seal on my stm. I'm putting the tank on pretty tight and it shouldn't be leaking...



In an attempt to fix, I used the replacement o-ring that came with it and it still leaks!



I'm gonna give the colored stm O-rings a try in case they revised the design.

Sometimes tight is the problem..... Over tight can compress the rings, just like the valve cover on a car. I go just snug

My three all ooze a little overnight. One of them was sitting in a puddle this morning! And two of them have the new, colored O rings - maybe I'm guilty of overtightening?

Hey hey..... I was having problem after problem. Tried so many coils, diameters, distance from air hole, more cotton, less cotton.... Constant same thing. Tried rip tippers pancake method, still no go..... Until this:

However I modified a bit. Used this general principle with KGD. Cut strip 3 times size I'd normally use, peeled off packed layer, then fluffed up so it was really loose and uniform, not rectangular anymore. Then followed method in video above. The modified portion is when I cut the length even with the threads for the barrel, not the tank. Then using Kanthal, slowly moved a super thin layer toward the deck just adjacent to the lip of the deck kind of like peeling a banana. So what you get is most of the tail still sticking parallel to the coil.

The result is super think wick that holds tons of juice, but doesn't get choked off and has super clear channels.

Can vape long pulls, high wattage, and chain without issue, great flavour, and no leaking or flooding.

Tips are definitely changeable. Using an acrylic drip tip that I polished myself for it to be clear. Plus the black O rings that came with it.

Newb RBA question, but do most of you just de-skin on side of the KGD cotton before wicking? Also, is there a better method than the "Phil Busardo" technique I've been using? I make sure that i can see light throught the juice channels and it works fairly well but I'm still getting the occasional burnt hit using the RBA at 15w with .5 coil and 70VG/30PG.

What mod are you using?

I generally remove a skin on KGD for RTAs, most of the time I don't bother on RDAs. For RTAs, I'll also lightly roll it into an almost tube of cutton.

So... is chunky/thick wick the preferred or most reliable for the ST's ? I know I've always heard less is more ....but the more threads on this I read, the less that seems to be applicable.

IPV Mini 2 doesn't really buck voltage, so with a .5ohm coil the lowest you're actually firing it at is around 25W (3.6V is the lowest the board outputs), not 15W.

in general thick wick for stmini is better, depends on coil type also.
imo the tails work better if they are slightly thinned.
try it urself, loose fitting wick and work ur way up as u test. easy todo on the rba
thinner/loose fitting wick seems to get burnt taste after a short while.

With the ST and not having exposed wicking to block the juice flow more is more

Yep, I too have found chunky thick wick with thinned tails to work well in this, well most RTAs really.

It's showing 2.9v at 15w with .5ohm coil. You're saying I'm actually at 25w?

Around there. The lowest I could get one of these boards to go was 3.55v when measuring the voltage, by spec its 3.6v.

The 2.9V the screen shows isn't accurate.

To be honest, I haven't payed much attention to the voltage reading. I've just been checking ohms with new coils (which seems to be accurate) and adjusting wattage until comfortable.
