Hi I recently bought my first mech mod and it is a Kato Hammer ( serial number 3631 ). I know that it is authentic but I have a question on if the hammer I received is defective. The Galic laser etched image of the hammer head shark on the sides is different in the following way: One image is very clean while the other is darker, appears more deeply etched and a bit muddled. The images are the same but the intensity of the etch is different. I contacted the seller and he said the other hammers he had were etched the same way as mine was. He said this was probably to make reproduction harder. So my question is " does mine have a production flaw or are the images supposed to vary slightly". I am trying to figure out if I should try to get a refund. Please send me a message if you have any input on this topic, thanx.

I don't know if other Hammers are the same regarding the etching but... Isn't the point of buying an authentic mod getting a flawless piece of gear?

Flawless, beautiful engraving, top notch, perfect machine work and the exclusivity of owning one of a few.
Those reasons are the only reasons to own an authentic mod (in my opinion).

Anything less than perfect, I would buy a clone for 75% less!

It came in a brown UVO Systems box by Kato with no accessory tubes. I am pretty sure it is authentic but I believe it is flawed. I will try and get a camera to post photos sometime soon as I do not have a camera ( I know OMG no digital camera, where have I been ). Any way I am trying to get my money back ( $165 ) through ebay product protection guarantee. Thanx for all the replies everyone.

O.k. I was able to get a refund on the kato hammer that I bought that was flawed. I also was able to find a very nice replacement online. I received a genuine Kato hammer serial 2606 a few days ago. This hammer is in excellent condition and the etchings on it match on both sides. There also seems to be better chrome plating on this one. On the previous one there were productions " ridges " where the chrome plating appeared to be thin. I am very happy with the new hammer granted it was slightly more expensive than the flawed one. I am currently enjoying my flawless hammer and am waiting on a RBA for it. Thanks for all the good input.
