Hello, I just recieved my v5 clone from FT yesterday and I am having some serious issues with it. I'm really hoping someone can help me out.

The first major issue I'm having is flooding/leaking. I wicked it and turned the juice control the recommended 2.5-3 turns for mac VG juice and sat it on the table. When I came back to it it was sitting in a puddle of juice and had literally dumped half of the tank out of the air hole. On top of that it would flood every 3-4 puffs and I would have to blow through it to clear.

On top of the leaking issue it is now dry hitting. I've got it turned to 2.5 turns and it isn't leaking but all I am getting is burnt cotton.

It worked beautifully for a few minutes but now it's almost completely useless.

Any tips of advice? Thanks in advance.

I would check all the o rings with a magnifiying glass to make sure they are all seated right and not damaged.Did you over fill it? Post on this thread i've linked for a better chance of a response. Also what brand of clone is it? I can't help with max vg because i use 50/50.If you look on page 56 of this link scroll down for a diagram. Make sure the little nut at the bottom of part #6 is tight.

Thanks for the replies guys. All o rings look good, nut is tight. As far as filling, I top it off to the holes in the top cap. As far as wicking I've got the spaces filled with cotton.

Today it hasn't leaked at all but it dry hits a good bit and sometimes when I puff on it I feel resistance like there is something blocking the airflow. If I blow on it it clears and works fine but no juice comes out of the air holes when I do that. Very strange issues.

As far as brand I have no idea, it was the $12 on FT. I got it just to try it out before I buy the svoe mesto one. Just didn't want to drop $120 to find that I didn't like it. So far, I don't like it! When it works it's great but it's been more problematic than reliable so far. I'm sure the authentic wouldn't have all of these issues but this one sure does.

I find the real inexpensive clones can be hit & miss :( If you spend a little more & get like a SJMY or SXK clone the build quality is usually way better.
I have 3 SJMY's from 3F, there all great! @ 24 bucks each they were a deal.
I like the V5 a lot, except for the one with the missing Oring mine are all flawless :)

I am sitting in the mailbox waiting for SJMY's. Reading here and the discussions and reviews on FT has become important since so many clones come out these days.

I still anticipate full disassembly and a bit of lubing to the rings. But, it does save a lot of money and heartburn.

To many clones.

I agree. Clones are spotty. I had an EHpro V4 clone which I had to completely disassemble every 3-4 tank fulls to tighten everything because the resistance would start drifting around and it didn't want to fire. It was the screw which holds the air control ring to the base. Once I got an authentic that problem was history.

I actually bought the cheap clone just because it was a "tester" to see how it worked before buying the real one. I really don't have any intention of continuing to use the clone once the real one arrives. I can tell already that this is a HUGE improvement over the 4 which I LOVE. This one is easier to tear down and clean, it's got much better air flow, and with the new build deck and big screws I can run the quad twist wire that I want to. On the v4 with the tiny screws my wire choices are very limited.

Thank you guys again for the replies. I'll look into a couple of things on it. Again though, it has stopped leaking now and seems to be working well.. Dunno, maybe it was just "breaking in"

By the way, how do you guys wick? Lots of cotton like the v4 or a little cotton like the KFL? Which seems to work better?

I tend to wick like the pictures in the link and find it works great.

At first I used to keep one of the juice holes clear of cotton. This worked great for a day or two, then I started to get dry hits. Now I do like most reviewers, as light/fluffy as possible but making sure both holes are covered.

Ive had similar leak problems with both my KF Mini V3 and KF Plus 1.5 from FT….and everything looked just fine…even the o-rings.

Run a small screwdriver between every oring and the metal it sits against…if it stretches way to easily it's not good IMO.

The bottom o-ring below the deck is critical….as are the two top cap o-rings….Id change those at the very least.

I changed each and every o-ring on both mine…to a combo of NB70 and Viton o-rings...even the one that seats the 510 post….now they are both nine dry and vaping like champs.

China o-rings are often poor quality.

This is why Ive never once bought anything from FT. You never know what you're getting from them, and you spend ages hoping it shows up just save a few dollars. Spend a few more bucks and buy a clone from a reputable cloner like Tobeco or SXK/Infinite from a dealer you can trust and be done with it. Ive had my Tobeco KF5 for just about a month now, still has the same coil and wick I put in it the day I got it and haven't had a single bit of trouble with it yet.

chiliphil1 - Clones are kinda iffy I agree but... EHPro actually dropped the ball with their KF4 clone so don't let that detract you. Their KFL V2+ was awesome but for some reason they were one of the bottom of the barrel for the KF4 clones, which is when Tobeco took the lead and blew it out of the park. Don't let FT's cheap throwaways sway your judgement. Ive got 3 retired Tobeco KF4s (airflow didn't cut it after I got my first Derringer and switched to lung hitting), 3 Tobeco Derringers, and now their KF5 and my vaping journey up to this point just keeps getting better and better.. ;)

Thank you! I'll start doing it that way right now. Hopefully it'll take care of these issues. It's good about 80% of the time but the other 20 it's either dry hitting or leaking all over the place.

Yeah, I just wanted to sort of "demo" it. I used the KFL, the the v4 clone, then the authentic v4, and I just wanted to "test drive" it before dropping $100+ on the real thing so that's why I went with the cheap one. The plan all along was to buy an authentic if I liked it and I do, so as soon as I can I'll order the real one and that should take care of the issues. My main thing with this thread was to find out if this was a problem with the authentic also or just a cheap clone thing.
