Just wondering what you guys were building out there...I've gotten the tank for about 3 days and fiddled around a bit. Tried 4-5 different builds, although all around 1.2-1.6 ohms using kanthal 28gauge wrapped 25mm IAD. Tried vertical, horizontal, attempted a dual coil but didnt work out.

I'm currently running 28gauge 1.49ohm build 25mm IAD 7-8 wraps @ 14watts, nice MTL, flavor is decent altho not as great compared to my sub ohm set ups. Vapor is lacking of course but nice enough..

I find that they're all pretty similar (no surprise there) but the wicking is a bit tricky, you need just the right amount of cotton and length in there for the thing to really vape right. Too little or too much you get dry hits, gurgling, etc.

Was wondering if someone out there had a build that could possibly produce the best flavor (in your opinion of course) and the densest vapor.

I really want to run this tank sub 20watts as I will be paring it with a dani dicodes extreme V2+ (what a mouthful) 18350 version, its going to be my stealth setup.

IMO 20w is max on KFL. Feel 13-17w is better range. I always cut and fold cotton down sides rather than put on barrel then pack it. Less is better. Also with cotton pads tear the thicker outer pieces off and that makes cotton absorb better.

Horizontal 1.5 ohm is good. Pay around with 2mm coil slightly lower ~1.2.

Then probably most significant thing on wicking and wattage be the lvl of VG. I wouldn't go higher than 50PG/50VG. If your higher VG then primer puffs maybe necessary and certainly an occasional dry hit at 20W.

If your really wanting higher wattage or vape high VG juice then I suggest checking out a Ubertoot. Great M2L atty. It is a wicking monster compared to older gen kayfun. Although I do love KFL+

I run mine 5-6 wraps 2.5mm dia 28g kanthal. comes in at 1.2 ohms. I tend to run mine about 4.2 volts/14 watts. I wick it with the chimney on. I cut the cotton flush with top of chimney and poke down. Never had any wicking issuesas I use 50/50 juice. The only issues I've ever had was with the vacuum and not leaving enough air space in it when filling to create it. I also removed the air flow screw from the bottom.

I think if you're trying to run it at higher wattages and vapor you're defeating the purpose of a MTL tank. JMHO.

I'm assuming most people are building between 0.8-2ohms on this thing, I've only experienced 1.2-1.5~1.7...

This is the build deck (or is it called atty) that I was talking about...not entirely sure how its gonna work with the 4 large airflow holes...leak city? Will probably experiment when I finish the juice in my tank.

That is actually a 528 customs Monster V2, a "kayfun" but not a kayfun. The juice channels are MUCH larger as well as the airflow. Not nearly as wide open as you would think looking on the outside but more open then a regular kayfun.

You can build this a lower resistance than a kayfun because of the bigger juice channels and airflow

I have 2 of the monster v3's and i love them, they have some really nice flavor

edit:if wicked correctly it wont leak

thanks for clarifying. how is the wicking different than the original kayfun? I'm assuming this bottom piece (is it called an atty? still working on terminologies) is more of a Direct Lung type of draw?

I still want to build above 1ohms bc I would like the 18350 battery on my mod to last as long as possible.

The whole assembly is the atomizer, thats just the base. Wicking is pretty much going to be the same you just have to account for those massive juice channels, if your not going to be pushing alot of wattage through it i would use more cotton than you would on a kayfun.

On my v3, the draw is kind of a restricted lung hit (similar to the Kanger subtank). The v2 (which is what you have) has less airflow than mine, so i would not think your going to be able to do any crazy lung hits or anything.

I exclusively only use vertical coils in mine(personal preference) at about .5 ohm, and usually run anywhere from 40-60 watts, just to give you an example of their capabilities

I vape mouth to lung with a pretty tight draw (like smoking a cigarette).

In my Kayfun Lite-Plus I make this coil:

8 wraps of Kanthal 27 AWG around a 7/64" (2.8mm) drill rod gets me a 1.25 ohm horizontal coil.

Feed it 13 watts (4.0 volts) ... Wick is Japanese cotton ... Juice is DIY 60% VG / 40% PG and 15 mg Nic

bumping an old thread as I didn't see a point in creating a new one.

I want to run this RTA with a reg mod that uses 18350 batteries (yellow AW IR 800mah 3.6v 15c)

What resistance do you guys recommend to get the most battery life out of these? I was thinking 2.0ohms or greater at less than 10 watts...should I go 28gauge? 30gauge? 2.0 or 2.5IAD?
