DW wanted anther Arbor with a raised bed, for some hanging melons. I built this for her - 7-1/2' tall x 5' wide. I finished installing the diagonal braces and staining today, perhaps tomorrow will be stapling on the fencing for the vines to climb. All that will then be left is a pair of trim boards (no rush).

Beautiful! And inspiring!

We haven't even bought the house with backyard yet. And, it'll probably take a year or two before a garden is truly up and running. But, when it is, . . . . .

We have a nice sized back yard, and i've told my wife for 5 years now that we need to start a garden, but it's never happened.Although,i'm not sure it would be worth the effort here anyway,my yard is overrun by squirrels,i see at least 30 daily, plus several raccoons and i'm pretty sure we have skunks close by since my cat has been sprayed a few times haha, but with all these animals that seem to call my yard home,i figure they would probably eat up anything we would try to grow.

I'm sure there is some way,i just haven't really checked into it too much.Besides, with as many as we have here,i could see them all teaming up and carrying an enclosure away haha.We used to have a cat that loved going after the squirrels so they learned and stayed away. She's gone now,and the cat we have now has no interest in them,so they have pretty much taken over.I may try a few plants and see how it goes before doing a full garden though.

Maybe you could leave food and water out for the neighborhood cats. That might help.
That would just attract more coons & possums, too. You'll have to watch for rattlers, too.

There are ways to protect against squirrels and such, right? Like maybe build an enclosure of wire mesh?

I hope we don't have that problem. But, we haven't even moved yet. So, time will tell.

Rent a hawk. Not much else will work :)

All the 'funny' smiley faces did confuse me and had me a little worried. Now I know why it was funny.

Thank you, Kenna, for saving me from myself!

Howdy Gang!

We're supposed to be moving into a house by the end of summer. I have mixed feelings about yardwork in the summertime. I think the grandkids should do the mowing. Then I can focus on a garden!

Good luck with the lawn tractor.
Kenna beat me to it, but the grands can definitely do the yard work, and as for that lazy middle one........he needs to learn that others work so they can eat......he can too!

Be careful h don't over do it! That just causes more problems.
I was pretty strong, I guess. We moved ourselves several times. Helping with lifting & carrying furniture, appliances, & boxes. Loading & unloading. We didn't have boys in the family & Dad didn't treat us like we were weaker. Mom tried to, but we just did what needed to be done.

Same here. It was nothing for me to lift 100 lbs of stuff. Payin for it now though.

same here.......tons of squirrels and birds. Ozzy thinks he needs to chase everyone he sees. If he didn't have dog tags that made noise he'd have probably caught a few by now. Not sure what he'd do if he ever caught one, but he's come dang close a few times. that lil boy is fast! I'd love to have a screened in back yard. Saw a lot of that in Florida. So nice to sit outside without tons of bugs. I want a garden so bad, but for me to do any of it, it would need to be raised.

I started pool therapy a couple weeks ago. I think it's helped my right shoulder a little bit, but has irritated my right elbow a bit more. But at least I'm moving more.

Kinda like the dogs that chase cars. Now what?!?!
If they are anything like my dads dog, they will bite down on the bumper and try to drag it haha.He has the craziest dog i've ever seen, wants to bite everybody, and really will bite the bumper of your car if your sitting in it because i guess he thinks that will make you get out haha.

Where are you going for pool therapy?
