Just got my first Subtank Mini in the mail today... It's my first rebuildable AND my first experience with sub-ohm in any capacity.

WOW. Couldn't imagine anything out there is better, honestly. If anyone is considering whether or not to buy one -- stop wasting time and just buy one already! :)

Looks great, stock coils work extremely well, rebuildable seems very straight-forward and simple yet well designed, air flow control works very well.

Because I looked for a post from the vendor in the suppliers forum and could not find it, I'll give them a little well-deserved plug here:

I got mine from VapeSuperSaver. Shipped Tuesday around noon when ordered late Monday night -- arrived to me on Thursday. Everything was fantastic and well packaged, well protected. Prices were unbeatable ( $30 free shipping for a Mini. I got two Minis, a five pack of replacement coils, and the set of colored O-Rings for about $75 shipped when I would've paid more for just the two tanks at my local shop) and my one e-mail to customer service was replied to within minutes.

That's where I bought my last one from, and a set of colored O rings! Super fast shipping and unbeatable prices - I was impressed.

ive got 2.
rba well designed? not. they need to put in some knurling on the rba parts, im good at getting it apart now but u need a few trial and errors w/some tricks to unscrew everyting apart.

The RBA top part has knurling. Sometimes getting the chimney to unscrew can be a HUGE pita though. I just learnt to not overtighten at all.

I think the mini rba is very well designed, the way you traps the leads is brilliant.

Agreed the bottom of the rba would be much easier to separate with some knurling. Aside from that it works very well and is easy to use.

I recently purchased joeys' STm from him. He was having lots if probs with "burny hits" at 16-20w w/rba if you all remember from his earlier posts. Trying not to offend joey here but there is nothing wrong with the device. Chaining it at 45w with my standard 6wrap 32g twisted spaced 2.78mm coil and chunky wick technique. Perhaps he never reached the level of wicking density required for this device, or perhaps something was not quite right with the coil. Don't know....the build was removed when I received it. Dang it....I really wanted to see what he was doing.

Anyway, thought I should post this for those who read about his issues and perhaps could be turned off by them.

Go Kanger!

How do you get your legs of cotton to stay in place when wicking chunky? i push mine back away from the airhole but they keep moving back
right now using 3mm twisted 28 at 1.2 ohms, wicked chunky but i thinned the legs

I wet the wick before pressing the tails away from the juice channels. They migrate back sometimes but as long as an air bubble rises in the tank after each 3sec pull I just keep vapn'.

Your 3mm coil has approx 15% more wick than my 2.78mm coil. Def harder to keep away from the channels. I haven't really seen any benefit in going larger than 2.5mm in the STmini but I use a 6-32 screw to wind my spaced coils so 2.78mm is just what it comes out to.

i thin the tails

i've been trying that fairly successfully, what is your technique? i use my smallest screwdriver to kinda comb/rake the tails, i also snip the sides of the tails on an angle so they are more of a straight line and less of a fan/broom head
sometimes i find that i pull out cotton from the center tho and can cause dry spots (thinning too much)
i feel like i've almost got wicking this sucker down :p

As an update to my leaking problem thru the air hole, after replacing the O-rings, and still having a leak, I took it back to the shop I bought it from, and they gave me a new rba head. That seems to have solved the problem. After several days use now, no leaks. Possible over tightening, or just faulty gasket on the head was the culprit. I am going to get a couple new heads to have as spares, along with replacement O-rings.

I'm on my 2nd STm. The first was a huge learning experience for me. I've been a vaper for about 4 years now, I started with a Riva kit from Liberty Flights USA. I tried different setups looking for something that I could put together that would last for a day. Attys, cartos, ego tanks, BIG cartos, nothing seemed to work like I wanted. I went with the EVODs a while back and they worked just fine. I'm not sure how long ago it was a couple months I guess maybe before Christmas, anyway the EVOD heads must have been retooled because the hit was so tight it was a constant fight to get anything even close to a nice airy throat/lung hit. The search was on. I read a lot and was settled on the Atlantis. Then I started finding reviews about the not so good ceramic they used. That led me to the Kanger STm.

1st Kanger STm I struggled with, I was getting burnt hits, too hot to draw, harsh harsh hits, and leaking all over. I thought I was just SOL, I kept working at it, reading this thread and hoping for something good. I could get maybe a 1/4 tank and then the coil would get so gunked up all flavor and enjoyment was gone. Burnt hits were sometimes harsh hits and the other way around. A good outcome was I learned how to recoil and rewick, successfully. Gotta take the good when it comes.

Solutions I found that worked for me. The first solution that didn't work, taking hard draws with my finger over the intake holes and releasing, sure it helped to pull the juice in but with a malfunctioning coil/wick the juice just ran out the RBA or OCC down into the air chamber and eventually out and all over my pocket. The tank didn't and doesn't leak, it was all me. Burnt hits, I wasn't creating enough pull to keep the juice flowing, I was hitting it like the EVOD. The STm needs to be hit like you mean it. The burning and fouling of the coil/wick would turn my juice dark juice dark. Too much heat, control the heat by increasing the draw, you can feel the difference. I kept trying a different coil dimensions, different amounts of wicking material, up the W, down the W with both the RBA and the OCC. Harsh hits occurred when there was an overabundant of juice. In the beginning, well up to a week or so ago I was mistaking harsh for burnt, both burn the throat and are just yuk. Harsh = too much juice, resulting from too hard of a pull from trying to draw in more juice or way too much juice for a primer.

2nd Kanger STm. Took it out of the box and took some deep, deep nose hits, I had heard of machine oil smell, I got nuthin. On to the unpacking, a few more sniffs, nuthin. Put the .5 in and haven't had anything bad happen. Up and down on the Ws. I use the pulse method, if it starts to feel hot I up the draw. Juice is remains clear. I'm glad I stuck with. This thing rocks.

BTW I am still going through this thread I'm at 115 and I'll get back to it in a bit. Having troubles? Keep at, it ask questions. The info on here is amazing. Thanks.

I can understand having wicking troubles for people that used this device as a gateway into rba. I have found it to be no more difficult than kayfun wicking. Just cut the tails short enough to glue to the edge of the deck with juice. Screw on chamber. Push cotton away from the juice channels. I have chain vaped with this set up. Not one dry hit with 80 vg.
