i originally posted this in the (ask the experts) section. However on my computer it shows all the threads on that page as "locked" so as not sure if it is an active section ?

QUESTION: the kayfun 3.1 has a collection tank at bottom, once fluid enters this area, does anyone know what becomes of it ??? do you clean it out when disassembling the unit ? if this is the case i would get the (light plus) as it does not have the "collection tank".... if however it stores juice to be later burned by the wick, then it would be nice to have, but i am not clear what happens to the eliquid once in collection tank ? IE: if flooded, and went to collection tank. what then happens to the eliquid? stay there til disassemble ??? if so i would rather not have the tank, so as would just like to know if anyone has the answer. Thanks much

The collection tank is designed to reduce any leaking into your battery and it works wonderfully. I empty mine every 4-5 days I would say and it has never had more that a few drops in it. not much more than what a person might do in a few drips. The fluid comes from anything that might happen to come off the wick down into the air hole so you want to have it. Its an improvement over the lite. I now own to 3.1's and love them tons. Though they are Hcigar clones. not forking the 100+ bucks for the real deal when these work flawlessly. Hope that helps!

ok.... i too ordered a Hcigar kayfun, but i have not yet received, hopefully tomorrow. so i get it, you simply unscrew the devise and dump the collection of "e juice" ....ok.....i was under the impression that you had to disassemble the 510 connection screw and maybe do a total break down.

rather it sounds like you can just take the kayfun off the mod, unscrew the collection tank and dump ? if this is the case then yes, it does sound like a good option to have. I guess i was confused and thought like whole unit required full disassembly and break down to get to collection tank.

rather i am getting the impression you can just unscrew the bottom collection tank in a few seconds and check ? if this is so, then yes, it sounds like a good thing to have

or do you need to unscrew the 510 connection to get to the collection tank ? if so, i dont like that, but i guess i could drill a hole in the collection tank, plug it with screw, and drain it that way. i dont like having to remove the 510 connection though, if thats required, however i will mod it if need be for easier access.

FOUND IT ::: online there was a breakdown video. So yes the 510 screw needs to come out and be disassembled, i like the fact it has a tank, but dont like having to take that screw out for such a procedure. So i will just drill and tap a hole in bottom, so as can simply remove a "flush" screw in bottom corner to serve as a drain for easy access. It just seems easier and more efficient, as well as is easy enough to do. Ok thanks will do pics of my mod when done. just seems easier to do quick drill and tap, then recess so as can be flush . Then can just occasionally remove screw to check and drain.

Yup, just take it off the mod, back out the connection screw then twist off the collection tank. You can do this with a full tank of juice and not lose a drop. Since switching to my 3.1 I have never had any juice reach my battery and that's a nice change. Like I said before, you really don't need to check it often at all. every 2-3 fills I'll take a peak to see how things are going and I have never been disappointed by the amount of fluid I have found.

also just looked at schematic, i mostly want the insulator to the 510 connection to remain undamaged.... hence why i will drill and tap a hole in the outside corner of bottom. I dont want the screw from 510 connection to go in and out in and out, compressing the insulator, as well as threads of screw "chaffing" the insulator as goes in and out.

i would much rather have that portion set, and not constantly disassembled.
hence drill and tap a filler screw in corner..... then can remove the unit from (ecig) remove screw (in corner) and let sit over night (at angle) while not in use... therefore saving the "insulator" that surrounds the screw to 510 connection. Thats the reason i will do. i dont want that insulator damaged.
