Hello Kayfunners! After too many Kanger (even the Sub tank Mini - which leaks badly) countless Nauty systems, I finally got the courage to get my first ever KFL+ (authentic) last week. I've never been into coil building, but I'd finally built a couple for the Kanger Sub tank Mini, so I figured I should be able to build for KFL+ and my first coil turned out great! I've been happily vaping on it since last Wednesday. I had posted it on the Provape P3 thread (my normal home), but thought I'd join this thread too so I can say hello and keep up to date with other Kayfun users.

Here are my thoughts on the good and the not so good with the KFL+
  • ItS WONDERFUL, just like everyone kept saying
  • The flavor is terrific
  • The vapor level is great
  • It's so much quieter than the Sub Tank Mini
  • It's finished incredibly well - the quality of craftsmanship is evident in every piece
Here's what's not wonderful.
  • It's a PIA to fill and I've got to get one of those Kayfil Tools, Yes I do
  • It's hard to tell when you filled it enough to get through a day without filling again
  • Once filled, it's a Biatch to get to the build deck without having to empty it
  • And like PB mentioned in his video, it does whistle - but that's a minor nit
  • For a device costing this much, the box it comes in is pretty pathetic and there is no manual at all - but that was OK as I had watched enough videos to know how it all worked!
And of course some requisite pictures (which I have no idea why they're importing sideways?):

Congrats on the KFL+ and nice build!

Just fill it from the bottom by taking out the screw. With the KFL+ on an angle and the fill hole up, squeeze in enough juice till the air bubble just disappears past the window. Put your fill screw back and you are good to go, without having to blow out any juice that has seeped into the chimney like they do when top filling.

You Kayfil tool will allow you to get the deck out without having to drain the tank, that is what it's designed for.

There is no manual for the KFL+ but the one for the KFL is basically the same without the airflow control and a different drip tip.

I agree with TrollDragon. Fill it from the bottom. It is much much easier that way. And once it is filled, you shouldnt have a reason to need to get to the build deck.
A pro that you can add to the list is that you can make really large coils. Im doing ten wraps of 28 Kanthal on an artist brush handle. That allows a lot of wicking material that wont strangulate at the coils which really improves the flavor/vapor delivery.

RB remember The Jefferson's. You are moving on up... Yes you are. I had to look online to the date I bought my KFL and it was 1/11/15 and so far no leaks, dry hits, and nor has it flooded. You may have some condensation on the bottom, but that's not even a problem. Bronze gave me a great tip. After cleaning your KFL put some mineral oil on the threads, you'll find it helps make a snug fit and you won't have issues unscrewing the parts.

Thanks Ping! That's a great suggestion about the mineral oil!

I agree about the big coils; when I got a kayfun, I was able to start wrapping my coils around a 7/64 drillbit, and that makes a fantastic vape. I've gotten experienced enough with wicking that I can now get just as good a vape from a 3/32 coil, but being able to use that 7/64 when I first started with a kayfun was a godsend, for learning to wick properly.

Draining the tank isn't really that big a deal; a syringe works just fine. I drain mine a lot, due to my juice being pretty gunky -- if I start to see that dark band around the bottom of the chimney, I know I better get the rest of the juice out of there and rewick, or soon it's going to darken the entire tankful, and my husband will start complaining that it smells like "burnt crap". :D (just one reason why I prefer using M-tanks instead of the 3-segment tanks, you can see it all the way to the bottom around the bottom of the chimney).

I like that solid one piece clear lens the Kayfun V4 has. I can see when its on its last drop then. Is there such a thing for the Kafun Lite?
Here's a picture of one of my Kayfun 3.1's with a replacement glass tank section from Fasttech. I believe they still sell some that fit the Kayfun lite. Less than $5.00. I have had mine for about 8 months with no problems.

Caveat: If you install those on the KFL they partially block the fill hole at the bottom making it much more dicey to fill.

But they do look nice.

Is that a Nano? It looks awfully small, but I bet it vapes great. What's the capacity, and where do I get one?
The short tank came with my Undead and holds 3ml but you can assemble a tank from FT pieces.

Nano Tanks
Chimney

Or a proper Nano PMMA kit from avid but it is only in frosted.

I linked the short and tall chimney kit from FT as the Avid kit is 1.7mm shorter than the FT Nano tanks.
If the small chimney is too short then a few minutes with a hack saw or Dremel will adjust the larger one to fit perfectly.

I have those tanks but they are too tall for a short chimney. I probably can use them with a tall chimney, but it's unlikely they will produce a dense vape as a short chimney does. The height difference, small as it may be, accounts for a totally different vape. YMMV.

The what you need is this tank here, it sits right on top of the chimney base and you don't even use a chimney top, just a drip tip. I don't think you can get any more nano that this... :)
